That makes me wonder. I know sometimes, MerryGoRound has a breakdown where it loses control spins really fast and the music is really fast. Did make it so that your mechanics wouldn't go to fix the ride? lol

I'll have to try this or look it up on youtube.

I don't recall doing it deliberately, but yeah, maybe I didn't have a mechanic in the park.

Oh, if roller coaster tycoon 1 could be remade with rollercoaster 3 graphics it would be fun!!
Cuz number 1 is the best in gameplay and levels
And number 3 is the best in graphics and ideas

It's really the little things about Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 that make it so good. The guests are surprisingly entertaining to watch. Just the concept of having happiness, hunger, and nausea levels is fun to watch. And then seeing them throw up is also a great plus.

I usually hire about 15 handymen every scenario and that's more than enough to keep things clean.

I also never bother to hire security guards. If you keep your park clean and rides reasonably cheap, then people will be happy and won't vandalize anything.

They should really make security guards more useful, like adding shoplifting or injury to the game so that guards actually have a job and stop being a leech to your funds. And give them cooler outfits.

After making several unsuccessful Go Kart Rides, and several successful Go Kart Rides, I've found that the common theme is quite simple. Drivers need to be interacting or driving by other cars constantly in order for it to be a fun ride.

So unless you have a massively long Go Karts Ride that goes through loop-the-loops and near or through other exciting rides, then a minimalist approach is your best bet.

Here are several examples that have a shorter ride time and are more exciting than "Mega Track," one of the track designs that comes with the game.



12 Cars, 5.59 Excitement, 1:13 Ride Time, 492 customers/hr




11 Cars, 5.77 Excitement, 1:39 Ride Time, 336 customers/hr




7 Cars, 5.99 Excitement, 0:59 Ride Time, 252 customers/hr

Yeah, whenever I'm playing serious I usually go with simple. However, if I want to punish my riders then I have made some insanely long go kart tracks, yet the excitement rating was still pretty good. I made it the most laps that you could make it, and I was sitting at my computer for an hour or so and they were only getting to the last laps. lol

Rollercoaster Tycoon Contest:

The idea is to have a ride design making contest for several different rides, including rollercoasters, log flume, water slide, river rapids, and other custom rides.

All submissions will be restricted to flat terrain, no underground, no interactions with scenery or other rides, and time restrictions. (5 min log flume, 2 min wooden rollercoaster, etc.)

Entries would be judged on highest excitement, with penalties for high intensity, high nausea, and going over the time restriction. If there is enough interest, I'll either create a new thread or just do it in this thread.
