No, I have another question in mind. How does this even work in practicality? Isnt Poland a member of the EU? That means Polish people can travel inside Europe as they please. So, what’s to stop a woman to go and have an abortion in Germany? How long does it take by train, 4 hours? 6 hours? What’s the point really?

Well, it's basic human need to want to feel safe and have rights in the place of your birth. Some people will decide to go abroad if they don't have an option anymore, but becasue I'm not a woman I can't tell if it's as "simple" a matter of "just" going someplace and be done with it like you were visiting a dentist or sth. Ofc you can have the "I hate my country, I will move out" mindset, but frankly, if you didn't notice, currently practically every country went down to bleep and it's not easy to live in due to social unrests, immigration crisises or authoritharian/incompetent governments... Maybe Norway is relatively nice to live in, besides their horrendous prices and child social care laws. I think the easiest way is to go to Alaska or somewhere and live as a hermit...

I explained it already, it's not about "oh I guess I can't do abortion in my country, what a hell to live in". They present it as such becasue "abortion" subject is catchy, but in reality it's about a frustrated part of a nation (becasue the other half are either ultra catholic old people from the country who only listen to priests, the said cleregy themselves, nationalists and half-brain pathology who live on social benefits). So it's not "weman screaming for abortion rights", but actually more about our government ruining our country and people being fed up with it (I don't even want to start describing it in detail becasue it would take me half of this page probably). Oh and EU does jack bleep about our situation, they only send "letters of alarm" (like they did when our judiscical system was taken control of by our government) and will probably "detach the trolley" when things get too hairy if you know what I mean...

I want to stay as neutral as possible in all this, but one thing is certain: everything goes if it's to make our current government loose their majority rule becasue this people are the worst catastrophy that happened to our country since early post war communism.

Here, Halloween was never a thing. The scariest thing now is quarantine. ^_^

My birthday is on Monday, which happens to be the Day of the Dead, national holiday, the dullest holiday of the year. And with social restrictions, most of places closed for the holiday and most friends gone for some small vacations away from the city, I am left to enjoy with some imaginary friends. I'll probably go to a beach to walk and breathe a bit of fresh air.

Not to mention that, in 37 years, I remember that it didn't rain 4 or 5 times, no matter in which state I lived. So ... yeah, it sucks.

@blob2

I’m not talking about what’s the actual motive of the protests though, what’s the point in banning abortion under such context. Yes, homeland is homeland of course but trust me, an abortion must be already an exceptional and quite a disturbing experience for a woman, it’s not like a casual dentist appointment and if you’re going through such a thing, it wouldnt matter much which country it is in.

Btw, I wouldnt want to sound like a grammar nazi but you always write “loose” instead of “lose.” It is quite a common mistake for rookies but your English seems okay, so: Loose is for example, when a knot is about to untie. The opposite of win is “lose.”

Decreased accessibility generally (certainly not always) decreases rates of abortions I.e. A relatively short train ride matters because women and men contemplating abortions are frequently on the fence and frequently experience regret or even clinical depression. Going to Germany won't necessarily make it easy either because AFAIK the Germans have regulations to prevent people from making impulsive decisions on it. They have to go through the right steps and screenings before the abortion.

It's a little like the difference between having a casino 4 hours away and having a casino downtown. Or having software installed to break a porn addiction. Yea, obviously a person can get around the block they put up, but the extra steps needed gives them an extra psychological boost.

Besides all this, a culture of life is an international movement, not an isolated one. Having Poland create a more socially just society creates ripples everywhere else

^_^ That's also something that I often notice, not only here, but in a lot other places, even from people from English-speaking countries. Loose can also be applied to a situation where a criminal is free out and about, that he's on the loose, for example.

Another stuff that often happens is "your" instead of "you're". But I suspect that a lot of people write like that due laziness.

Yeah good catch. I try to keep my grammar correct, but there are these habits that are hard to weed out and I sometimes do them unwittingly. You are of course right, there are these words in English that can differ by usage of a single letter yet their meaning is different.

It's also funny when I work with Finns, who generally are pretty well versed in English, yet they also have the habits of accenting some letters or even writing some words phonetically like "suckces". And becasue these mistakes are duplicated by a couple of people, this seems to be something common

Maybe I'll straighten things up a bit because there seems to be a misconception here. Other then frustration levels getting out of hand, it's not a protest about "easy" access to abortion. Poland already had strict laws about it. But the issue here is that our Constitutional Court has rejected a law which was in place for around 27 years - which enables abortion in case of a severe clinical issue like danger to life, or a risk of birthing a child with disabilities. Before, woman had the right to decide if they want to carry on with the endangered pregnancy. It was their choice. Now, our country basically "orders" women to give birth, even if there is a risk of either losing life or taking care of a disabled child for the rest of your life (and not everyone is up to the task). That's why there are so many buzzwords around like "government wants to give women hell" etc

This political decision stems wholly from the fact that the chairwoman of CC is a "woman of the government", basically she's a protegee of our ruiling party (yes Poland is a country in which CC is the governments puppet, despite its original role to be neutral and carrying out unbiased judgements). This cynical decision was made because our government wants to appease to the cleregy and their flocks - their main allies and voters. Whatever might be the case, it doesn't change the fact that it was an ill-timed decision, becasue we're in the middle of heavy corona outbreak. Some even say this was made on purpose to stir the populace and put blame on the "left" or the "opposing" part of the country or even to distract the public opinion from the colapsing public healthcare and the governments inability to deal with the outbreak. As I said, our current government speciality is dividing us as a nation as much as possible because they are evil and cynical basterds...

as a resident of the EU free (?) UK, you need a loicense for that, along with a permit for that loicense, as well as a donation to the Labour party.

Otherwise it's 25 years in prison for one of your comments that's deemed offensive.

@blob

I was answering the "but they can just go to so and so place" objection.

If a person is absolutely determined to have an abortion they can find a way. There have even been Dutch ships that perform them in international waters. But, the fewer places where it is allowed, the fewer people considering the idea will go through with it. It isn't a dichotomy between "must have abortion" and everybody else.

I didn't know he played that. When I watched that movie years ago, it was Portuguese dubbed. And back then, there was not youtube or Google to tell all the truth about anything.
