He can read too...wow! I'm impressed...

Anyway, i read pretty much any fantasy book that falls in my hands. The Conan saga, first and foremost, Tolkien, the Thieves World series, Clayton Emerit's Outcats series, Abraham Merrit (The Ship of Ishtar, plus some others), just to give some examples. Also, i read a lot of Asimov, and sci-fi books...

People who writh books just don't have the fantasy to do it good...
They always suck and humans and goodones always win without a scratch...

I hate books and ratter watch a movie for the real joy!

Movies contain blood and murder, books contain... well... they contain letters....

True Wesley, but when reading a book (especially a fantasy book) your imagination counts very much. Me, for example, i feel more like watching a movie rather than reading a book, since i see in my mind everything that happens...Try it, maybe you'll like it...

P.S And besides, i can't get angry at the director of the movie for not seeing things my way...

Well nowadays they always refilm books... why spoil the fun by reading it before watching it. that would spoil all the fun!

I want to see it all happen! I want to see the characters in realaction.. not in some letter action, and some crappy black/white pictures...

And I can't make fantasy out of letters at all...

Why not?

But, personally, i try to read the book first, so i can understand better what's going on in the movie. And besides, it's always interesting to se if the director understood the book like you did, or not.

Wesley, the avatar of the Nintendo generation

Look you goober.  Books are almost always far superior to the movies.

If you had a bit of imagination, you'd be able to create in your mind's eye a vaster, more epic feel from a book than a movie.

The only exception in my experience has been LoTR.  If I had been forced to sit through 15 minutes of Tolkien's myopic description of the journey to Tom Bombadil's, I would have run from the theater screaming.

I'd challenge you to name an instance where the movie was better than the book(other than this one), but since you don't read I won't bother.

As for other fantasy authors, Heinlein has written some good ones.  So has Terry Brooks and so has Robert Aspirin.

lol.. yes.. Tom Bombadil gives everybpody the sudden urge to chew through thir own leg.. also all the ancestory... hello?  Who cares?

Harry Potter 1 is a prime example.. the movie was nowhere near as good as the book, with the exception of the Quidditch match.  I took a kid to see it and she was bitterly dissapointed.. she said I read it to her better

Well books are for nerdo's

I won't bother to even try one...

I read all ghostbump parts and pretty proud that I survived that crap...

I needed some books for my book school thingies...

Most of all I used movies and just talked about the movie

But the teachers mostly knew I was talking snow because I added much fantasy myself...

Hmm... you are right Gootch, Wesley is definitely an avatar of the nintendo generation

I like Terry Brooks a lot, as well as Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. Another good author is Mercedes Lackey, who wrote the Gryphon series, as well as Tamora Pierce who wrote the Song of the Lioness Quarter and the Immortals series.

OOh yes! and for a humorous approach to fairy tale and an excellent fresh concept of magic, read some of Searching for Dragons books.

Wesley the uneducated, he doesnt read because he isnt capable lol. He cant even fry his brain watching too many movies either, he has to have a brain to start with.

Fantasy authors I like in order of fave...

Robin Hobb (often dark edged and depressing, but amazing witer who capture any feeling)
Katharine Kerr (similar to Hobb, but a bit happier)
Robert Jordan (getting a bit long winded though lol)
George R.R. Martin (doesnt mind letting the bad guys win)

There are so many others, I'd be here all night, but love the above 4.

I've read and enjoyed: Tolkien (of course), Robert Jordan, Robin Hobb, who else...

I've read and disliked (or not enjoyed enough to keep reading): Terry Brooks, Katherine Kerr, Modestit, McTiernan, B. Andreas Bull-Hansen (norwegian crappy writer)

Wesley: I'm getting a little bit tired of your "I'm just 16, I have the right to act like a sheep-brained, abusive, pueril little snow (oops! you probably don't know what half those words mean, I'll try to stick to one-syllable words from now on)!" When I was 16, I was somewhat more mature and humble than you appear to be, as I would think the case with most people. Just look at Woock, he's younger than you, and not once have I seen him flame a thread or verbally abuse someone. And another high quality poster here is 13 years old, and people don't even have a clue cause his posts are so good.

Conclusively, being 16 is no excuse for acting like a sh*thead.

i have read

J.R.R. Tolkien(LOTR, Hobbit, Silmarion)
Terry Prachet(Coluor of Magic and the Discworld series)
J.K. Rowlings(Yes Harry Potter)
Jules Verne, but i don't think he is realy a fantsy author. More Sci-fi
Oscra Wilde(Some of his short stories have rather fantasy features)

As for Wesley, Please don't tell me that u'd rather sit and watch a movie then read a good book. This is degeneration at it's best. Goosebumps are peices of snow. Look Wesley read a book! I have read alot but not as much as i'd like to beacosue i'm always preocupied with many things. Wes if u have trouble understanding letters just tell us. As for being a nerdo, I'm sorry Wes people who read books are not nerdos. you my friend qualify as a nerd more then anyone else here. Why? You sit at the god damned computer all-day and spend your time on the internet rather then going out with friends or playing sports, so do all of us here with and IQ over 7(that aparantely is everyone but u it seems) and shut the hell up.

1st of all

Dongio ment you.... And you act this way because you want to become a moderator(wich you will never become) so stop acting like a 80 year old okay?

I'm 1 with my computer because (Damn I already said this about 100000 times, but some people are blind or foolish)

1:I'm having trouble with my lung disease and i'm not able to sport or doing whatever I loved doing before(Such As skating) because if I am sporting then there is a serious chance that my lung calapses again and then I have to go to the hospital again for another month..
2:I hate holland and it sucks, if you lived in natureless land like this you would be like me aswel...

Ow and Lith and Many others are MUCH online aswel.. I think you ment them aswel, now you never become a mod! I'm really sorry for you Duncy!

Become a mod well, we sure need a brainless mod who would give everybody a QP for being his friend.
Wesley

And ps RMS isn't 13 he is 15/16 if i'm not wrong.

First of all i don't want to be a mod! How many times do i have to say this! Acting like an 80 year old? WTF are you talking about. Wesley talk to me when you get a brain transplant.

Ok sorry for your lung disease, but it's still no excuse for sitting at the computer all day! Then go out for a walk relax or study. Having a lung disease is no excuse for sitting at the computer all day.

Weseley you are online the most out of anyone. Just in the few months you have been alowed back u have gotten to a supreme status which means more then 800 post. This leads to u being online alot.

And me and brainless????????? My god Weseley that is the only insult u can use. I could make you cry, just by using words, but i won't. Well explaun me this if i'm brainless then why do i read books that are used in universities for recomended reading as pleasure? If i'm brainless then why do i know much more geography then many adults i know? Why do i know so much about politcal theories? If i asked you to explain the priciples of Marxism you wouldn't know what i'm talking about. Wesley shut your ignorant mouth up!

I'm not talking about RMS.

Wesley, your pitiful attempt of a mocking reply is so helpless I don't even feel the need to defend myself.

If you have a lung disease, try reading a book, then maybe you can make yourself understood in english...

And you act like becoming a mod is like a great honor or something... "Sir Dunco, you'll never become a mod!" oh no, I'm sure his heart is breaking...

And when you say I'm not smart "now eather", I rest my case.
