How to edit HoMM 1

hello
i want edit HoMM 1 files senario description. I want to change language ( turkish language )  more if I can. but i cant find how to. Does anyone know how?

Using hex editor in exe file, but you cant probably use your specific letters eg. šžõ only latin. Because it needs hardcoding these letters and special font. In Turkey you use latin font so can be understable. It must be the same  area width as english!
All local exe must be build from zero to have all! But there is small size of text!

Also you can translate the game texts to your native language by editing EnglishTexts.ini from the English localization of the Russian version of the game - https://handbookhmm.ru/forum/download/file.php?id=1601

Maybe this is because of "Turns out, the GoG version of Heroes 1 has a different palette. Replace H1Palette.bmp of my tools with this one to work with the GoG version of the game."

its' working change turkish but not full localization. Turkish character not working. it's normal.

external program? ( photoshop or font edit etc ) i have edit other font
how to integrated font or edit original font.

Punctuation marks that are interesting to me. not working. apostrophe, for example.

Heroes 1 has two palettes one for dos second for windows. Both you have in Grayface site as two tools for graphic.

Ok, I managed to rip some graphics with proper pallete.
But, I'm interesting in battlefields. I extracted diffirent top parts of battlefields but I can'f find 'base' part. Any help?

Ground is in hex form! Builded from elements generated with obstacles. Not as picture! As I remember name is grid? Or somethong like that.

There's no grid in the vanilla HoMM. But you can add it as a mod (by Miner). Works both for Russian (Buka/TE) and English Windows/DOS (Original/GOG) versions.

Looks like first concept for castle... Similiar to Heroes III!!! Before ones maybe creature generators? Cathedral? Or maybe powerups like taver? Guild for other players info?

The object on the second picture has no description, but these four noticeable objects on the first picture have their names: Inn 1-4. And you can easily recognize to which faction each of them belongs. Maybe you could hire heroes there like in a map tavern in H3.

Yes these two looks like taverns so they are but next two? Towers? Looks like another objects. But maybe?
Yes taverns probably are for hero recruiting... So first concept was that tavern has only one faction hero next we see all in one.
Another version is that all faction has their own bildings. In final game we have some common structures. So in fact maybe these are town graphic added to map?! In demo nothing on map works.

Wow! I'm replaying the DOS version of HoMM1 atm and keep thinking how much I need the hex grid so I'll have to try this! Thank you so much!

It's a shame there aren't more HoMM1 mods out there. I have so much nostalgic love for HoMM1 and go back to it every few years!
