serious topics cannot be discussed properly with leftists, because all they do is argue incessantly(as they are trained to do) and irritate people who are grounded in reality(by denying reality itself). you can literally show them videos or pictures of something happening that has NO room open for interpretation, and they will actually see something different than what actually happened. or, any white victims(even children) will be written off(as in jj's "so what?" of an adult non-white putting his knee on the neck of a restrained young white child in response to a non-white druggie criminal being restrained by a white cop), while non-white entities' inexcusable behavior will be excused away for anything they do.

they are unreachable, and only serve to devolve a conversation to the point of "no, you", "no, you".

that some mods even excuse this behavior while punishing others, is reprehensible.

the people who are grounded in reality, are seemingly beset on all sides by actual lunatics, and that lunacy is running rampant; and apparently worldwide.

it's one thing to hear about pack mentality from the dark ages, where they did snowed-up snow to people; it's another thing to see that same behavior in this day and age. it's frankly unsettling to see it so widespread and prevalent. like the world's insanity percentages are multiplying, while the sane are being divided and targeted by their attacks.

there is no reasoning with these people; because they have either lost the ability to reason, or never had it in the first place.

as for loved ones(which is what i was referring to btw, kip) of the same type that you cannot reason with? you can at least love them and treat them according to that.

Had the displeasure of witnessing human nature in its full glory yesterday. There was an accident on a busy tramway line and people had to take the bus for that route. I did so myself since there was no alternative. Needless to say, traffic was extra heavy and some people started losing their minds. I remember being completely disgusted by the behavior of a woman to my right, her IQ inversely proportional to her weight and probably also the reason why she was the loudest out of everyone. Freaking adults acting like whiny children, expecting things to go smoothly in a state of emergency. Instead of practicing some patience and understanding, or just act with some notion of civility, they went on their endless rants over the stupidest things. And it all culminated with the lashing out and shouting at the bus driver. It was an experience.

imo, this self-entitlement and lack of patience got a lot worse with the advent of social media sites glorifying everyday people like they were rock stars(with myspace/facebook, and the like). the narcissism is off the charts these days, i think, because of it. when people stopped seeing rock stars as something to be in awe of, and started seeing themselves on the same level... you know something is rotten in Denmark(my apologies to Danes; it's only a saying here in the states).

that's been my earliest observation. you can also notice this much more in concerts now; people standing still using their phones instead of participating in the concert vibe, and the musicians/singers constantly thanking the crowd like THEY were the actual stars of the show. it's sickening.

I trace it all down to the ego. It's always the ego. Ego, ego, ego, ego. Me, me, me, me. The constant pursuit of satisfying and elevating the self above all else. Ever since I became aware of it several years ago, I started paying attention to it in myself and other people, and I understood one thing - it's such an integral part of how human beings think and act that we couldn't get rid of it no matter how hard we'd try. And while that discovery left me disappointed about our nature, it was also a big moment of understanding. It's like becoming aware of an illness, it's not a pleasant moment, but it's a good and necessary moment for change. Not to mention it's better than staying ignorant.

This caused a division in my mind between people - those who understand the problem of the ego and those who don't. The ones who don't will go on and live their lives with their self at the center, disregarding the reality outside of them. The ones who do will show restraint and thoughtfulness in their behavior and have a more accurate grasp of the outside world. There is certainly measures of those, but the distinction is there nonetheless.

i agree.

it's still weird, seeing all human communication while under the influence of lsd, and seeing it all boils down to egos validating one another by essentially proclaiming,

"i'm here. do you care?"

"yes, i care. do you care about me?"

just at that base level, makes me care about people so much it breaks my heart. all the things we occupy ourselves with, are infinitely superfluous, compared to that core validation.

to have evolved egos and to be so lonely on this planet and constantly seeking self-verification... it's tremendously sad. when i see all the horror and filth go on in this existence, i can't help but wonder why this existence has to be such an unending search for something so fragile within us.

i really wish we could all get past our differences, as a species.

on a lighter note, colder weather is here(at least temporarily), and it's time to curl up under a blanket with a cat and take a nap.

@ kip: i'm aware that people close to one another have been excommunicating those they love based off of their political(thinking) leanings as of late. our relationship is far more solid than some viewpoint. we've been through hell with each other; the people i'm referring to, we're solid, man. take my word on that. i've told them what's almost certainly coming on the horizon, they know my first priority is to keep them safe. the hard times ahead will help strengthen ties even more, as well.

