I remember your proposals were always amazing, you did not disappoint! If you don't mind me asking where do you get your artwork?
Thanks! It's always fun venting out some stuff out of the chest. HOHOHO
The images and artwork I usually select on Pinterest, for years now, collecting this and that for those proposals, which are still ongoing. When I don't find on Pinterest something too specific, I try Google. The best Pinterest stuff comes from Artstation and Devianart. Sometimes from certain games Wikifandom and Gamepedias. I try to find things with similar traces and styles for the same faction, not to appear too mixed up. And townscreens I usually grab several of these selected arts and tinker them together.
Regarding units specifically, sometimes I find something quite cool. So, most of the times, I create perks and specials of those creatures fitting how they look, actually and check if it fits the theme and the other units as well. So if you see a rabbit there with a crimson tail, I'll probably add something related to that tail.
Quote: Heroes: I like how you took classic heroes and completely redid them in a way that still fits them. The one thing I don't understand though is why do they have specializations if they all have their own unique class?
Ah, that – I forgot to mention. Classes are affected by how heroes are played. They may upgrade them, add strats or even lose some effectiveness in favor to something else. I also forgot to describe their role: Commander, Explorer or Ruler. They are set by default in one of these three and their Class is inserted in one of those too. So, when they play the other two roles more than the default one, their classes may change (combination of skills, proficiency, etc.). Specialties are permanent and don't actually change into anything else.
Which is the next faction, then?

Well I was waiting on a few more scores but it doesn't look like they're coming so here are the results:
Rimgrabber - 9
PandaTar - 8.75
Jiriki9 - 8.75
FirePaladin - 7.33
Alon - 6.83
I feel kinda bad about coming in 1st
Anyway, according to my list randomizer, Inferno is next, unless anyone has any objections.
Also, do people want to keep an overall score from across rounds, or just score each round individually? I'm fine either way, I think the cross-round scoring would be a total of all of your final scores rather than an average, to reward people for participating in as many rounds as they can. Not that the points mean anything lol

Either way for me is fine. Although I have not participated of Necropolis thread. Which was one I had a very different suggestion to present.
Anyway, Inferno now (as mine is called Gates). Will try to finish the townscreen for this one. Just finished selecting a huge array of stuff to compose a nice landscape. ^_^

Don't worry about Necropolis we didn't end up scoring it because nobody seemed really into it.

Okay, some scores (which will not change the order because <3 Rimgrabber):
PandaTar
Honestly, the only criticism I have of this is the picture - it portrays Haven as a bit too utopian. But everything else - the implied lore, the complexity of the heroes, the units - is really cool. I especially like the Falconer, who is 100% within the range of what I think Haven/Castle is and also completely original.
Score: 9
FirePaladin
It's hard for me to be objective about this because of the lord/cleric crib. It's a pretty conventional Haven/Castle lineup; the lack of flying units goes back to H2, as opposed to the more symmetric lineup for H3+, and I like that this is well-thought strategically with compensation, i.e. the extra war machines, inc. the trebuchet as an alternative to air support for breaking shieldbearer-archer armies.
Score: 8
Jiriki9
I like what you're implying re the lore, but as with FirePaladin's heroes, it's hard for me to be objective since it's similar to what I've been saying. Not accusing you or FirePaladin of plagiarism, I feel like it's a natural evolution of the H4+ Haven, from crusaders-as-portrayed-by-other-crusaders to crusaders-as-portrayed-by-non-Christians.
That said, bonus points for actually talking about the relationship with the other factions, which I didn't think to do originally even though I 100% should have. And the faction skills are really cool.
Score: 8.5
Rimgrabber
I wanted to be annoying and dock points for the Roman theme because it seemed like pure flavor, and then I saw the barbarian as an auxiliary and . I will say that the classes you use don't quite fit the Roman them but try mixing it up with a medieval one in a way that I don't think works (Romans did not have such a thing as templar), but the unit lineup is cool and plays well with a Haven-as-complex-empire-with-auxiliaries theme.
Score: 9
Edit: I have a slight objection to Inferno since it's so similar to Necropolis (I like that H4 merged them, though not the specific way it did), and the H3 Inferno existed in a specific place in the MM lore that doesn't replicate elsewhere. I can still do it, but it'll be a strange lineup that won't look like the Inferno that you're used to and will be more directly based on Christian mythologies of the devil as a trickster.

It's totally cool if you make it different from classic HoMM Inferno, that's the point of the contest Personally I feel like doing Inferno next feels a bit unnatural, but I also did a randomized list exactly for that reason. If you'd rather do another faction we can. Dungeon was next on the list after Inferno, followed by Rampart.

Nah, it's fine, if I wanted to just do my vision I'd start a thread. Or more likely try to code something and then start a thread. I did write a little piece of code for movement on a hex grid, but every actual programmer I know who saw it mocked me for how bad my coding is.

Actually, to me they are not so similar, it depends on your vision of Necropolis AND your vision of Inferno. Yes, they both are "These are evil, all others hate them" factions, but to me, it feels not so hard to keep them different BOTH in terms of gameplay and lore.
