Would it be possible if when you quote someone, that it will show who you quoted from?

This could prove useful in big threads in Otherside of the Monitor or some of the Tavern threads or even Bards Glade Pyre. It can help if somebody decides to quote someone from a page or two back and people may get confused and start looking for who made the post.

I agree. That can be very useful.
When I see a quote, I often have to look through the thread to search for the member who said the quoted text.

This should be combined with some way for you to link to a certain post on a page - then, we can using hyperlinks direct people to a specific post for reference rather than saying "it's on that page somewhere". Then for the quotes, it says who posted it originally and provides a link to that original post.

What if Elvin was female?

I want to suggest something about editing old posts. Right now no one except the mods can edit posts that are over a year old. I know why (I think), and I fully agree with that feature.

What I would like to suggest is to block the "edit old posts" option altogether, just like the post option for 4th post in a row. I'm asking this because this edit feature is rarely used and people (me for example) tend to forget about it, or just don't look at the date of the post. Yesterday I've spent an hour updating some old post of mine with new info only to get the message that I can't edit the post and all my work was lost. It would be much better if that message poped up before I began editing (i.e. when I clicked on the edit post button) to prevent unnecessary trouble.

Exactly!

It happened to me twice, that I edited post and only when I submitted it, it told me that it can't be edited, and what I edited didn't get saved, so also I couldn't send it to the mod so s/he can edit the post for me.

I don't think that feature should be disabled.

Yes, I don't think it should be as well. That would be really bad. What if I made some major mistakes with a post? I wouldn't be able to edit nor delete it. Would not work out well in the end.

I do think that this:

Quote:

Would be a much better alternative instead of blocking it altogether.

I think the suggestion was to block the edit option for posts older than a year, not to block the edit option in general.

Btw. Geny, I don't know if the post was in one of "my" fora, but in case, you're always welcome to contact me, and I can insert the corrected text.

Alc is right of course (of course). It was just bad wording on my part, but I thought you would be smart enough to understand I'm not that stupid.

And alc, it wasn't in your fora, but that doesn't matter. I have no problems contacting mods in any forum, I just forgot I needed to do that for old posts, and when I found out it was too late, because I didn't have a backup copy.

That's why I always (when it's a big post) select the entire text and press CTRL+C so I can paste it if something goes wrong (you can also have problems with the connection)

I do as well but sometimes I manage to hit the wrong key (before copying) and then get to watch in horror as Internet Explorer goes back 3 pages.  Not too fun when I'm updating an RPG.

I learned the copying the hard way too.

Had to type again a huge RPG post.
Not so much fun as you might think.

Usually I do that too, but I mostly do it when I write a new big post. This time I was adding a lot of info in different parts of the post and didn't think to copy the whole post.

Behold the solution my genius brain has come up with! What about typing the whole text in WORD and then just safely copy it there and but in your nice posting box? If you accidentaly delete it in word you call always hit the "rewind" button and taaaada there is your post again. Seriously writing the whole thing on the net is usually ok but when it's lost it's such a pain.......
