People simp for Samus Aran and Kerrigan all over the web too for instance.

Btw did you hear that Soft-Cheese Larson wants to play Samus Aran? I loved the comment of one of the fans of the latter "mkay, as long as she doesn't take off her helmet through the entire movie".

Ooooh! Oooooh! don't go insulting  actual brie and camembert style cheeses, they have at least more taste and substance to them than that blonde dumbass.

Yeah I heard something like that. don't care actually, never played metroid, don't care for majority of Nintendo stuff in general. although it would be hilarious to see that well planed plank with a brick face to portray a curvaceous blonde.

The thing worth mentioning in case of Nintendo is that it has some vicious fans. Better not cross them

Anyways, I don't think you can get this kind of money with movies like Godfather. I believe that every kind of entertainment should have it's place, but there have been concerns that comic book movies take all the money and good movies have to be put on Netflix. But I can't see a solution that is realistic. People will see what they want to see. Or how would you go about in solving this problem?

There was nothing purist about what I said, I said it’s odd that they became the main thing, not that they should have no place at all. Keep in mind that The Godfather was a blockbuster, it was a hit with stars in it, not some independent festival movie. Or just look how formulaic the new SW movies are compared to the original trio. The thing is, Hollywood’s golden age is over and there is great lack of quality overall comparing it to its own past. Just like you dont have classic Russian novels or Italian Renaissance anymore, American cinema has passed its prime, nothing lasts forever. People wont see what they want to see, people will see what is presented to them and capitalism is not a system that always rewards quality. As one economist puts it, “bad money will sweep out good money.” When the sector turns into a giant circus and people’s attention span keeps getting shorter and shorter, it all becomes about what’s flashier or faster.

I dont think there is a solution to this, one cant change the age they live in. You can follow independent movies more, promote gems that are not so popular. I sometimes do that in the movie thread. But the thing is, movies themselves are not that special anymore either, in the past, there was a time when audinces saw Brando wore no undershirt, undershirt sales dropped by 50 percent, when Jaws hit the saloons Californian beaches turned out empty. Films had greater impact because they were more precious per se. In today’s world, we have thousands of films within the reach of a finger but it has the same effect as the mp3 revolution. Just like we dont listen to an album for months anymore, we are also not drawn into the universe of  a single film for quite some time. Maybe, that’s why TV shows started to have more artistic and dramatic quality compared to movies, the new platforms support this more. But I think this new golden age of TV is about to end also, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Mad Men... It’s been a while since I saw a show that good. Look what happened to Black Mirror, when Netflix bought it, they watered it down, hollywoodized it. Because they had your mentality, “people will see what they want to see.” But nobody was happier, in fact, people miss the satire and darkness of the earlier seasons. People will choose things that are easier to consume because they are lazy, not because they are too stupid to comprehend what’s better. Sometimes you just have to push it a little bit.

Plus most married woman that I know either don't give a crap or straight on laugh at soys. And actually the harshest words that I've heard about feminism comes from females (and women don't pull any punches ). Those females are probably brainwashed though...

any, even moderately successful woman, be it family life, career or both, bashes feminism, esspecially the modern iteration of it. even other feminists, such as Christina Hoff Summers, had stated that modern feminism is utter madness. But then again, ladies like ms. Summers are alt-right trolls to the soys.

I believe this 4chan ebonyposter has put it best, not the meme bit, but their worldview part.

Excellent post artu

I also thought tv-series surpassed movies for a time, but it has come to an halt. So much content, too much even, so the gems are harder and harder to find.

And btw, just because I absolutely love superhero movies of recent years for their entertainment value, doesn't mean that I don't go every year to film festivals to see other kind of cinema. It doesn't have to be either or.

Captain Marvel isn't at the same level as Age of Ultron, it's above it lol. Age of Ultron was weak.

I like how people try to explain why do they enjoy pure entertainment movies like super-hero flicks. Be more honest with yourself guys. You simply are enjoying them (or not depends on what you like). But we don't owe to anybody to explain why we watch these and that movies. The fact of liking superhero movies does not automatically turn you into someone dumb who does not appreciate "ambitious cinema". I have a friend who goes to film festivals to watch mind-bending and ambitious movies, while he enjoys watching silly cartoons with toilet humor at the same time I think the best kind of critic is the one who takes a movie for what it is. Not someone who tries to impress everybody with his ego.

I would have liked it better if it was more serious.

Winter Soldier was one of the best indeed, especially if you consider Captain America comes with a lot of patriotic crap that sometimes seem ironic to the non-American audience. The first Avengers movie perfectly balanced action/humor/conflict between characters, Age of Ultron tried the same but messed it up, I was disappointed, especially since I liked the first one.

With Captain Marvel, it was the opposite, I usually find heroes with ultimate power boring. Superman, Captain Marvel, these are heroes that seem dull to me as a concept. So I wasnt expecting to like it much. But the humor was perfectly balanced, the villains were interesting, their twist was plotted well, the heroine had character development. Samuel Jackson was more fun than usual. So overall, it was a good movie for Marvel standarts.

Anyway, the point was that it was not different than the rest of the franchise in terms of political specturm and it’s really meaningless to claim it is a SJW movie because the lead is a female. Had movies like Alien been done in today’s political climate, they would have been accused of the same thing. Alien is not a movie from the pre-fenimist era, on the contrary, 1979 is right after feminism’s most glorious days and without that, you couldnt have a character like Ripley. You dont have a character like Ripley in 1950’s cinema for instance. The problem is not feminism, the problem is virtue signaling in a shallow sense.

@Kip
Most smart women I know are feminists, they sometimes have objections to fourth wave’s overzealous approach but that is once again rather about the polarization of the internet culture and its echo chambers.

Omg why did you get the impression I was referring to you personally in my post? The bit that you might take as a response to your post is "I like how people try to explain why do they enjoy pure entertainment movies like super-hero flicks. Be more honest with yourself guys. You simply are enjoying them (or not depends on what you like)." - but I did not write it to mock you or anything, rather give you a friendly pat to not be so serious about it. Later in the post I was talking about movie critics in general - I mean people who do it as part of their job. I'm actually not fond of this kind of work because it is very superficial.

Hope I cleared this up?
