I think we could take the pairing that RedSox did in the first page and start to contact each other.
Red, you create the thread, so you should come here and say:
"It will be ** minutes for each person in a best of **."
I suggest 5 or 10 min for each, so people propably wonīt lose their games because of lags or things like this, and then the players contact each other to play, and you give a time limit(like a week), so they have to say the result in a week at most, and if it is possible, a third person could watch the game to confirm the result.

Let the games begin!
RMS and I played a practise game on the ZONE needless to say we both suck heh heh.
Anyway this thing is never going to start unless someone does something so let me.
RULES:
(1) 4 groups of 4, each player plays against each player once in a 10 minute total game, best of 3, played in one sitting.
where the game is played is up to the players, I for one prefer the ZONE.
*Change* 1 for victory, 0.5 for stalemate and 0 for loss
The 2 players with the most points move on to the next round.
If there are 3 or 4 players with the same score then there will be a knockout game till there are 2 left.
(2) Winner posts the win and who it was against, subsequent wins to be posted in the same post via the EDIT POST.
(3) Once there are 8 remaining it's knockout best of 3 games till there are 4 and so on till there is a winner.
Anyone who is not playing please post so we can add a reserve thanks.

Game (2) 1 vs 3, 2 vs 4
Game (3) 1 vs 4, 3 vs 2

Everything's fine but I would only stick with original point gives: 1 for victory, 0.5 for stale and 0 for loss...
motorschaaf vs Hexa? Things might cool down between them...
EDIT: Elric, I saw some of your posts written beetwen 2 and 3 am CET. I'll try to be awake tonight at that time, hopefully you'll be awake too...
EDIT, Episode II: Post when you're usually online...just to know how much cofee should I drink...

I am getting afraid, i am in motorīs group too.
BTW, i prefer the "classical mode" for pontuation: 1, 0,5 and 0. And instead of 3 games letīs have only 2, one with white, other with black.
So, I am ready, Hexa, Avallach and Motorschaff you can contact me. I prefer playing in Zone, but no problem at another places.

i dont think group matchups gonna work - knockout trees are a lot better. group matchups will be more inactive than knockout trees i organized a lot tourneys (chess + homm) and allyways made that experience.
also a strict deadline is a MUST
and 10 mins per game is a lot too much in my opinion - 5 minutes max. i vote for and best of 3,4 or 5.

hehe thx for the flowers , but my lucky streak in chess passed away i guess i lost my last 6 league games this year

you might need a 64 Player or 32 player Game......64 goes to 32.....32 goes to 16.....16 goes to 8......8 goes to 4......4 goes to two.....two goes to the winner

There's too few of us to play knockouts, imo. 16 players(18 if we count Kynes and Lews), thats only four rounds for the finalists. Let's try this and see what happens, hopefully there'll be another tourny later...
As for lenghts of games, I would leave it to players (but must be finished in a reasonible time)...

The rules are as they stand except for the points change (see original post).
After this tournament someone else can organise it, this is a trial run using this format and can be fine tuned next time round, or we will just fill this thread with I want it like this and I want it like that.
The reason for 3 games is there is more likey to be a winner than for 2 games.
So find your opponent and get to it!

Ok I guess we have our players now. Sorry about not posting. I've been at a football camp since Saturday. I left Friday evening after my baseball game...
Enough chit-chat. I'll start the tournament now in a new thread. If anyone has more ideas for a second tournament, then give any other ideas here. Otherwise just report your wins and losses in the other thread.
If you think that my version sucks then we'll go with Sir_Elric's version instead. Although I think that it would be easier to organize the games as far as time zones go if all rounds were 1 on 1 instead of World Cup Style.
