Second season is good but in the first Jon Bernthal makes an oscar winning presentation. Completely out of scope with what Netflix America has been showing us.
Artu, the Dirty Harry u are talking about is Clint Eastwood one or there is a remake I'm not ware about?

No remake, I was referring to good ol’ Clint. What I meant was, the Punisher is a pretty worn out concept.

Ironman 1. Although Ironman does have some personality traits that would be considered flawed, in Ironman 1 he is instantly awesome. He gets captured and put in a cave and then he just uses the parts he is given to magically build a suit that turns him into Hercules, and nobody questions it. A producer could not do that with a female character or else the character would be a Mary Sue.

Female characters aren't allowed to be instantly awesome or else they get criticized. They have to suffer immensely and go through various trials, but not men. Men can be instantly awesome and it's fine.

That's not.. quite accurate. I mean Rey learns out of nowhere how to mind control people, use a lightsaber, fly, match a trained jedi, pretty much predict the future(or rather the plot) etc etc. Literally out of nowhere, without effort or experience, with her only background being a scavenger. Tony Stark is a rich jerk but one that had spent his time on technical stuff. He's a mess of a person, the suit he builds gets randomly destroyed soon after, he gets hurt trying to control the new suit he makes. I mean sure, he's privileged in many ways but he puts in the effort, time and ingenuity and is still far from a human paragon. That's why Rey gets called a Mary Sue and Tony Start doesn't.

And sure there is sexism in the world but I'm seeing an unreasonable amount of directionless accusations all over the place that I'm wondering if the SJW/feminist/liberated/whatever aren't worse than the actual sexists. Or just trying to pick a fight by being as loud and obnoxious as possible? It's unbecoming really.

Don't forget healing and lifting 50 tons worth of rock. I mean, Luke was considered a prodigy and at max power he could lift an X-Wing. It took him his whole life to learn ghost projection I think they took inspiration from SW games: random protagonist no-name Jedi's who can topple whole batallions of Troopers...

Rey suddenly having so much power was the weakest side of the plot, in the original trilogy, the force was something closer to far-eastern spiritualism. It was something you earned through monk-like dedication and concentration. In the new movies, it’s simply plain magic. This really affects the whole perception of the universe.

But all of this, in the end, has something to do with younger audiences having shorter attention span and people wanting to see bigger, faster, stronger all the time. After the prequels, they couldnt give the people light saber duels like in the 1977 movie. They wouldnt be “impressed.”

So, even if Rey was male, I dont think it would be any different. Casting is not what’s wrong with the latest trilogy, Rey wasnt irritating, the script was.

Indeed. But considering Kathleen Kennedy wore a t-shirt 'the force is female' makes me think that Rey was written as she was because of a female empowerment agenda. Which is I am hardly against but the actual implementation was pretty bad.

I don't know how much this is true but her contract should end around 2022 and supposedly SW should get a restart/reboot or otherwise something new. We had a female protagonist so I think we now will get either a black or asian protagonist which is ok as long as the movies won't be a pile of garbage again...

I'm positive it would be different.

Also, the monk-like dedication is something that really comes out in the prequels (or the books). Luke has like next-to-zero training but he still blows up the Death Star in A New Hope and defeats Darth Vader at the end of the trilogy after spending a wild weekend of training in the swamp with Yoda, eating soup that was obviously loaded with generous quantities of psychedelic drugs.

People excuse the old movies because they're old. People are also uncomfortable with a heroine being OP even though Luke was more OP than Rey ever was. SW has always been a bunch of bull****, just like Alec Guinness said. Great movies, but still, it's all a bunch of bull****.

1- Blowing up the death star is about finding its technical weakness, not just using the force, the force is only involved in a moment of intuition.
2- The point is, Luke had the training and there was a serious amount of screen time reserved for this, so things didnt feel rushed. The training scenes are mostly symbolic anyway, what has jumping from tree to tree got to do with telekinesis or mind control.  Still, what he was capable of after the training was quite modest compared to the acrobacy of the new films. When the prequels came out with much more sophisticated level of saber fighting, they even attempted to explained this by declaring it wasnt a fight between a rookie and a half-machine man now. Not the case with Rey. Besides when the original trilogy came out, we had nothing to compare it to in terms of how effective force can get. Yet, the last trilogy seems extremely hyperbolic compared to the already existing history that lays before it.
3- It’s a space opera, a fantasy adventure. I dont expect realism. Yet, realism and believability are two different things. The end result is, the force did feel spiritual in the original trilogy and plain magic in the last. This is one of the major complaints by most people, of some who has no reason to favor the original trilogy such as nostalgia.

MeToo. If they weren't expecting a pandered audience to go to the cinema, just cause of the woman protagonist, they wouldn't have gone with a plot that sucked.

Dude, it’s SW. Anybody who was going to see it in theaters, still would. Nobody goes to such films because the lead is female. Do you seriously think of an audience that goes, “well, I wasnt going to see SW this weekend but since it’s a female playing the lead...”

I'm not even saying that was the decisive factor for the general public going, I'm saying it was the decisive factor for the producers to give a go to a weak plot.
That people end up not swallowing it is the reason these pandering works tend to be flops.

And I maintain it, that was the reason producers thought they could give a thumbs up to a weak plot. The fact that turned up not being true doesn't affect what motivations were behind it.
Notice, I don't even believe they are trying to further a cause. It's just that they have swallowed the identity policy paradigma to a point where they think this will satisfy their blinded audiences. Producers doing this are at the same level of Pelosi and other establishment democrats kneeling with garments, they believe their targets are gullible idiots that can be totally manipulated by virtue signaling.
That those audiences aren't that gullible can be testified by the flops, I just hope this will also proves to be true during the next elections.
