So many great ideas! WOW! 3DO should have read everything so that they're aware of what to change!

Just a pity not more people from 3do are visiting HC...

Just some comments:
Trading Post:
I think it was The_Hydra who said that the trading post should be removed and that we can just press "M" to display the marketplace. This is OK, but trading post and market place is not the same thing. You get to trade stuff for much more money at a trading post than a regular marketplace. So.. don't think they must be removed, but maybe just improved... ?

Siege Combat:
Well, I don't think that we should travel back to the days of the catapult, but maybe 3do should have included more ways to destroy the castle gate in siege combat. It's of no use if you have to place your armies in the moat. They suffer badly from it. Too badly! Instead, maybe the ranged attackers should be able to shoot the gate as well, and maybe we should have seen more spells like Earthquake on H5?

siege combat

what if in siege combat creatures whould be able to climb walls and there whould be hexes on the edge of the wall where creature stacks could stand. the stack that stands on the edge of the wall suffers great penalty attacking onto the wall and can be attacked from the wall with great bonus.

i.e. something like.. the creature stack that climbs on the edge of the wall looses it's movement points for that turn. if it's way onto the castle wall is not blocked when it moves next turn, it just steps on the wall and fights like a normal stack on the wall. from the point of the view of the defender it would be primary objective to block the opponent troops. from the point of view of the attacker the primary objective would be getting a foothold on the wall.

imho this could add more tension to siege combat in an appropriate way. also, underdefended castles would be easier to take.

there could also be the possibility to destroy a part of the wall, so the edge of the wall would become a pile of stones, and the edge of the wall penalty would become insignificant on that spot. if the castle gate is broken, creatures could enter the castle without penalty through the gate, of course.
