Lol, Sal, it’s a joke, not a “catch.” Nobody actually claims there is a deeper message.

Still living in a closed cave I see. The narrative you show me there is the major reality outside the medias. That a few individuals (which will most likely lose their jobs within a week) showed enough guts to make their names public is only the tip of the iceberg.

Fred, trust me when I tell you “the fact” that you are the most emotional person participating in these debates, making your observations of ANY fact the most biased one most of the time. I know you happen to think that you just speak out what you see but as I’m tired of reminding you, what you see is your own perspective, not the impartial facts.

I think there is a significant difference between Britain and U.S. regarding the whole context, both in terms of racism and police brutality. Blizz was right to point out that the overpolicing of some communities in U.S. make them percieve the police as some kind of terror, it is a much more crucial point than your “leftist media brainwash” narrative. You can argue that the gang and gun culture in America forces the law enforcement to such overpolicing but the result is still the zero trust from such communities that we witness. It is beyond individuals, it is a social matter.

I agree, USA has a very different history regarding black minorities. However, your link shows opinions from UK, so I continued on that path, because this is the kind of narrative I see everywhere here in France as well. It greatly backfires.

That you actually believe that, artu, is no surprise. Let me break it down for you:

The difference is, my emotion(anger and exasperation, mostly) stems from the fact most people i argue with don't think logically; while ya'll's emotion is the BASE of your argument. It is your entire STANDPOINT. All of the stuff you guys say/argue, when it comes to race and politics, specifically, is based on what you or whoever you quote for your own opinions FEEL. You all FEEL, instead of THINK. I THINK, then react to your illogical and backwards leftist ideas with feeling. See how that works? One coming before the other means a GREAT DEAL in the right/wrong game.

If you people would simply make that small adjustment in your brains, there wouldn't be any vast divide between us; we would both logically arrive at the same conclusions. Provided, of course, your iq's were comparable. Not saying they're not; just that your cognitive/emotional order is backwards.

This is actually one of the better reads I've seen in the thread. Shows there's still hope for humanity. A shame there are far too little of this kind of people...

I wholeheartedly agree with you on that tangent. I recently sparked a discussion at work on another hot topic. I was trying to explain how guilt by association is not a valid avenue of reasoning and was shut down with emotional arguments upfront. Like, people said "are we not allowed to feel anymore?", and proceeded to derail and started labeling. These are very educated people mind you, but when it comes to critical thinking they're not even novices, more like completely uninitiated. To me this is the biggest failure of our educational system in current times, the consequences of which are seeping into every layer of society. People feel too much and think too little, you can't expect change for the better with such a driving force.

Yes but remember what one of our greatest philosophers - Cioran, once told : people get emotional only when they care.

That's not even a reasonable facsimile of what i said. Are you high again? That's not how we celebrate Independence Day, artie. If you really want to join us, eat meat and shoot guns into the air. Oh wait, that's Mexico. That's right; eat meat and blow snow up. That's the American Way.

Fortunetly both in work and in my closest enviroment I have likely minded people and we share many views so it's easy to find common ground in discussions. I think we are educated bunch (IT), and I assume what many of the "Western" folk lack is "cynism", or a broader perspective about the state of some things. For instance they are like "we need to help those people" (socially marginalized). But what they don't understand is that these people don't give a f*ck about them and they would rob, assualt or call them names at the very first sight of them. I think people have a severe lack of self-esteem so they like to "feel good" and look for ways to "fix" the world. But it's unfixable, there are too many disparities. If people would "behave" there wouldn't be problems. But some groups don't want to behave, they want more and more...

Well, we also have "progressive" (as in "feels" instead of common sense) people around us, but fortunately they are in the minority. At least for now. I don't want to live in a country where one wrong word (usually a different opinion) about minority gives you a "wolf ticket" in society...

Countries like America created their own problems so now they need to face them. I can see country with a problem with its identity when a group of gaming journalists criticizes a black-americans work about how it's racist: https://www.thesixthaxis.com/2019/06/18/cyberpunk-2020-creator-angered-by-criticism-of-representation-in-cyberpunk-2077/. Fortunately Mike is a very leveled and objective guy.
