Poll Question: Magic schools for spell specialists?
Should spell specialists start with the corresponding magic school? (Having Wisdom replaced with a magic school.)
I feel like this would make some heroes and spells more attractive, if you actually had the magic school you need right from the start.

Voted for the current situation. Not exactly topic related, but I must say it would have been a fine idea by the developers if some heroes would have had spell schools as starting skills even in ROE. Also, forcing (almost) all magic heroes to start with Wisdom wasn't a good decision either. If those two things were done differently, magic heroes would be slightly better than they're now, and there would be more unique heroes, now most of the magic heroes are simply Wisdom + Mysticism, Wisdom + Intelligence, etc.

Being conservative, eh Hourglass?
Yeah perhaps you are right, though I did make Coronius start with Fire Magic and Olema start with Water Magic, as they will be royally screwed over trying to learn these schools.
Would have been more interesting if some heroes started with magic schools instead of always Wisdom though.

Wouldn't really make much of a difference imo, and I'm inclined towards keeping the stuff already included in the game as untouched as possible.

Well, I, too, would like the game to stay pretty close to original, and not mess up with hero skills, specialities or even starting spells. Rather, I feel these kinds of things should be done for new heroes, because nobody doens't have any experience with them, and nobody expects anything. As I expect we're talking about Hota here, the Factory patch would be a great place to introduce new ways of what kind of skills heroes start with or how they play in general.
Also, if they would like to change some things on currently existing heroes, I feel the best way could be to simply make new heroes from scratch and ban the hero who's being replaced. This is something that I would personally want to see happening for Eagle Eye specialists, as they just don't really seem to have a place in this game. The existing specialists could be replaced with more meaningful heroes, why not few of them could be heroes with a matching spell speciality and secondary skill?

New heroes would also be great yeah.
I think it was confirmed Eagle Eye and some other skills were planned for an overhaul in HotA, so hopefully it won't be necessary to replace Eagle Eye or First Aid specialists.

I would absolutely vote yes for some new or reworked heroes specialties. Why keep these old and useless heroes in your game? You will never pick them with joy (Iam speaking for singleplayer, dunno about MP).
A water magic specialist could for example cast water spells with increased effect.

Agreed.
Some specialties are quite bad, for example Slayer, Precision, Weakness and Fortune.
If they had the needed magic school, they would at least have that going for them.

Absolutely. I do this in my hack already. If a hero is going to specialize in a skill, then it needs to be guaranteed that hero will be able to eventually cast that spell to its greatest capacity.

For me, to making more atractive, the best solution is to limit the able skills pero class.
for example: Might heroes cant learn "Fire School" o just limit to "basic" level.
the same for magic heroes and the Might skills.

I agree. Voted yes.
I remember some years ago I was checking the starting skills of every hero and was bothered by the fact that only Conflux heroes start with a magic school skill. And that town has the magic university anyway. It would be nice to have heroes from other towns starting with a magic school, even more so if they have a spell specialty. Good idea.
And while I love the original game with all its imbalances, I do think that plenty of the heroes could use a boost to make them more useful.

I think the Hero who has a specialty should get bonuses slightly better than someone with expert level of the magic school. It should cost less to cast, cause more damage than another with expert, and should automatically have a mass-effect (haste etc). If the hero then gets the magic school, the bonuses can be added to that.
