Best Multi Class

well well

i have played h4 quite a bit now...some things still bother me, but it was the same with h3...h2 was (and is) still the best in my opinion...

anyways i had to start a post(not sure if this has been done yet) about best multi class...

my top 3 (in this order):

1. Ninja:
there's nothing cooler than having a GM stealth hero who can run around and steal stuff and then shoot with poison. just excellent!

2. Summoner:
when you're pulling elves into your army every day. or elementals. or whatever. this hero is like a walking city. great!

3. Enchanter:
at a certain level this hero can destroy things on his own. especially with martyr as well. you summon some crazy shooter, then a good melee fighter, then cast martyr to protect your melee unit and then keep raising shooters. great!

on another side note, my fav spell is martyr. it's not the most powerful i know, but can often guarantee that you dont lose any of your own troops.

well if this topic has been started elsewhere than i guess i'm beating a dead horse. if it's been a while since it was started then i guess we can refresh the conversation.

later all

Super hero

A simple way to create a super hero is to develop a barbarin, in the long run he can turn into a killing machine capable of killing alone even dragons !

This is much more effective hero than that barbarian killing machine, `couse with ninja it is very easy to gain xp and artifacts.

ninja is a fine thing, tho u need combat skills or sum great artifacts to make it useful!then u have to see that ur combat skils don't beat ur deathmagic or scout skills!waste of lvls!
a barbarian as dark priest or assassin is untouchable and a perfect lone hero!
altho becoming dark priest and still have good melee is quite hard, altho it will pay back in the long run.artifacts are also welcome!

ninja is a huge waste of levels.
a good ninja has GM combat&melee&archery, magic resistance optional. Thats at least 15 levels. but to keep him ninja at this combat proficiency, he must also have at least another 15 levels in death magic, and another 15 in scouting. 45 levels!

and now, every combat turn, he is wasting 30 levels at least. if he shoots, he is not using the death magic skills, nor scouting skills. if he casts spell, scouting and combat go unused (=waste).

archmage is possibly even more wasteful (when casting chaos he is wasting order).

and effective hero is e.g. with GM tactics everything + GM nature magic everything but summoning + army (hopefully a fast army). thats 35 levels. every turn he is using all of his skills. all tactics skills are used automatically, and in addition he can cast a nature spell (making his army even better) during his turn. he could also have combat, without melee or archery, to survive being shot at, and in multiplayer also magic resistance. everything beyound that is a waste. surely scouting is a good thing to have -- GM pathfinding! but its better to have it on a separate hero, who is simply there for the movement speed.

I Agree with Dingo

I love getting the Demonologist for exactly the reason he stated.

Plus, you've got GM necromancy, so you're getting Vampires after the battle.

Also, as I've mentioned before, the Ice Demon summoning "feature" is great when you can have your demonologist have the devils exponentially summon ice demons, it's far too cool. (Pardon the pun)

And I also like having a fully developed general out on the field for the "heavy lifting".

Ah, the complexities of trying to get just the right mix of skills.

I notice that most good hero combinations have tactics, which mostly affects the entire army. (Warden, Field marshal, Lord commander) or combat, which strengthens themselves. (Assassin, Ranger, Warlord) , or a mix of two magic classes, strengthening certain spells. (Enchantress, Summoner, Demonologist) Sucky classes include Heretic, Wizard & Reaver.

How I normally evolve my heroes:

Knight - General (Combat/Tactics)
Priest - Monk (Life/Order)
Lord - Warlord (Combat/Nobililty)
Mage - Varies greatly
Death Knight - Don't use them much
Necromancer - Lich
Thief - Ranger (Combat/Scouting)
Sorceror - Varies greatly
Archer - Ranger
Druid - Warden or Summoner
Barbarian - Ranger or Warlord

However, I think the Warden is the best multi-class (+10% defense throughout) although Field Marshal is very good (+ 10% attack throughout) and I like Summoner and Cardinal a lot, too. Archmage is nice, but it takes a long time to make.

Obviously it depends on your starting town which hero class you actually build, but the best class specials are the crusader's and assasin's imo. maybe demonologist on ridiculously rich maps.

Reason is simple: having control in the endfight (being able to cast first resp. last spell) is crucial.

Talking about online games of course; in single player it doesn't make a difference what kind of hero kills the A"I"
