Speaking of poor ref's. The absolute worst ref so far: Croatia - Italy 2-1.

TWO PERFECTLY GOOD GOALS ANNULLED BY THAT ASSsnowING BALL AND HIS LITTLE QUEER snowEATING DANISH LINESMAN!!!!!!!

If these two get to judge any more matches in the WC, I'm gonna shove a firecracker up FIFA's ass.

This is outrageous. In addition, Doni should have had a penalty in the first half (he looked like he was in the Volvo Ocean Race, god damn it!), but because he doens't dive, the ref doesn't whistle. And they wonder why people film?

And another thing, Nesta's substitute, Materazzi, was partially responsible for both the Croatian goals. On the first, he just stops and looks at the Croat score, and on the second, he loses the ball to Croatia, and then his boot is the one that gives the ball that curve.

And how unlucky was that Totti freekick?!?!?! Man, the keep didn't know what was going on!

And the bald judge's name is Pierluigi Collina, generally acknowledged as the world's best ref, hence he got the expected hardest game, and he did good. I don't believe that elbow was intentional. And Argentina really had problems creating anything dangerous.

Yeah DonGio & Mate! Im absolutely agreed with you both! Italy vs Croatia. The referee is SOO unbalanced. it should be 4-2 or at least 3-2 !!!! I cannot sleep since the Argentina defeat, and now plus the Italy defeat. Arrghhhh !!

And about the referee from Argentina vs England :
So what i want to say is, that damned best bald referee is a good pal of England coach, Sven Goran Eriksson. I wont remember his name. Not! I wouldnt waste some space in my brain for remembering his bald name. Even Eriksson himself saying (after the match) "i am glad that the referee is him". or something like that.

-----------------------------------

This far, the best match is "Sweden vs Nigeria". The match is pretty clean and both sides shows respect each other. And oh my god! THE MATCH IS VERY ENTERTAINING!

South Africa 1 - 0 Slovenia
Brazil 4 - 0 China

Sandro, he said that becouse Collina is the best one in the world now. And his job was pretty good for me. Don't look for conspiracy with him...

As for Italy-Croatia...referee wasn't good, atleast that linesman but saying that Italy was superior isn't correct.
We were pretty good in this game as well...

What I thought when I saw the keeper watching the ball crossing the goal...
Was that keeper looked like that he in that moment understand the whole meaning of his life and his own vulnerability when he gently touched the ball...

I think Italy had some problems with attitude now and then. They could try to control the play much better by playing more aggressive attacking game like they did in final minutes. They just seemed to sleep those minutes that were needed for Croatia to make the goals.

All points go to Croatia which played much better than in first game. Bonus goes to referees...

Jimmymack: OK: You think a 1-1 draw against Corea puts you in a position to say that? Hmmm...

And ShaMen: Yeah, I totally agree with you. Italy has a nasty habit of trying to "play it safe" when they in my opinion should keep attacking (at least) moderately, with Nesta, Cannavaro, Maldini and Panucci in the back four, they can afford to play more aggressively than they have been doing.

So of course they should have swept the Croatians away long before they could ever get themselves into the mess they eventually got themselves into, but it's still this WC's biggest scandal so far. But they will beat Mexico (at least if they give it all they got for 90 minutes, then the Mexicans won't stand a chance). But I hope Mexico takes the second place in the group.

And a new "most entertaining game" has occured: Sen - Uru 3-3!! This was a breathtaking game (even though I watched it after I knew the score!)!! It's nice to see african teams go through to the second round, but still, it's a big loss losing Recoba. He has impressed the hell out of me these three games (especially the first and third).

And Denmark - France 2-0!!!!!!!!!!
Granted, France deserved at least one goal, but they were still not anywhere near the four they needed (should have been three, Tomasson tears Desailly's shirt off his back on the second goal)

Too bad Cameroon couldn't keep their cool when they had the chance and send the least amiable team of the world out of the WC. And a bit overzealous ref, I believe! At least Ireland are through, although they probably will face Spain, a very tough opponent, but not impossible.

Think football, eat football, drink football, sleep football, live football

You know,

There is some kind of new tradition in this World Cup 2002.
It is called "Paranoid Tactic", a coward style.
Afraid being bombarded by a tons of super stars.
They are pulling back almost all of their player inside the penalty square. And put one or two in the front. Im sick of this. Really...

Now this is similar to indonesian unprofessional style of play. Really, i am honest. No matter what their position. Why don't they tell all players to make a wall by standing in front of the goal instead ??!? HUH ??! Im sure the champion of this World Cup cannot defeat this stupid tactic. England use this, Sweden use this, etc...

Brazil, Spain, Germany wins to the second round, because their opponent did not use this tactic.

This is the true World Cup.
This is game where almost everyone has chance.
Expect Chine maybe? Sorry Thunderknight

I see it was Argentinas and France fate to fall.
Argentina was little bit riding too high with the good qualifying games but forget that there is the group stage first.
France just didn't have the edge what they needed.

What I see is that England lacks also edge.
Possible example Mcmanaman would have bring something "bizarre" to the tactics of England that are so too well known by all.

Sandro...
Whatever tactic that is winning is good tactic.
Argentina seemed to have bad tactic or no heart.
Don't understand me wrongly...
Argentina was one of my favorites but the games aren't won and wonders aren't done in paper but in the field.

England and Sweden were so much worse in paper than Argentina but so much greater in the field. And that is seen and proven now...

And now Italy desperately goes to the second round. Mexican players are good (also with their Mexican Wave) .

Look at the the last 4 minutes between Italy vs Mexico. I smell a conspiracy here.

Well' SubZero... i know i am very frustated and stressed about the Argentina defeat. I just can't believe it. Until now, i feel like they are still there in World Cup. It is not about tactics that they need, most importantly is "LUCK". Just like HOMM, our troops needs LUCK & MORALE. .

Go Go Go Denmark! Tomasson!! Kick England a*s to the ground!

Yeah, well, but this time, at least, the annullment is debatable, which was not the case with the two goals against Croatia.

On the first goal, Vieri was offside, and although the ball wasn't passed to him, it could be argued he was participating.

The second one is a close one, but it's not that easy being a linesman either. But aren't they supposed to give the advantage to the attacking team?? So that if they're in doubt, they keep their flag down? Better with goals that should have been blown off for offside than goals incorrectly annulled, if you ask me.

And what took them so damn long? I mean, how long was Del Piero on the pitch before scoring. 3 min.? If he's back on the sideline in the next game, Trappatoni should lose his job.

Also sad to see the entertaining teams Cameroon, South Africa and Costa Rica being eliminated, and unamiable teams like Germany, Paraguay and Turkey moving on.

Only about 30 min away...

The Korea-Portugal game is really close... Can't wait for it. Hope next time I post, it will mean we made it into next phase.

To previous person to post:
Belgium was lucky, won't happen next time with Brazil. Brazil can be a very powerful team... Besides, Portugal and Brazil are mutual supporters, so we'll be backing up for Brazil, he he he.
