Who cares about the lore? This is a fantasy world, not heraldy. Make a new continent up, make some more snow up, it doesn't really matter. Foolishly limiting your imagination because of some timeline incogruity is not the way of Heroes.

The Count

A data point of one says at least some people care about lore. Fantasy world tends to attract my sort of people - too much ignoring of the established setting leads to not really feeling like a fantasy world.

the 2nd part is here!

Well, arguably the absence of evidence is evidence of absence in this case, given we do hear of other monarchies, even the seemingly supplanted Regnan one, in MM8, and of course it was made quite clear Erathia, AvLee, Deyja (officially) and Stone City were monarchies in MM7, while there's not a single whiff of nobility in Ravenshore or Alvar.
Very sound argument. You convinced me. A bit surprised, though, since every elf race we know from games & films has nobility. For now, let's say Elti met the Head Merchant, dame Lisabel after traveling from a rural village near Ravenshore.

this is only game addon/mod/expansion, you can add anything what you want based on lore/not, no restriction, The only limit is your imagination.
But we believe since there is no heroes game better than HOMM3,
the best heroes game, the best addon/mod/expansion is continue the old lore, the old universe
Since ubi abandoned old lore/universe, the fan can make expanded universe/expanded game for homm 3, not only for nostalgia but the way to show dev/pub, they treat HoMM in wrong way
for ensure connectivity, spirit, mood, or anything we call "Heroes game" we must care about lore
Nicely written I'd like to point out that the dev/pub can only hear of famous mods, like the well-executed HotA for example. So in this case, either we have to do it really well, on par with HotA level, or sell the polished, nearly complete idea to HotA for them to polish it even more.

This sits ok with me, too. Guess I'm in the goldilock middle zone, not too left nor too right.

If I had to put my priorities in numbers, then maybe they'll fare like below. For me, the contributions to a great new content (here: a new town/faction) are:
- Innate TBS play quality (capable heroes, balanced troops, synergic unique town buildings): 80%
- Background (enthralling town history, lore-friendly creatures, interesting hero story): 16%
- Sight & sound (monster design, faction music, town scene): 3%
- Others (minimum bugs & crashes, no spyware, free of charge): 1%

Right now, there're no explicit mentions in this thread that anyone is a graphic designer / sound mixer / coder, we can't do the 3rd & 4th job listed above yet. And since the creation process follows that order anyway, we can't frog jump. Besides, everyone is hot on the new town lore right now. That's why we may focus on the 2nd stuff atm, @Count

OK now let's get to the main dish:
HISTORY OF THE ACADEMIA (part 2)
Elti didn't have many friends in Alvar. In fact, being young, he didn't have significant connections anywhere when it comes to searching for "manpower". However, he had a solid idea of what to bring as goods for the trip. His village was not too far from Ravenshore - the biggest city & the de facto money center of the Dark elves, since it was also the main port of the nation. In his childhood, on several occasions the small village welcome a circus that displayed strange monsters, some of which were advertised as coming from the distant lands of Enroth and Anta. The little Elti, though terrified, was more mesmerized by them. Those special events, for him, were definitely the most memorable notes of his childhood.

1 of the 1st things Elti did while waiting in Alvar for his turn to meet with Head Merchant Lisabel was to visit the 2 zoos there. It seemed like he was even more excited than when he was a boy, now that he could actually read more about the beasts' details like their food, habitat or reproduction on those boards hung next to the cages. What different and wonderful worlds they were in, compared to the youth's normal landscape! Elti could imagine the awe on people's faces on the other continents when he shows them his own Jadame beasts. Plus, he had noticed that most of the richest and more powerful people in Ravenshore - where he apprenticed on a small merchant ship for a few year - were fond of possessing exotic animals. That theme seemed to be similar here in Alvar, even though he'd only been here for a week. Elti thought that by giving those beasts as a present to the kings and queens in Antagarich, he would be able to gain their support and thus would manage to open a station somewhere there, fulfilling his promise to the graceful Head Merchant.

Hence Elti left Alvar with a small amount of 'deposit gold' from the Guild, heading into the wilderness of vast Jadame in order to hunt some 'most exotic' beasts. He went with the big hope that along the way, he'd meet interesting people, those young & passionate like him, and together they'd become a legendary crew who got through the ocean and create an everlasting trading bridge between all people of Enroth...

[of course, those young dream big. The reality, as I'm imagining, is that Elti would meet very different kind of people and intelligent monster (future hero materials), not just his ideal of young & enthusiastic. Some were fervent to go on an adventure, some were driven by circumstances. Also, the meh crew could only "hunt" so-so monsters, but it dawned on Elti that even 'normal' creatures here would count as extremely strange in Antagarich. He'd go to all the locations: Garrote gorge, Ravage roaming, Murmurwoods, northern countryside Alvar, Ironsand desert and Shadowspire before coming back to the capital to report to Lisabel with a whole horde of men & goods. Of course, there were challenges all on the way, it was not an easy trot at all, and Elti learnt a lot from this.

BTW, let's call the lv1-7 monsters Wan, Tu, Tri, Foor, Faiv, Xis and Sevan for ease of access. In the above paragraph I've listed 6 places, so maybe Elti & his crew would encounter the last creature (not necessarily Sevan) on his way to the armada at Ravenshore or even en route at sea. That'd bring the end to the 1st player campaign.

As you can see, these blue texts are seriously lacking of details about his adventures. I'm counting on you guys ]

(to be continued)

Is it truly wise for the creatures to be introduced so slowly?

Heroes lore is just like an ageing abbess. In your adolescence she led you down the aluring path of sin and now you, in your turn, should molest the altar boy in a similar fashion. The experience she passed on is invaluable, however some fancy new toys have appeared on the scene so you don't really intend to hold back.

This is a large part of why I like the Jadame dark elves so much. You can still see how they can be called dark elves, but they are not at all like stereotypical elves, dark or otherwise, and despite their government seeming to be closest to a merchant republic, a dark elven Luebeck by the Ifarine Sea, they get to play a role in MM8 that's usually given to human-dominated kingdoms in fantasy stories.

The Merchant's Guild has trade routes with the Dagger Wound Islands (HOTA actually alludes to this trade route in one map, having a mention of tobersk brandy, the end product of the route), though of course lizardmen, the primary inhabitants of Dagger Wound, already have Fortress. There is the Serpentmen, but they are rather hostile, and only found inside a specific temple at the time of MM8 (some time after Armageddon's Blade).

I don't worry a lot about the inhabitant types. Of course, such a big series of islands must contain various species, and MM8 mentioning only 2 doesn't mean their number of beasts stops there. We can always invent a creature that match our town 1st and then put it on the DW islands.

That said, maybe Elti & team might visit DW after departing from Ravenshore? I'm thinking of a reason for him to come to that decision. Maybe he just wanted adventures and hoped to find more monsters there. After all, he'd traveled all Jadame, why not visit the last bit of it? Also, being a trade-focused nation, Alvar would not possess a large naval force, compared with say Regna. Elti's "armada" is just a small part of it, so it makes sense for him to avoid direct conflict with such a hub of piracy forces.

Uhm, trade-focused nations often do possess large naval forces, though it is firmly established that Regna's sphere of influence possesses a massive number of ships (one of the reasons for the pact with the Wererat Smugglers is that the smugglers are capable of evading the Regnans).
DW isn't normally a hub of piracy forces, though. While they are greatly active in MM8, this is explicitly an unusual situation.

The town should be called Phantasma.
