HOMM4 wish - Speed Game.

I have all the HOMM games and have played online for 2 years or so with 1 season in TOH.

It was and still is probably my all time favourite game and multiplayer is the only way to play it as I find single player relatively boring.

The main reason I stopped playing at TOH or even playing friendly multiplayer games is for this main reason.

It takes too damn long to play a game!

Personally I can't sit at a computer for 4,6,8 or even more hours just to play a game, and sometimes if you get someone who doesn't post your win it was all for nada!
It would be nice to still be able to play in comps like TOH and not have to stay up till 5AM three nights a week!

So my wish for HOMM4 and even to maybe patch HOMM3 is as follows:

The Speed Game.

In the game settings there is an option for Quick combat.

If there was the option for Quick Combat Speed Game in the actual pre game setup, similar to the Player Turn Duration, with the difference being that Only Troops Without A Hero would apply to the Quick Combat with the option to retreat should you attack the wrong group, this would speed up game time dramatically.

There would obviously have to be some exceptions like Dragon Utopias, where an option would pop up asking if you would rather fight using Normal Combat. or Quick Combat.

eg.
Set the Quick Combat Speed Game to 2 minutes.
This means the turns are 2 minutes with Quick Combat against all non hero army's.

Obviously you can do this now by changing the game settings whilst playing, but this way there in no way to change it back during a game or forget to change it back when you do attack another hero.

We all know that the AI plays the Quick Combat battle differently and usually would lose more troops and use more spell points than a human player would, but this rule goes both ways for you and your opponent so is something you have to factor into the game.

Remember this is only another option in the pre game setup not a be all end all rule.
This way you could play other people who may not want to fight every little battle and don't want to play for 6 hours either.

You would still retain all the battles which really mean something like the castle sieges and hero battles and best of all not have to sit at your computer while the sunrises in your window to bleary eyes.

To speed up the game they should add a new speed levels for adventure and combat movement: teleport. So when you click on a target on the adventure map twice, your army teleports to it (or where it reaches). In combat when you attack, the attacker teleports next to the target and those skull/blood numbers appears (without any attack animation). Same with the spells.

uhhh no...

this wouldnt work for adventure map because if your enemy had knowledge of your territory it would be harder for him to see where your hero went if he just suddenly "dissapeared"... he might not know which way he went.

I agree... But still it's an interesting idea. If it's optional.

It might also be possible to solve the problem by say "making tracks" on the map where enemy heroes passed last turn. (If you would normally have seen them. Or if you have good enough scouting skill.)

Anyway, many games offer different modes of play, and as such an idea I'd say this one holds some merit.
