I'm not even going to discuss that with you, if you took that administration's, and the media's word for it. You'd lack the gray matter to continue anything past your force-fed propoganda at this point.

Oh you poor thing. It must be so hard to be you.

I'm not. I'm really not.

I do agree that it is for the best if we stop the conversation though. I don't think it is going to go anywhere.

I tend to agree that Rome was simply cooler than Greece.
It's not just that, the age of Péricles started 439 BC, the Roman Hellenisation happened in the second and first centuries BC.

I was being a tool.

Now, I don't know if this problem exists elsewhere, but if there is a subject in history that American education sucks at, it is communism. You hear all sorts of stuff about slavery and Jim Crow and Nazism, but the insane amount of death under communist regimes is mostly crickets and brushed over. I've heard the same problem in Canada. It is scandalous

Canada calls the War of 1812 "The War of American Aggression" which is fake because Britain started it. They were attacking our merchant ships. I mean wtf Britain, #NaploeanDidNothingWrong.

This is just my poorly informed opinion but I believe the great problem with American education is freedom of opinion. You always think you are in the right to agree or disagree with things, no matter what.
It wouldn't cross my mind to reject Dr. Fauci opinion on Covid 19 or Stephen Hawking on Astrophysics but you do. On one side this is good, I've trusted Doctors like it was the word of God, just to come to believe some of them were trying to sell me stuff for their own profit. Scientists are human and may not have the best intentions. On the other, why bother to learn difficult things if you can just reject them cause you don't like or understand what is being said. So, you get a bunch of climate change deniers, flat-earth apologists, people that reject evolution or believe the earth is just 6000 old.
And if you try to educate them, they'll probably reply: it's my opinion, man; even if it's everything but a matter of opinion, like well established historical facts, physics and math. Tabloid science also helps to spread the confusion.
Then, the American exceptionalism. Like Fred said early, why bother to learn another language? We are the greatest and the others should follow us.

It's a joke, did the orange man make humor out of fashion or something as well?
It's so transparent that blizz does low-effort trolling, so a quip like that is just playing along.

Also, who says I have no right to mock people? It's my birthright, deal with it.

@bloodsucker

American exceptionalism is a cancer but the other stuff doesnt come about from people being able to have opinions, lol. Northern Europeans are uber opinionated but they don't have America's craziness.

Ok, but it's like me making fun of any of you for not speaking Portuguese as well as I do, when I was born and raised in Portugal and neither of you were or you making fun of me for not speaking Italian. And this is all that I meant.

I can make myself as crystal clear as humanly possible, and my words'll still be twisted...

You reinventing what i say doesn't mean you're slighting ME, just lessening yourself; so apologies are not necessary. But unless you want anyone to mistake you for a non-thinker, i'd change your post to reflect what i actually said. Up to you.

can think there'd be any pertinent reason for an american, outside of a voluntary elective course regarding foreign language, to learn anything but an english alphabet in an english-speaking country...

You are not using “an english alphabet” though, are you, you are using the Latin alphabet, just like you are already using the Arabic numerals: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0.

It’s a trick question.

If it was, then why did we have people in this thread answering it seriously and trashing americans because of it? Try again, artu. If you people use any and every opportunity to trash the states and americans in general, i'm going to have a goddamn problem with it. I could care less regarding the authenticity of the op, if it is being used to trash what i care about. By anyone.

I'm glad i get a chance to talk with people around the world on an international forum, where i get to see the hatred so openly displayed between the same class of people worldwide, against people who are just living their own lives.

Try what again? WTF do you mean “if it was?” It obviously is and the trick is to prove that most Americans don’t know the numbers they are using came through Arabs. And as you can see in the results, they really don’t. So people are mocking them because the name of the numbers we use is quite common knowledge. (At least, it should have been.)

And I didnt bash anyone. People bash America more than other nations, sometimes they overdo it, sure. But that’s the price of being a world super power and the number one invasive force on the planet. It’s one thing when some backyard country’s folk with no budget for proper education gives such ignorant answers, it’s another when the country is a first world country.

You could all (not you, artu, I know you do) do yourself a big favor and make a habit of READING stuff you are linked to. I quote:

Quote:
Dick, who said that the “goal in this experiment was to tease out prejudice among those who didn’t understand the question,” shared another survey question about what should or shouldn’t be taught in American schools. This time, the survey found that 53% of respondents (and 73% of Democrats) thought that schools in America shouldn’t teach the “creation theory of Catholic priest Georges Lemaitre” as part of their science curriculum:

Just as respondents to the Arabic numerals question were likely unsure of what “Arabic numerals” referred to, the respondents to this question likely thought that Catholic priest Georges Lemaitre’s “creation theory” referred to creationism. In truth, however, Lemaitre’s “theory of creation” was an explanation for the expansion of the universe, now better known as the “big bang theory.”

Pretty sure they just hate math, people jump the gun too much going into prejudice crap. As if anyone had time for that. Same with the whole 'Bombing Agrabah', certain that so called Trump supporters just wanted Trump to keep himself occupied with bombing some random city and leaving them in peace. So long as the Fed Gov has its hands full they ain't gonna bother us for a while.
