Gelu hailing thread

Hello, here comes my story.

My desire to see sharpshooters in action is the only reason I've recently come back to play Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete again after many years.
I only played Gelu seriously in all campaign maps. Maps without Gelu were skipped with "nwcredpill", I didn't use any other codes though.

In the scenario "Fall of Sandro", Gelu became an incredibly formidable hero.
+ Gelu (Lv.38): 36 Might 35 Defense 33 Magic 35 Knowledge
+ Speciality: Train archers to make them sharpshooters
+ Equipment: Helm of Heavenly Enlightenment, Celestial Necklace of Bliss, Sandals of the Saint

Skills: Expert Leadership, Expert Archery, Expert Logistics, Expert Wisdom, Expert Offense, Expert Armorer, Expert Earth Magic, Expert Resistance
Spells: Summon 120+ Earth Elementals, Dimension Door, Town Portal, Meteor Shower, Implosion, Slow, Ice Bolt, Clone, Bless, Cure, Fly, Teleport, Haste, Resurrection
Map difficulty: Expert or above

Sharpshooters can be recruited very early from day one and their prices reflect their higher stats, speed and impressive specials (no obstacle and range penalty).
Gelu can easily resurrect a large number of sharpshooters. With 33 magic, 83 or 120 sharpshooters (with or without Elixir of Life) can be resurrected at once if I remember it correctly.

Even with a melee penalty, sharpshooters can still deal considerable melee damage. Even tier 7 creatures (crystal dragons included!) will fear attacking sharpshooters head-on, they will block sharpshooters' ranged attack and attack fodder nearby (or the catapult) instead.

I attacked Sandro with 20 gold dragons, 383 sharpshooters and 150 silver pegasi (Month 3, week 2 and day 3) without any losses.

I often wait gold dragons to deliver two strikes in a row and avoid enemy focus fire
I also often wait stacks of sharpshooters to deliver double strikes, especially if a victory is imminent (to cut off an enemy hero's retreat).

Stray silver horses will block ranged enemies to interrupt their shooting, one of them even blocked a large group of Dread Knights for a noble sacrifice, preventing them from attacking gold dragons

In the 2nd campaign (when Gelu still had the Tactics skill), I used centaurs to wall in and protect sharpshooters (nice, expendable troops to be recruited for free in buildings outside Rampart towns).
Enemy heroes often like to blast a large stack of centaurs with spells, saving Gelu mana points and sharpshooters a lot of trouble.

Rampart is also the best town (friendly to nature, beautiful creatures like flying horses and unicorns) and it's the only town with the ability to make a huge fortune with enough time.

This game has brought me good memories again. Many years will go by and Gelu will remain the one individual I can remember in this game.

I like Gelu, of course his specialty is really cool, and his campaigns are neat, but I like him because Gelu is an old Romanian name.

If it wasn't for Gelu we wouldn't have heroes 4!

Kilgor as well. Sword of Frost and Armageddon's Blade.

Gelu is little overpower. Once time I win without town building because I have sharpshooters at start and all shooters was fast converted before AI start built! I think that Gelu should start with only 1 sharpshooter. I would be more interesting!
