I loved the squirrel of light. And also the inclusion of what looks like the Market of Time.
And I wonder if Nick is going to be one of the actual Palace heroes.

Fun fact: that one squirrel was originally red, but it looked very odd in that spot, so I just decided to lower its saturation down to 0 and leave it like that, instead.

Yes, to confirm it, it's 100% an Aprils Fools. It looks so good because most models used are already polished and used in H3, so it wasn't a big deal to just move them to another scene and render them differently. Otherwise, thank you, once again!

I have just seen that the user ‘Phasma’ posted some information regarding DoR on the unofficial H3-Wiki earlier today. Among this information there are town portraits for Palace and two other towns, one of which is the Forge (second town in the second row) which uses a different picture than the original NWC Forge (third town in the second row) and the other one he called ‘Mystery town’ (second town in the third row). The interesting thing is: I don’t think, I have ever seen these pictures for other mod towns before (Or am I mistaken?).
So I am wonderning: Is he in on the project and these pictures are official?

It does look official - there's a new public screenshot (first seen in the h3.gg 25th anniversary championship trailer, but it's up on DoR's Facebook page now), and it indeed has that Forge town picture, and what looks like that mystery town as seen on the map itself.
That screenshot has a lot of other interesting things, incidentally, so I definitely recommend everyone to check it out (new terrains is just part of the iceberg).

Well, it is about time to show it here as well, and I hope you will love it at least just as much as we and the guys at H3GG do! 
I will be quoting Zuuzel, one of the organizers of the H3GG tournament (you can watch its registration trailer here, where the screenshot linked below is also present)!
"Hello everyone! I would like to share something with you. Courtesy of the DoR team on the occasion of the opening of the Heroes III XXVth Anniversary Championship, I received this screenshot of the progress working of the project. The Day of Reckoning project will introduce 3 new factions to the game and for the first time this screenshot shows the Forge fortification and also some models of objects and units on the adventure map. Interestingly the Forge project is being developed in consultation with Greg Fulton one of the creators of Heroes III in order to replicate as much as possible the original concept that was to be released with the Armageddon's Blade expansion. In addition to the aforementioned Forge, the project will introduce the town of Palace and a third town visible on the left-hand side of the screen, which we do not know much about yet."
PRESS ON THE IMAGE TO VIEW AT FULL RESOLUTION.
An official update in the near future might further elaborate on the screenshot itself.

This looks amazing, and the fact you are working with Greg Fulton is super cool.
I love all the little art details, like the spooky eyes in the crystal cavern and the gems scattered about the frozen gem pond.
A lot of old familiar faces among the units too.

All the castles look great I wonder what the castle in the upper left corner might be related to. Great decision with changing the Forge to another one from NWC it still looked like it was in Beta and here everything is for the better the addition promises to be great and a revolution in the world of Heroes. The map is very detailed and nice, I can not wait to play the new scenarios and campaigns, judging by the details the level will be as in hota or more
