BORT!  Well said buddy.  You and Laelth are very humbling to some of us.  I admire your ability to lend such a pragmatic eye to this situation.  Finally some (like you and Laelth) are focusing our attention on the more Machiavellian tendencies of the nation-states invlved here, on ALL sides.

As PH said recently, the truth is somewhere inbetween.  But like you, I suspect that the preservation of the industrialized world is a primary motivating factor behind what is happening here.

We out here (currently buried in snow out west) are all very concerned for you there in New York.  It's much easier for most of us to engage in academic debates, yay or nay, when our butts aren't sitting right in the line of fire.

And like you, right now I too hope to god I have been wrong about how this is all going to go.

Let's think about sending positive thoughts to our troops, and to the Iraqui citizenry.....let them all be safe and live another day.

AND A QUICK DEATH TO SADDAM AS WELL...

I guess that u are happy wolfman?! I see that ur barabric insticts of bloodsplling can now be answerd. I see that herr adolf bush hasn't started thinking for the first time in his life and actualy went on with this crazy agressive action.

i personaly would like to see what good this war will bring(except for getting rid of a crazy dictator) but then i guess u have to be granted with the great gift of bloodlust to see that.
We can see that herr bush is nothing more than a pupet controled by the militaristic forces in his so called "administration"

i'm disgusted to such a point i can't force myself to write ...

as I said wolf boy

A loss of oil from Iraq — home to the world's second-largest reserves — could crimp supplies for importing countries, and deny U.S. and British governments an asset they hope will help pay for postwar efforts. The u.s. and britain want iraq for the oil now they are scared because they might get none. i hope we dont get any go to yahoo news and read more on this and one more thing i like writing with caps lock on  SO IF YOU DONT LIKE IT ...

Alas, the world has changed

So much good stuff, I don't know where to start.

Sir_Dunco, when did you decide to stick your nose where it didn't belong?

Peacekeeper, hmmmm...yer about as eloquent as they come.  Keep it up, and your audience will grow.  As for the history of biological warfare, I think that bubonic plague infested corpses were catapulted over town walls during sieges in the middle ages.  That just may be the first account of biological warfare.

Wolfman, Rush Limbaugh is just about the worst sort of demogogue that the Republicans have to offer.  At least he had the decency to apologize to Hillary Clinton for some of his most insensitive and disparaging remarks about Chelsea.

Dargon, kinda difficult fighting a war on so many fronts, isn't it?

Bort, you are like wine.

Fire of Truth, where do I start with you?  You are a prime example of why the Navy, alongside the Air Force, is the laughingstock of the armed forces.  Your dissemination of information that you know absolutely nothing about is pathetic.  Where is your tact?  Where is your discretion?  You come onto an international site blabbing about your job?  Your lack of professionalism is simply appalling.

Ladies and gentlemen, a disclaimer about Ordnance bubbas is needed.  They are a bunch of rocks.  They get put into ordnance in the first place because they don't know how to even turn a wrench.  They are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to Naval aviation.

If there were mass bombings of civilians by planes from the Enterprise, then why didn't the world media learn about it?  Hmmm?  Do you really expect me to believe that there was collusion between our country and Europe to keep the rest of the world in the dark about these nefarious acts you are spouting about?

Newsflash to you punk...the European media, and maybe even ours would love to get wind of these so-called massacres.  The fact that nothing was ever mentioned just shows that YOU HAVE ZERO CREDIBILITY.

This topic has been picked apart.  Saddam will fall and my country will set its sights on the next big menace(insert joke here).

Ultimately, what I will remember most from this conflict is that we attacked first because of a potential threat, not an imminent one.  Right or wrong, the course of our future has changed because of the opening of this can of worms.

The Gooch --

If that was me you were talking about being eloquent, truly -- likewise, I'm sure.  That's quite a compliment coming from you, sir.

Gooch and Wolfman --

I withdraw my earlier request about "playing nice" with respect to FOT.  I am sure you have everyone's blessing in being as ruthless as you wish.  You sure have mine.  I'm just glad some of that got edited out before dArGOn go hold of it...

And Wolfman, thanks for being so kind-spirited about my joking-around-bossiness earlier.  In my opinion, it shows flexibility in your personality.  Like I've told PH; I tend to act like mama bear sometimes.  You may take such acts as gestures of affection because that is the spirit in which they are always intended.

Nidgrin --

Thanks for the redirection.

Gootch, I hope the fact that you're posting here is evidence that you have not been sent to Iraq.  I was hoping you hadn't been deployed when I was writing my earlier post.  If you have been or are in the future, I can only wish you the absolute best of luck and anxiously await the return of your humor to the community.

Sorry I misspelled your name before.  I'm terrible that way.  English is a second language for me.  I do not have a first language.

I forgot to ask you --

EEEWWWWW!!!!! They really did that in the middle ages?  That's really disgusting!!!!!

Also, what's an Ordnance Bubba????

Finally -- yeah, like wine.  That's what bort is like...

Laelth runs a close second.  In short order though, PH will pass-em all up....

Thanks for the kind words, Peacemaker.

I'm with The_Gootch in thinking that one of the greatest tragedies of this war will be the implementation of what's being called the "Bush Doctrine" of pre-emptive war.  This new national security strategy is a menace to a civilized world, and I hope it gets reversed by the next president.

WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

Saddam may be a Jihad warmonger, but I didn't think George W. Bush will be worse a crusader. While I like Saddam to be destroyed, a bloody war which will inevitably result in the deaths of thousands of civilians and troops that are doing their duties against the bloodthirsty American, British and Iraqi leaders is not the best way to do such things.

Personally, I am against this war, but I am not anti-american or anti-British because a large number of americans and brits oppose the war. I cannot believe how the UN got shifted out of this situation - if only Bush and Blair could listen to the UN first then everything will be different.

FIRE OF TRUTH, I hate your attitude on this community. If only I had moderator power I would remove your red stars already, but I cannot since I'm not one of them.
