Vial of Dragon Blood
Gives control over Dragons and enables a person to turn into one itself. I mean, how cool is that?

Angel Wings, obviously.
Although the Golden Goose would be a close runner-up.

I'd pick... The Angel Wings from HOMM3! They grant you and your army the ability to fly!
I've always dreamt of soaring through the heavens like a bird, the wind harshly caressing my face. Ahhh, the wonder of flight with no machines involved!
The Wings can also be used to get more quickly and effortlessly from one place to another. Given that 95% of all my nightmares are about me being late yet again, I'd say that owning the Wings is going to finally grant me some peace of mind.
The only problem with this artifact is the enormous amount of space they occupy! Seriously, an entire hex! How am I supposed to stuff them in any of my wardrobes! And I guess walking around with them still on me is going to make me look like some freak from a circus rather than nobility. No matter, let them laugh! Let them rejoice and forget their commoners' burdens for a brief moment. Being able to fly is worth all the trouble.

Ha, you beat me to it! And your close second is similar to mine, though for me it'd be the Endless Purse of Gold. A bag or a sack would be too tedious to carry around, and a looking after a goose... Geese are jack@sses. Only swans are bigger jerks than them. Anyway, 250 gold can certainly cover the daily expenses of even the most spoiled snob.

being that i only really remember the artifacts from homm3, i came here initially to post "armageddon's blade", but after some thinking...
spellbinder's hat would be good, because i could cast fly , implosion , summon all elementals, and use titan's lightning bolt.
on the other hand, the tome of earth(mainly for resurrection and implosion) or air(haste, view air, disguise, fortune, hypnotize, dimension door, and fly would all be awesome). hell, even the tome of water(bless, cure, summon boat, visions, mirth, teleport, clone, even prayer) would be awesome.
but then, there are the combined artifacts that i think technically count as just one(once combined); but i don't think any of them trump the magic tomes mentioned above.
the pendant of courage deserves an honorable mention. +3 morale and luck both would really be awesome in most of our lives, i think.

I always wondered how the f* this single artifact was able to make an entire army with 1500 Gremlins and 100 Titans fly. Oh well, it's one of those "you loose the moment your try to apply logic" instances...
An artifact that controls dragons and turns you into one at least makes sense!

Blob, but if you were to use the Vial "in real life", there wouldn't be any dragons to control, which kind of sucks.
Unless you could generate dragons too, in this case I'd choose it.

I see you didn't catch the irony in my post
Alas we assume that the point of this post is that you could use the artifacts with their respective effects.
For instance, otherwise fred couldn't use any Tome of Magic, becasue guess what? There is no magic in rl...  (yep, this is supposed to sound depressing fyi)

I was already depressed with the thought that there are no dragons in real life after I saw the image with the Vial. So, yeah, I get what you mean. 
I assumed that we were supposed to choose the artifacts that could "work" even in the real world. That's why I would choose an artifact that lets you fly or that generates gold. Anyway, sorry to ruin the fun with my nitpicking.

Unless some of you guys know how to cast any of the Heroes spells IRL, I think Angel Wings is the only answer or perhaps Boots of Levitation, if you feel like being more discreet.

the pendant of courage is more practical than both of those, if we want to go with real effects.
sure, you can fly, but without "protection from air/earth/fire/water" or protective gear, you're going to get snowed up flying around in our atmosphere. and cold, too. it's cold up there, unless you're looking to just coast above the trees.

How do you plan to cast Protection From X?
Pendent of Courage gives morale and luck, which I suppose could also be useful.

and just how are you going to get those wings to flap? figured that out yet?
we're already talking about magic. kind of leaves everything else open, does it not? the rules that you would need a spell book/spell points become moot, being that we're not bound by the rules of a game, here.