@ geny: i wasn't aware of it being a saying anywhere else. poor danes.

Fun fact, the Sicilian word for mackerel is stummu or strummu, depending on the region, which sounds a lot like stromming.
Some try to give our term a greek derivation, which would solve the little issue of them being two different fishes in the first place.

But it wouldn't be the first time we use a scandinavian word for a fish, like our stoccafissu being derived from stokkfisk (and in a surprising way, it became fishstock, pisci stoccu)

Meanwhile there's a referendum happening to cut down our PMs, sounds awesome, if it didn't mean that basically parliament will become the seat of party members, and not parliamentarians.

Mark my words, next electoral law will be full proportional and local representatives will be slashed to oblivion. Which will indeed justify this cut, since at that point PMs aren't representatives of the people anymore, but just party figureheads brought there to vote yes or no.

Since it's the left doing this, it's obviously a victory for democracy.

Yep, and that's exactly why I don't use social media which I find to be the reason why humanity is declining at more alarming rate then ever.

I don't understand the times I live in, is it me who is crazy and does not fit or are so many people crazy and live by such different values then me? Why do so many people suddenly try to stand out, what's so fun about standing out? They push their views and values on you and completly disregard anything that doesn't suit their worldview, they're "all over the place"... I simply live my life without as much of a general purpose, just to somehow go through it and I don't understand what drives people, why are they so self-centered and trashy. What's the point of being all about me me me in an attract the attention sense?

Yep kinda pointless post, but that is what I actually felt after those few posts above that I read from you guys

fred, your interpretation of reality is not reality itself, you are not some cool headed representative of facts. JJ didnt deny the existence of that incident, neither did he defend or excused the guy, he just said it was an extreme incident and could not be used to label BLM movement in general. And he explained this to you, almost like explaining it to a five year old. Yet, and you always do this, you bring your one-sided version in some other thread, which completely rewrites what actually happened. You did this with Adrius and Meroe, too, and they werent even here to defend themselves. It was a debate, you had your say, he had his, you could not refute his arguments, stop bickering and ranting by manipulating what actually happened. It is dishonest and childish. And you with your mirror, complaining about “no, you’s” really, oh, the irony...

The left has a problem of overzealous political correctness, which ends up in echo chambers that are out of reality, yes, but you guys also have your own echo chambers, you dont achieve it with political correctness, instead, you achieve it by simply stooping down so low, constantly name calling, outright labeling people this and that, meme trolling etc, most people who have an ounce of dignity give up and leave. Or they get provoked and lose their temper like you deliberately try to build up but then you blame them for it. So you end up in your digital ghettos, soy this and soy that, convincing each other how your version of the story is actual reality. Reality is the facts alone, not your opinion of it, and you are one of the most “out of touch” members in here when it comes to reality anyway, there have been times, your comments borderlined clinical level paranoia and delusion, you are not in a position to lecture anyone about reality. It is not reality that people object to in your comments, let that sink in really deep.

Both the left and right are political spectrums, you can find nutjobs or fanatics or clueless kids everywhere, pretending every issue in your country is some fake evil plot implanted by the leftists arent going to make them disappear.

Coincidence has it that most troubles lately have been coming from leftists.

Anyway, at the referendum Sicily had the lowest turnout to vote in all Italy with a whopping 35.39%, making us basically the region where we didn't care at all what would be decided, of that, the lowest turnout was the province of Palermo, with an even more ridiculous 33.16%.

As for myself, I am in that big majority of Sicilians that didn't vote, it was basically one of those decisions that exemplify the Sicilian view of politics, 900 or 750, it's the same thing in the end, they'll do a bad job, this law and vote are a joke, let them do whatever they want, it's sunday, it's hot and I'm tired, I have more serious things to think about than whether to save a coffee each year or not.

Kinda was leaning on a no vote tbh, but again, it's such a non-consequential decision that I don't care if the yes won.

You should see the salt on twitter tho, turns out that there was a huge bipartisan swath that is crying about this.

I hope we Sicilians continue with this trend of avoiding participating in Italian stuff, so that we can build a bigger and bigger case for secession.
