AI-changes

Its amazing that the AI can locate the graal, when only visiting a single obelisk. This is unbalanced, since the graal can be located in the underworld, for example in 'Myth and Legends'. One should be able to gain the same final point, if visiting all obelisks...

The AI also seem to 'see through' the areas that it has not visited, and thus is 'black'.

One other thing I noticed, is that if you create a single path blocked by something, and let it divide into two paths, then placing an event in one of them, for example being attacked by 100 titans, the AI will never choose it...
Wow, that was a long sentence

AI vs. Human Brains...

Well.. don't you still think you have a little advantage using human brains.. .It's still more efficient than AI.. .isn't it?

The AI in every major strategy game cheats a little in order to put up a better fight against the human players. As long as it is done fairly, it can actually contribute to the player's enjoyment of the game. Without the Impossible difficulty setting (which gives the CPU a great advantage), many players would have just given up on Heroes III after a while.

Difficulty

Now that you noticed impossible difficulty setting. I certainly hope 3DO makes some of the standard H4 maps more difficult and maybe one expert campaign. It was a big dissapointment when i just got H3 and played the most difficult XL map on impossible difficulty level, amd won on my second try. Luckily there a many amateur map makers who DO make some very challenging maps. If it wasn't for them i would have quited playing heroes long ago. So a big thanks to all you 'impossible difficulty level' map makers !

The reason why the computer can already find the grail from one obelisk is that unless the piece uncovered is pure blackness (from underground), the tiles uncovered by one obelisk piece often occur so rarely in a map that a computer can fins it easily, what with unlimited patience, a sharp eye and a heck of a lot of free time, even humans could do this. Probably the reason why 3DO allowed this one obelisk search pattern was because once a human player has made it into the mid-game, the computer tends to never uncover the obelisks in the players territory unless the player loses. 3DO should refrain from allowing this search pattern from being used by the AI until it has uncovered a prerequisite amount of obelisks (the number should increase the easier the difficulty, easiest should force the AI to locate all the obelisks).

Yes I have played SOD. And although I do agree it is more difficult then standard H3 or AB it is not THAT difficult. Hmm.., I am a modest person but I think it is very true to say that I am a excellent HOMM player. I have played Heroes 1, 2, 3 for countless hours. Combine this with my chess like approach (and love!) of the Heroes game and it easy to understand why.

Outside cover of darkness does not ring a bell. Is it the name of map ?
