Can anyone tell me why these spammers and smurfs multiply faster than rabbits? I'm utterly, really and seriously irritated by the next "huh? *nt*, ":=D", "wot"? *nt*", etc. posts.
I wish the community was a station for water: clean away with a filter the filth and the mud and let the nice, clean flow reach our homes.

I'm afraid that next time I see 2-3 posts of the quoted sort in a row, this peaceful star of patience with erupt in a supernova.

SMURF stands for Secret Military Underground Resistance Force. They're a Canadian terrrorist group that my president will be dealing with once Saddam is ousted and Bin Laden is taken care of.

Sounds like the Mods have some house-work to do on the recent threads.
Why they pop up now. School has finished and they have time on their hands to spend on the net. They will probably go away when autumn comes.

A smurf is a term
from the online word. If you took a look at that quiz I have posted, you would be waiting for an explaination.
There are 3 major enemies on the boards. People that spam, harass and disturb you.
1.Spammer. It's a very common-used word. Used for people who post nonsense on the boards, just hit the "post" button for the mere joy of it. Multiplying posts is another way of spamming. These people are annoying to other posters but *can* be ignored.
2.Troll. Another abused word. Many mistake trolls with spammers. It's NOT one and the same. SOme spammers are also trolls and most trolls are spammers too. A troll is a very irritating person who he also harasses. If you get nasty repeating messages from a guy, you have to deal with a troll. Worst thing with trolls is that they "regenerate". After being banned, they find another way round and stalk you again. Nasty people. They are the sort of people mods hate
3.Smurf. As Djive pointed out, they are little blue creatures from a cartoon but in net world it's a nickname for nasty guy with multiple accounts. Now, I have many accounts but it doesn't mean I'm a smurf. A smurf is sometimes a mutated troll who creates multiple accounts to try to deceive a mod. Or to to confuse and harass person. The difference between a troll and a smurf is that the troll is uses one account while the "glory" of a smurf comes from the multiple accounts. Both types are dangerous, annoying, persistant stalkers. Mods' favourites.
I can give you examples of people from all types. But I guess you have the main idea.

Newsflash for you; back in the '70s the SMURFs through a front company, bought controlling interest in Hanna-Barbera.
Their devious plan was to brainwash young children to make them THINK that SMURFs were harmless and cuddly, hence the Smurfs cartoon.
This nefariousness doesn't end there, oh no. In the early 80s the SMURFs met with another secret society known as the SNORKS(which stands for Secret Nuclear Occult of Religiously Krazy Sikhs).
In exchange for putting a positive spin on SNORKS, the SMURFS would become nuclear capable.
Thus, the Snorks started appearing on Saturday mornings as well.
Well, the SMURFs have had problems with their nuclear program, so they started engaging in other, more subtle terrorist activites.
One I can tell you is their sinister plot to pass LaBatt's off as a drinkable beer. In my opinion, that crime alone deserves the death penalty.
This is a warning to all of you.... If anybody identifies themself as a SMURF or one of the SNORKS to you, run.

Does anyone remember that one episode of The Smurfs when they were turning purple after being bitten by the Ga-Nat fly? Once they turned purple they would then hop around like frogs yelping, "Ga-Nat! Ga-Nat!", and then bite other smurfs; thus turning them purple as well. I can't remember but didn't Gargamel get bitten too? LoL, it was so long ago. 
I remember the Snorks too. Man they really were nothing compared to the Smurfs. I loved watching Gargamel always try to find the hidden mushroom village. And what was with Smurfette being the only girl? Wasn't she created by Gargamel? I think she was.

I wonder how many people here actually know that the Smurfs were based on a French comic book series?
One of the books also explains why there is only one Smurfette.
