So I tested it and with no Earth Magic Animate Dead is still permanent with 750983FE03, but Resurrection is not permanent until Expert Earth Magic. So not changing 7509, means you only affect Resurrection.

Ok, so the EB change isn't necessary. The final bye controls Resurrection and, if the first two are NOP'ed out, Animate Dead, as well.

The "adventure map" setting is how many units will be generated at the beginning of the map if the units' number is set to random. For example, un-upgraded level 7 units will have a quantity between 4 and 10 at the beginning of the map, while the upgraded ones between 3 and 8.

Edit: Can someone help me with making Gold & Diamond Golems occupy two hexes? And the Gold ones to have no retaliation and attack all-around?

As I posted in the HotA thread, I have discovered the location of the morale divisor at 645AA; this can be used to make each point of morale contribute more than 1/24 of a chance for 2x turns.

Furthermore, I have just discovered the location of the LUCK divisor at 3F66C, with the maximum luck value being stored at 3F65F.

Finally, I believe the negative morale divisor is the 0C at 645A3, but that will be more annoying to test. If somebody would like to, please let me know.

(EDIT: the guide has been updated with these new findings, as well as to edit the utility descriptions to discuss "soft" patching.)

So how do we set the morale and luck cap to +6? (I guess I can live with the unsupported graphics for now, just have to remember that +3 actually means +3 to +6.)

No clue. Worth checking into, I suppose.

(If I had to wager a guess, there'd be one of two possible outcomes. One, the spell specialty is hard-coded to always use the expert value. Two, the spell specialty is hard-coded to a value of 3.)

I was searching all "info" were in the "how to edit hota" who aren't in guide when I read it. As I'm useless to search in datas, I can just search to add things other found to help the guide ?

That note about Forgetfulness is actually what led me to discover how to edit the mass effect threshold for all OTHER spells; both are noted in the guide.

So, I ended up going down the rabbit hole at work today looking through the "how to edit HotA" thread. Ended up discovering... quite a few things, actually.

• How to edit building dependencies

• How to correct the wrong images/prices for towns with new war machines

• How to (properly) lower the bonuses from the four elemental orbs

• (Possibly) how to start fixing the problem with setting the correct tiers of Gnolls/Dragonflies without breaking their ability to upgrade

• Lots of other stuff

Looks like Phoenix was actually around for some of this, particularly the building dependencies, but since HotA was snowing up the thing he was trying to do nothing ever came of it. I, of course, have no interest in HotA, so this is a huge boon for the guide.

Guide has been updated. There's still a few minor things left to put in there, but what I already had done was just too substantial not to go ahead and update it now.

Most notably, there is now a section on updating buildings, but there's a lot of other stuff (it's nearly 33% longer now than before).

We have never figured out where the +1 speed comes from with Xeron's static devil specialty, have we?
I was considering putting Galthran back in HotA, but with a static attack, defense and speed bonus, but I don't know where the speed bonus is assigned...
That or somehow cutting his bonus in half, but that does'nt seem to be possible either?
Is it possible to change it, so he gains bonus only every 2nd or 3rd level, like if he specialised in Zombies or Wraiths?

Creature bonus depends on tiers, so you'd have to change which tier Skeletons were treated as.

Yeah seems pretty impossible then.
Last option is to decrease attack and defense of skeletons, but that is also kinda weird.

Yes, but we can't get the speed bonus with static bonus, at least we don't know how and that to me is like half the appeal of a creature specialty.

Personally, I think y'all overvalue the snow out of speed - especially a +1 bonus in this case.

If that 1 point doesn't make the difference between being able to get over to your opponent's troops on the first turn or being able to kite a team of powerful walkers, it's really not that useful.
