I see that as a good thing. It allows for interesting map designs. Like, on some smaller maps, there is only only 1 gem mine, and everyone has to fight for it.

With marketplaces you can just gather a lot of resources and it will work somehow.

If you want to make such a map in H3 you can just disable the marketplace from all towns' building options.

but 500 gold is only at expert level, think about it, 3 levelups to get your 500 gold, so I would balance it like this:
Estates
Effect
Basic: +250 gold/day
Advanced: +500 gold/day
Expert: +1000 gold/day

The point was picking estates over sorcery in vanilla game.

Making estates more powerful was already done in WoG but that's modded game, sorcery also got some pretty features. In WoG I would always pick sorcery over estates, visiting objects from a distance is god level.

I don't like Sorcery produces resources, because I'm H4 player.. In H4 3DO could replace Bandits and Stealth..

I call Bandits are almost OP, when they are speed, but low HP.. In H3 Rogue is a slow but high HP.. IF YOU GIVE 100HP and 14 SPEED.. or you can play in Time of Prophecy.. It's good example.. If I remember right.. The next thing

"Stealth is a secondary skill in Heroes of Might and Magic IV. The hero becomes invisible to other units on the adventure map. The hero also gains minor experience points if they bypass hostile creatures on the map.

Stealth is related to secondary skill Scouting. By default, thieves start with this skill.

Grandmaster Stealth makes the hero invisible to all creatures and heroes on the Adventure Map, even if they have Master Scouting. The hero can be seen by heroes with Master Scouting if he is adjacent. The hero can only hide himself, not other creatures or heroes. It requires the hero to learn Grandmaster Scouting and Master Stealth."

Just 3DO replaced Learning and Scouting in WoG.. That's why H3,5.. Even if our Vlaad made one WoG map showed invisible cloak can walk past the enemy.. Because he's also H4 player, but not a favourite about his WoG and H4 maps.. His one H4 map showed thousands Faerie Dragons.. So only heroes without troops.. You must search for spells, artifacts, etc against Faerie Dragons.. Newbie for Hypnotize, etc but Vlaad is a pro player needed puny something.. Later on one guy could take his idea.. I can't know, because we can't trust made on the date.. So thousands Devil vs only one hero 1lvl, but hero with all spells.. Even if stealth.. And then fight against Devil.. I'm not pro in English.. But I've played both strategies.. If I also remember right.. So I left Devils, and later on Stealth, and I went to Devils back.. But first 3DO taught already in Half-Dead campaign.. Because of H3 style.. Strong player went to H4.. and realized no sense.. An example of your trick to map.. Awesome some player gives rating.. But MP, etc

The ability to sneak past a neutral creature depends on the creatures level compared to your stealth level, nothing else. But experience gained depends on stack size. So, if there are some powerful treasure guards on the map, the amount of experience you can get is insane. That Thief can steal basically all ressources and artifacts on the map long before you have the ability to defeat the guards, and will end up as your highest leveled hero without a single fight.

OK, well then, I agree, estates over sorcery, because gold is better than +15% spell damage at expert level.

I really can't see, how the secondary skills can be implemented perfectly. As it is, there are skills you must have, und skills that are unwanted. But if it was well balanced and all skills were equally useful, your choice would basically not matter any more.

However, I would like the option to skip the secondary skill at level up, when there are only bad choices.


There also is the issue, that supoporting heroes don't fight and therefore don't level. I would like to have Scouting or Pathfinding on my scouts. But I wouldn't waste valuable XP for this. That XP belongs to my main.

I think, none-combat secondary skills should not be acquired through combat, but by other means. Like, you have a small chance to learn Scouting, when a hero uncovers unexplored areas. Or randomly learning Pathfinding, when travelling difficult terrain.

You would still need the option to turn it down, that is true.

Well, it is all wishful thinking. As it is, in H3 support heroes only get XP if they have Scholar or Estates. In H3.

What do you guys actually think about the nobility skill in H4? Nobility heroes seem to be mandatory for every city. But do you develop them?

I like Scouting in H4 than H3..

BECAUSE OF..

"Grandmaster Scouting +5 Scouting radius and the ability to view enemy Town and Army screens. The hero can also see enemies with Grandmaster Stealth on the adventure map. It requires the hero to learn Expert Pathfinding."

AND..

"Tactics has related artifacts and hero classes that also increase potency, by having:

miscellaneous artifact telescope/viewing crystal equippedleft arm Breeze the Falcon artifact equippedthe hero as a seer class"

So telescope gives +1 Scouting radius.. Viewing crystal gives +2.. and hero can use 4 or 5 accessories.. plus Breeze the Falcon gives also +2 in left hand.. It does a total of 15 or 17 Scouting radius

But ACM or other WoG script MODs can realize them.. So yes I'm using.. If SoD, etc I never picked them..

SO WE CAN TALK ABOUT NOBILITY IN HERE, because ACM.. Now's H4 is in another thread.. Ok
