Quite different from Heroes, you won't be able to fight anything around for 50+ turns, so its just circling around and clicking on "do not engage" every time you visit some ruin. Probably strategy starts middle game, it's not for me.

I might try it when it drops in price. it looks interesting but too much similarities with Sorcerer King is my first feeling.
I've played a bit of Hero's Hour recently which is pretty similair with HoMM although combat is faster (and you have somewhat less control).

I always was disappointed by warlock because it reminded me of MoM and did not live up to that expectation...
EDIT 2: btw am I the only one around who played the original masters of magic? It was so awesome to me...but much closer to civ than to HoMM. MUCH closer.

Initially, I was diasappointed by Warlock as well, but apparently I gave up on it too early, since it got a lot of additional content in time, making the game surprisingly good, after all.
