Can there be a more pretentious (and ridiculous) statement than

"Dr. Meyer does a superb job in accurately describing the physics and cosmology that show the universe had a beginning"?

I mean - doesn't that sound as if Dr. Tipler was a first-hand witness of it all, but was to busy to find the time to lay everything down so that the unknowing public may get the picture, and now Dr. Meyer did exactly that, finding praise from the guy who witnessed it all?

Like, someone wrote a book titled, "Liverpool in the 50s and the origin of the Beatles", and Paul McCartney commenting, "Someone does a superb job in accurately describing the conditions in Liverpool and the general situation in Northwestern Europe that show how the Beatles began".

Yeah, it's like, some people say they don't believe there is a God, and yet they hate this God that doesn't exist so much.

Sounds really rational.

Did you even read my post? I wrote that the OTHER guy's comment about the book was extremely pretentious - as if HE had witnessed everything firsthand and now finally found someone who could phrase it the right way.

The book hasn't been published yet, so nothing can be said about it - at least not by me. But if he had made a SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY he wouldn't write a book about it (but publish an article in a scientific journal), so I think it will be a speculation with the aim to earn money.
Tipler himself has written some highly controversial stuff that is speculative at best, so for me this is pseudo-religion.

I mean, seriously, why is it so important whether there is a god or not? When you die you'll be either dead forever, not knowing it, or you'll not be dead forever and see for yourself.

EDIT: And Ohfor ask a couple very legitimate questions...

Yeah, it's like, some people say they don't believe there is a God, and yet they hate this God that doesn't exist so much.

Sounds really rational.

What they hate is illogical, childish arguments presented as if they are “nailing it.” Being constantly surrounded by organized stupidity. A cosmological singularity doesnt necessarily mean a god and the universe (space-time) is an actually simple thing in the beginning. It is desperate to explain the beginning of such a thing by a god (a creator personality), something more complex and much more unlikely to come out of nowhere. We KNOW how personalities evolve, we know the biochemistry behind it, it cant come before space time itself. If you are talking about a creature that is beyond time and space (which is actually non-sense because action, including the action of creating, can not exist without time), then, you are simply talking about good old fashioned magic. And physics professors are not referring to magic when they talk about a cosmological singularity. The meme is an ill-intentioned manipulation. And what is really annoying is, the religious groups producing such manipulations claim they are doing this to defend morality and meaning. They are lying out of their teeth, because their existence starts to depend on twisting the truth, which is quite ironic, since they also claim to be preaching it all the time.

He's german. they revel in destruction of anything that might pose a semblance of morality. just look at the damage reformation and veimar republic had done. and that's just two examples of their 2000 year long reign of destruction.

What, Reformation and Weimar Republic (it's Weimar, not Veimar, by the the way), that's all? What about Marx and Engels? Or Werner Heisenberg, destroying certainty as we knew it?
And all those philosophers. Corrosive and subversive. Even the artists - who can look at an Otto Dix painting and not vomit all over the canvas? German rock music? The names speak volumes - Einstürzende Neubauten (Collapsing New Builds)? Abwärts (Downwards)?

Uh, I disagree

In the presence of God life is pointless. He just snaps his fingers and poof, there we are.

In the absence of God it took as millions of years to get where we are today. So I find that pretty damn amazing and not pointless at all.

german rock is garbage, at least the most well known band. and I see you still have text comprehension problems, as I put that my posted examples are just two of many. arguably did the most damage too, aside from everyone's favourite austrian failed painter and his gang of methheads.

I see you know jackcrap about music as well - Garbage is a rockband, but not a German one.

Also - I've no idea under what illusion you stand about the "most wel-known German rockband", the most successful are the Scorpions. Sure, Rammstein isn't probably far away, and the name is fittingly "desastrous" and "destructive", but still.

And just think about the destructive influence that German bands like Can or Kraftwerk had.

Can't take credit for that mad Austrian, though. Sure, we offered him the stage.

On a more serious note, Reformation is the fault of the decadent Vatikan clan and their cronies, not ours. Our guy just spoke up, but he wasn't the only one. And what is now Germany became devastaded because of it 100 years later, because it became the battlefield.

We always pay the price.
