Funny, I used to be very selective when it came to beer. But I discovered something which changed my opinion on it: after 6 or 7 beers, all beer tastes the same; after 8 or 9 beers vodka tastes like beer too; after 9 beers and a couple of glasses of vodka, anything tastes like beer, but i'm probably under the table knocked out so i'm not really there to enjoy it

BioEngineered Beer?

(copy/pasted)
Cold, frothy glass of bioengineered beer?
COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) -- Spurned across the continent by food-fastidious Europeans, the biotechnology industry has turned in its quest for converts to the ultimate ice breaker: genetically modified beer.

Brew master Kenth Persson at his brewery in Sweden with his new light beer Kenth which includes genetically modified corn.

Uh...is this good news or bad news? Should I be happy or afraid? Hmm...

I don't drink much beer, but I like West End Draught and Coopers beer (both local beers from here in Adelaide, South Australia). I don't drink much imported beer, its too expensive and I can't afford alcohol cause I never have much money. I prefer to drink spirits, usually rum or whiskey.

Not directly beer related, but seems appropriate enough to post it here.  A friend of mine broke out a bottle of 25 year old Macallan last night.  I'm paying for it now, but christ almighty that is good stuff.  It just vaporizes in your mouth and the flavors seem to go straight into the brain.

I regret nothing.

Never tasted it, but it sounds like a good idea. I like Gensing drinks. I like beer. Why not mix the two?

You know what is interesting? Well, for the longest time we americans could only drink Guiness Stout and others of its kind in bottles. Within the past 6 or 7 years, a new invention has made it possible to drink it out of a can. As I am told, the Guiness Stout can has a small device or miniature cannister in the bottom of the can that breaks or opens when you crack the tab. It then carbonizes the ale to give it that carbonated fizzly bite. When I heard this I was very surprised. To this day I am still a bit confused as to the science behind it but I would really like to know how they do that. Anyway because of this we can now drink Guiness Stout out of a can! Pretty amazing eh?

I love beer. I had to find out how that widget worked. So I cut open the can. I discovered a white sphere. It did not seem like much. Later, I saw on a science programm in Canada that it was all a question of Nitrogen. You see, in draught beer, beer in the lines are mixed with nitrogen in a seperate line. Then just before the pour, they mix 'em up. In the can, this widget contains high pressure nitrogen. When the can is opened, the gas wants to escape because of the pressure inside the widget. So the nitrogen goes through the beer as it would on a tap. It creates the smooth texture we have learned to cherrish.

I love beer so much I have started a collection of beer mugs. Here are my favorite beers, not in any order:
Kilkenny (my favorite beer), Guinness, Smithwick's, Keiths, Leffe, Heineken, Upper Canada Honey Brown, any types of Sleeman's (one of Canada's best beers: they have Steam lager, Honey Brown, porter-type, silver creek, cream Ale and many more), Moosehead, Boddington's, Harp, McAusland's appricot beer, Blanche de Chambly, La fin du Monde, La maudite, U, L'Éphémère. Québec nowadays, actually makes really good beer. Some of you should try it.

I also just tasted a beer from Germany, it was a Dopel Bock and the name was "Assam bock" very good beer, dark and creamy. They sell loads of it in Canada. (probably overstocked)

Now, to honor Asmodean, I must add Caffrey's. It's quite good indeed. I did find it good and it went down easy.

Cheers!!!
