Has anybody else here noticed that this forum is less friendly than it used to be?
It seems like people in general are on a shorter fuse and there is little or no desire for mutual understanding. Is this polarization or from something else?
I don't harbor animosity towards any members here so feel free discuss this openly.

I think it is as it's always has been. The usual hugs, the usual bickering, basically the same people. Actually, after being away for months, I was thinking that things here would be a little more crisp even; with all the surmounting of local problems individually speaking, each person with their own levels of stress, while others not that much.

Also BB, are you forgetting the days of Elodin, where everyone slightly left of Mitt Romney was a godless heathen that needed to find Jesus, otherwise they were insane heretics who were paving their road to hell in good intentions? Because I 'member those days. 
It's less that there are higher amounts of aggression and people venting and talking past one another, and more that the majority of the people who would actually discuss are just... gone. Left because of life, or because they got sick of being trolled, or got banned because they were secretly on 3 accounts... Mytical literally died... So the only people left are the super-passionate extremely political members, and the more casual commentators who want to talk or discuss with one another casually just find the entire environment abrasive, actively hostile or just pointless to add to. Add the global pandemic and looming financial disaster ramping up stress and making the vocal extremists more extreme, and... people who aren't diehard just don't post.
Doesn't help that it continually spills over into the VW. The place that was never meant to be all that serious in the first place, and which was supposed to be free of all the OSM bickering. Corribus should just give everyone a week long ban to let them reflect on how they've ruined my boi.

You're just getting old and the romantic fog of the good old times has clouded your perceptions.  In the days long gone when this forum was still about HoMM, there was quite a bit of bickering about HoMM itself (Ashan, Forge, masters and amateurs, etc.), now there's no HoMM to speak of apart from what is being played for 20+ years and people bicker about politics. Personally I would prefer to talk about HoMM but someone has to grab the franchise from Ubisoft's acidic grasp first. Which is just wishful thinking at this point.

I remember some heated discussions about Heroes 6 (and that is around the time I joined I belive) and my rants in the Hearthstone thread  And that's about it, other then that nowadays seems to really be more intensive.
But for a forum about games from a franchise that literally rides only on mods its pretty active.

Elodin was a civil members in the OSM. Strong beliefs sure but never openly hostile unlike some of the current members taking part in discussions.
How some of them have not been banned by now is beyond me. Common respect seems to be unheard of these days.
Or maybe the mods need a good kick or two to work harder.
