You can't play Shadow of Death, Armageddon Blade and Complete Edition bigger than 800x600 if you don't use HD mod - it is called HD mod for a reason, right?
What you are talking about is ROE HD edition, which means half of game, full of bugs and missing features. Indeed, ancient history.

Complete Edition and, been able to play it for the past 12 years at 1280 x 1024.

If you're playing complete edition in a resolution higher than 800x600, you are using the HD mod, not the steam edition.

For the 3rd time, Ubisoft`s Ubisoft Connect game client`s Editions.
Games on that new game client:
Heroes 3 Complete
Heroes 5: T.o.E(Heroes 5 vanilla with H.o.F. as a DLC onto it, seperately)
Heroes 6: S.o.D
Heroes 7: T.b.F.
Monopoly Plus: PC Edition.
More than a dozen more not installed.
Steam game client: About a whole dozen of fighting games installed and, about 5 not installed.
Gog Galaxy game client uninstalled(no need of it anymore).
I am a serious gamer, right? Still, take the time of having a life off the computer and xbox s console.

Unnecessary. The fan made HD mod is fantastic. It doesn't change the gameplay, but the way the game plays  It would be impossible for me to play HoMM3 again without the many small UI improvements, regardless of the resolution matter.
Also, over the years I have already bought HoMM3 three times. I'm not buying it a fourth time on steam.

I voted for Heroes 2. Heroes 2 has better graphic than Heroes 3 and Heroes 4. Heroes 2 has better sound than Heroes 3. Also, Heroes 2 has better Ai ( computer) than Heroes 3. The computer at Heroes 3 do not put defensive troops at his cities. Also, at Heroes 3 the magic- Dispel is bad, if your hero has Water magic. Also, H3 has only one blinding spell- Blind, while H2 has 2 spells- Blind and Paralyze.
ALso at H3 there are 2 artifacts versus the ONE spell ( Blind)- "Badge of Courage" and "Pendant of Second Sight".
Also the spell ""Berserker at Heroes 3, at heroes with skill- ""Fire magic -expert level"", could make 4 units to fight among themselves.
At Heroes 2, even using the spell "berserker" at a single enemy unit is very powerful. So "" Mass berserker"" is Super powerfull... too much powerful spell.
Berserker must be as the spell- Antimagic, only at one unit.
Also, I don't like the specific grounds as Cursed Grounds ( Prevents the casting of spells above Level 1) and Magic Plains ( Causes all spells to be cast at expert level).
Also, at Heroes 3 there are many too powerful artifacts which change the whole game. These artifacts make the game dependent only on LUCK, or just find a powerful artifact to win the game. The Overpowered artifacts are- Spellbinder's Hat ( which give all 5 level spells), Tome of Air Magic, Tome of Earth Magic, Tome of Fire Magic, and all combined artifacts ( Cloak of the Undead King and others ),Orb of Inhibition( prevents all spell casting) , Recanter's Cloak ( can NOT cast level 3 or higher spells during combat ).
The last 2 artifacts nullify the effects of several hero secondary skills- Sorcery, Wisdom, Air Magic, Earth Magic,Fire Magic, Water magic.These artifacts also nullify the experience, the gained levels and all Spell Power and all knowledge, which a hero collected before a battle.
But there is not an artifact to nullify the Attack and Defence of a hero. ( That will make the game even more stupid. )
At Heroes 3, also the Tomes of magics are very powerful, so they may decide the winner from a multiplayer game. A player may build "Mage guild" at a city and reach level 5 spells after collecting about 28 of each rare resources. A player need about a month( 28 days) for that. But at the same time a player may take a powerful artifact after 13 or 14 days. So it is only LUCK involved from the map generator to put some of these artifacts around your city and win the game.
Heroes 3 with all these artifacts is more stupid than heroes 1.
Heroes 2 has everything which heroes 1 has and much more..
Heroes 3 has more units, but they are just a half of the game. The other half or the game are the spells. Using artifacts preventing spell casting make Heroes 3 worse that Heroes 1 and Heroes 2, with less options , less tactics, less strategy.
At Heroes 3 could be add artifacts which "" Halves the damage from a specific spell"", as it was at Heroes 2.
Also, if some player say that ""the Conflux hero- Luna is the best starting hero"", it means that Heroes 3 has very stupid Ai( computer). At all RPG games, the NPC( computer controlled units ) try to go around Fire walls. So to have effect a fire wall, the player use one fire wall in front of the enemy unit, and after that, the player casts a Fire wall over the enemy unit.
Also, the heroes at Heroes 3 are totally mess. What does that spy Inferno hero- Edric do at Castle faction ??!!
I know for sure that most of the "" pluses for Heroes 3" at the voting come from Multiplayer players.
The only thing where Heroes 3 is better than Heroes 2 are "the option for Limit of a turn- 1,2,3 minutes" and "" the Random map generator- RMG".
But I hope so the makers of the fun made mode"" Fheroes2" will add soon "the option for Limit of a turn" and "" the Random map generator- RMG" to Heroes 2 , so the game will become better that Heroes 3 at everything.. So Heroes 2 will become very good for multiplayer games too.
At the same time, even if somebody fix the problems with artifacts, spells, the messed heroes, and the Ai ( computer) at Heroes 3, it will still has worse graphic and sound than Heroes 2.
