Yes, in a way.
The problem that arises if everything you do are ultimatly for you, are the problem of justifying your existence.
I justify my own in the fact that I was created in to a community, and have dutys as well as rights. If not religious, just say born in to, and not created

i am willing to die for something i believe in, but it must make a difference, be worth it, that would be grand, to be remembered as someone who sacrificed his/her life for something greaters.

I am willing to die to save a loved one ..hmm..dunno what else..should be enough I think...

although there might be a problem when 2 of my loved ones are in need of saving ..then i wouldn't know who to give my life for..

hmm..nevermind..it's a difficult question anyways..

Allrighty, Viggers. Nice to see you got your thread going. Now, I've let some rather obvious typos slip, but this just got a little to heavy for an obsessive-compulsive like myself. Well then, down to business:

Quote:
Interesting...
What I mean is that if you live according to your beliefs, you will fine purpose

OK, I'll put this one on the account for typos (I'm counting on you to know the spelling of the word "find"

Quote:
You say you belive that beeing good to others eventually reflects on you.

A quite nasty one. Could be a slip of the finger, but I'll point it out just to make sure. Believe.

Quote:

If the only reason to end ones live, "the thing worth dying for", is your own suffering... is then only your personal pyscical condition what matters?

Okidoki; here it gets kinda out of hand... One's life and physical (not, contrary to common belief, pyscical)

Quote:
but also if you enter the realms of pilosofers such as Jean Paul Sartre, and to a certain degree Søren Kierkegaard you will find arguments for life beyond just living. The choise and all that..

Philosophers.
choice.

And then, to Kynos:

You say the only purpose of your (and, if I understood you correctly, others) life is to survive and make as best you can for yourself.

Then how does a mother think, sacrificing herself in order to save her child's life?

Do you think she was wrong doing so?

Or do you believe it to be nothing more than a survival of the species instinct, remnants from an animalistic heritage?

And what then of a boy doing the same for his brother?

I would but ask a simple question:
In "our" community I would think there were a general facination for the honour and noblenesscode of Fantasy.
My question is therefor: What do YOU think it is worth dying/sacrificing your life for?
Do one and all have a duty? Are one honourbound to fullfill the codex of ones own Fantasy (like middlearth and so on) facination?
Just a question, and I would be thankfull for any replie.
Humble greetings

There is only one thing worth living or dying for, and it is love. everything else is meaningless in comparison. There is no duty to anything but yourself.
