I agree with.. Yes like boom or type also found.. What you think some votes him-/herself in the maps4heroes? Do you know that maps4heroes uses only like button. and we can see you press like your map.. Youtube has aged techinque!?! I don't also think lesser dislike.. Other 404, what I can't also show you, it said like has comment, but dislike isn't same. So like said be true.. Hmm ok

for the record, i've never "liked or disliked" youtube videos. i don't have a youtube account. the thousands(sometimes millions) of dislikes videos get, don't even reflect the true number of dislikes it actually would get, if everyone participated.

This is an obviously coward move to silence dissent and I don't see how anybody can support it.
Of course we should know which videos are disliked.
This corporate propaganda only exists in order to enable to sell UNPOPULAR products and propaganda, therefore substituing money for public opinion.
It is just one more proof that the algorithm doesn't work according to your likes and desires, but as a tool of indoctrination of THEIR desires for YOU.

NimoStar! I don't know about you, but Russia can add on media. People say like. If YouTube removes Russian media. YouTube loses all. I mean the Eastern people can see trash also a part of Western people who are religion, etc

Because supressing it is a way to sell trash products and ideas when collective knows they are trash.
Normal scenario:
* Oh, cool ad for a game! Wait, why is the dislike to like 100 to 1? There must be something wrong with this, better research...
Ah! The comments say this studio releases rushed trash and has been disappointing fans with buggy releases for decades which they then refuse to fix or refund!
Nightmare dystopía scenario:
* Oh, cool ad! Wait, why are likes and comments off? Oh, must be nothing, it's just standard industry practice...

Because dislikes are disinformation.
And if you buy something because the ad is cool without researching a product you deserve being screwed over.
In case you didn't notice it, people push the dislike button (or downrate something) for all kinds of reasons, lots of them having nothing to do with the actual vid or product.

Well, it depends, if I watch a tutorial or how to fix something video the like/dislike ratio can help me screwing over my time or not.

Happened! I've seen poor chess teaching but I've not commented. The wrong lesson brought like but loses from the game in a chess club. I'm lazy. Now I noticed my chess level went down. If I just want a comment I need a chess machine. ****

Look, this is plain bull what you put forth here. Lots of words with no content. Dislike is like thumbs down in Rome.
I don't know about you, but I'm not interested in the fact that there is a dislike - I'm interested in the REASONS WHY there is a dislike. Because dislike AS SUCH has no informational value.
In fact, people who just dislike something without actually COMMENTING on the why aren't even worth to be considered as source of information, which is why it's disinformation.
Because - be honest now - when you yourself have an opinion about something, positive or negative, based on actual experience with it, and you start to read the comments contrary to your own opinion - how often do you find yourself shaking your head about what you read?
And that's the COMMENTED likes/dislikes.

Don't be foolish, I explicitely said that dislikes WITHOUT COMMENT are the problem because those dislikes are worthless.
Comments, however, are fine, whether positive or negative, and in fact I even encouraged people in this thread to avoid vids with disabled comment section, ikf that kind of thing is important for them.
So cut the crap here. It's just about a silly outlet for people to anonymously vent beef they have. Anonymously disliking things is one of the most, if not THE most negative aspect of internet culture and has nothing whatsoever to do with free speech or democracy or some such. It's just a tool for the mob.

Criticizing comments can be erased, likes/dislikes not. A thumb down or up is exactly as anonymous as a comment, since almost nobody shares on the net his real name.
But as I said, its not about the ethical aspect of disliking something without being forced to explain, but about from where it comes and why.
Recently thousands of YT and twitter accounts were suspended or deleted. Some on purpose of course, but many others just because they challenge the vaccination, the immigration, the criminality statistics and so on. It's not hard to grasp then that every new policy removing some action is discriminatory towards same way of thinking. On the other side, the only way random people had to express their disagreement was the thumb down, since critical comments were just deleted.
I call this "forced (un)education" and the only thing it deserves is a big thumb down.
