A question about Facebook
In my country people call facebook shortly “face.” Like “look at his face page, he uploaded the vacation photos.” A friend of mine who’s living in the U.S. and who dislikes this shortening said “even Americans who talk in acronyms all the time don’t shorten facebook into face.” I objected, “well, face is a daily word for them, they already use it for its literal meaning.” So my question is for people not living in English speaking countries, is there a shortening for Facebook in your language? If there is, what is it?

In France there is more of a play on words because "Face" roughly can sound like "ass" and "book" like "goat", so they say literally "goat ass". Interestingly even though it's widespread is also viewed as a lame play on words by most people.

Well, they don’t call social media “the new smoking” for no reason. Those “likes” and “hearts” in FB or Instagram actually make you release dopamineand it can turn addictive. But just like everything else, if you are the one deciding when and how to use it, the sub-communities in FB are not much different than Heroes Community. I am a member of a few groups that share and discuss latest devolopments in science, a few music groups, one that releases rare jazz photos, a group about etymology, also the public page of a writer I follow, a philosophy group... All of these groups have very productive debates and interest specific information flow. I also met two of my girlfriends this way and ended up living together for two years with each.
But the type of facebook user who puts the photo of a stake he had at lunch and then starts counting how many likes he got seems irritating to me too.

We usually shorten it to "Fejs" [pronounced like "face" in English]. There is also "FB", [not pronounced as "ef be", just "f b"]
