Improved log in

When I occasionally forget to log in before entering a specific thread, and log in by typing my username and password on the top of the page, I get forwarded to the main page, which is rather annoying. Could you change this so I get back to the thread I logged in from?

Another thing: The system with returning to the last page of a thread after making a reply is great, but when the reply starts a new page, you return to the next last page. Is this intended, or is it a bug?

Still bugged and does not work. Some members have reported that second edit and thereafter are free (for non-three star members). Which is also a bug.

This is the case for me. I still have flood protect while editing and it drives me nuts!
Plus I remember that I had no floodprotect after a first edit of a post like you said.

As it stands now, we don't have any advantage for the hard-earned third red star

strange bug

i've noticed something funny this morning and i can't think of any logical explanation for it.

check it out:

look at the date written on the library section

@edit:Also sometimes there is an incredible amount of guests logged on this site. For instance now(24.04.2005 07.43 GMT) there are 113 guests online of which no less than 87 are reading our own "Attack Iraq" thread.

Hey Conan,

I just read this in the FAQ/Rules...

"Gaining red stars has its own benefits. Having four red stars will set you free of floodprotect. Having five red stars will enable you to rate threads."

Where did you hear about 3 red stars giving you editing floodprotect?

It is mentioned in this thread. As far as I know the bug related to it has not been fixed.

Tigris:

When a mod moves or deletes a thread in a forum, sometimes the last post date on the main page goes a little wacky for that forum.  I noticed it as a mod but never got around to testing the specifics.  Speculation: it happens when the moved/deleted thread contains the most recent post in the forum.  There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the date which appears -- the one for the Other Side tended to be December 23, 2002, if I recall correctly.  The bug disappears as soon as someone makes a new post in the affected forum.

As to the influx of guests:  Guests sometimes leave "trails" in Who's Online.  So, one person was browsing through Attack Iraq, and Who's Online listed them as a new person every time they moved to a new page.  This is a known bug, a result of Val's fixing some other, more serious issue.  (As a side note, a lot of guests are also things like search engines' webcrawler bots.)

Statistical breakdown of Posts to Forum ratio

I don't know if this option was ever explored, but I think it would be a cool addition to the "Stats" for each member.

Could it be possible to show how each member's Posts breakdown into each Forum, by %. For example:

Leo_Lion Stats

Posts in each Forum

Tournament of Honor: 20 Posts = 3%

Wake of Gods: 0 Posts = 0%

Tavern of the Rising Sun: 300 Posts = 45%

Lands of Axeoth (HOMM4): 0 Posts = 0%

Library of Enlightenment: 100 Posts = 15%

MapHaven Guild: 2 Posts = 0.3%

Heroes 5 Altar of Wishes: 1 Post = 0.15%

Other Games Exist Too: 50 Posts = 7%

Bards Glade Pyre (RPG): 2 Posts = 0.3%

Other Side of the Monitor: 150 Posts = 22.5%

Volcanic Wastelands: ??? Posts = ???%

Turban Tribunal: 20 Posts = 3%

request! more smilie codes

VaRuAs brought up the topic of smilies in the Wastelands.  The thread is doing the usual Wastelands thing.  So, I've moved over a list of HC posting icons which do not yet have codes.  Personally, I like "yuck" and "huh" and would appreciate an easier way to use them in posts.  The IMG BB code is awkward -- if you don't believe me, just try quoting this post.

Here's the list:

:letter:
:woohoo:
:nix:
:spiffy:

:yikes:

:littlegreenthing:

As a side note, there is some confusion as to what that "little green thing" is.  Can the Great Turban identify the mystery smilie?

Total Agreement

I could not agree more to have access to more smilies on this forum. That's always been a great flaw with Heroes Community in my opinion.

I've always thought of the green thing as a "post-it pin" of some kind. For example, when I find something such as an article(newspaper/magazine/book/internet document) that I love so much I want to copy/past it verbatum then I'll use that little green thing to show that I'm basically doing a copy/past job with my post. It's kinda like cutting the article out of the newspaper and then using a magnet to hang it on your fridge.

As for the tiny sheet of paper, I use that to signify that my post has a lot to read. I see it as kind of a warning to posters who don't want to read long-written posts. I'm hoping when they see the little paper icon above the start of my post that they'll see the indication to not waste time reading and immediately scroll past my material.

And again I think we need waaaaay more smilies available to help posters better describe the emotions they are feeling when typing up their posts.

smileys suck

There is no need whatsoever for more smileys as it only makes the posts unreadable when there are 99 different smiley crap all over them.

If you really want a smiley in today you can link to it through the img part of the BB code. that should be it.

One of the thing about HC that is most appealing is that has its own style. An old fashioned style, by bringing in stupid smileys it will only look stupid.

Too much smileys as it is today can totaly mess up a post as there become no big picture of it. Just sentence or a few sentences followed by a weirdo smiley can make any post uninteresting.

NO more extra smileys pls.

Khaelo, I always thought that we could use those smillies in our Posts?! I just figured that since I didn't know the :codes:, that I wouldn't use them...

But, you're saying that we need to use the [img] function in order to show those particular icons...now, THAT I did not know.

Oh, and I'm glad that you liked my idea Sir_Stiven...I think that it would be cool to be able to see that kind of statistical breakdown for each member.

The following smilies do have codes:
, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and .  They're listed in the FAQ.  (Because, as we all know, you could really use more BB code in your posts, Leo. ) My suggestion is to add similar shortcuts for the rest.

Addendum to above post:  :spiffy: should be , not which obviously already has an icon.
