Poll Question:
What are you playing at difficulty level?

I play at expert. Sometimes impossible. But I love more expert. Why? Initial budget. Ok it doesn't matter, when everything on the NWC/3DO map is tuned. 50k gold, etc for AI in the first day. I like to tune up big bonuses to AI. Depends on map, if only computer opponent, I give a large primary skills, experience level, troops, spells and artifacts. How about you?

Impossible. But I play against the AI and I keep it locked somewhere where it can't bother me, so I'm not sure the difficulty has any importance in that type of game.

But... if you're gonna choose impossible difficulty + time limit + hard to break through map... even the type of game that I'm playing might be a challenge because I might not break out of my resource-poor area fast enough to gather enough army by month 12 to defeat the AI. It's actually happened quite a few times to only be able to build level 6 dwelling in month 2, and still not be able to break out of my area by month 3. I must say, it's been pretty fun desperately planning the clearing of the map and managing the town + army buildup within 8-9 months in order good enough to be able to defeat the pre-set AI hero (which usually is a level 70+ Tazar, Mephala, Tamika, Monere, Crag Hack, Kilgor, Mutare, Tyris, etc.). In WoG such a hero is pretty hard to defeat with underrated and/or weaker spells (I usually stay away from the pussy force field, blind, berserk, and other spells like these). Damn! Now I wanna play the game but I don't have time. Having to work 5ucks balls

XL+U no water, strong monsters, Impossible 1v7 random allied towns, Inferno, and Fiona as starting hero.

Prefer expert instead impossible on multiplayer though.

Impossible sucks. It won't make the game harder, only more annoying.

For the record I've finished all campaigns on impossible, including chronicles and hota.

Elvin has written sensible and a true skillful. I think so.

When 70 level is unimportant, multiplayer doesn't play 12 months.
When 7 AI vs 1 human is too old like legion monster.

Impossible is for vanity, but in game terms it doesn't leave you a choice. I think, I wrote this already somewhere, but what I miss is a difficulty giving you 5000 gold and 5,5,2,2,2,2 res. That leaves you with tough decisions and takes care of the most annoying cliffs (Dungeon Beholder dwelling someone?).

I'm not. If you're a pro and want a tougher challenge (which seems like something that many seasoned players are whining about) you'll cling to every thing that makes the game harder.

Easy or Impossible does'nt matter VS AI. As long as you have Earth Magic and Town Portal, it's almost impossible to lose.

The most important part is how to rapidly and efficiently drain maps before getting these skills. These spells just make games kinda pointless if you already have enogh towns.

Yes Earth and TP, but not a human opponent. Even if you can play without Earth and TP against computer in single player. NWC/3DO offered reclamation and Heroes of Might, Not Magic. AI is still an easy opponent. Ok try better playing without Earth and TP. You beat AI. What then? But mapmaker usually makes the claim: Earth and TP. When legion of monster or raw AI opponent. The same H4GS maps are demanded Order aka Earth + Water + Air. Because stronger map. H4 standard you don't need Order like H3 NWC/3DO maps. So I recommend you give a AI bonuses. You get a harder opponent, and you keep Earth + TP. How? Example of Meeting in Muzgob, map has two only computer. You give a Logistics, Pathfinding, Earth, TP, swarm 6lvl, and then +15 all primary skills, for example. Funny! Maybe you belonged under H4GS. But you don't like H4. No can do.

I think I have explained a couple of times that TP in my game always takes me to nearest town, while AI can go anywhere. So that alone makes the game much harder and fun/frustrating.

I do the same at Impossible level. Then I play Power Castle.*


*What is Power Castle? It is Castle when you have Dracon and Gelu in nearby prisons and start with Gundula or Corkes.

I don't know do I understand? I meant computer AI gets bonuses. Example of All for One (H3RoE) would be to give your computer a swarm of Devils, but 1lvl enemy hero. So you develop to run around. Other mapmaker placed the artifacts on the map. If you're slow, computer takes your important artifacts. It's just an example. So you come very fast and clever.

I'm assuming you're speaking about the original gane, because in WoG it is possible to lose against the AI. Actually, you can lose in original game, too if you dont use 9ay spells ^_^

Yeah! I give AI tons of resources on a daily basis, increase their growth by adding creatures to the poll every first day of the week and even improve their heroes, giving them Logistics, Wisdom, Earth and Air and teaching them the good spells. But then I give myself those advantages and I also make sure there are some Witch Huts around teaching the right skills. It completely changes the pace of the game but in a way I love it. Sometimes a turn takes several hours...
