The Gathering Storm

I am currently playing the Bob & Violet Campaign in The Gathering Storm expansion.   Has anyone beat the third part of that campaign.. I am having a hard time with it.  Not sure how to go about it.   Red and Purple overwelm me everytime I go to their island to try to beat them. No matter how strong I get.

Wow.. Thanks.  I did finish that campaign finally without the walkthru. Now I am having a horrible time with the Bard Campaign.   Currently I am playing that campaign but so is the site manager who wrote the first campaign walkthru.... so no walkthrough yet.    I do okay until I get to the 3rd or 4th map (one with nine oracles that you must tag.    The other teams seem to be far stronger than her with many black dragons. Plus the stacks on the map are horrendous LOL.     Anyone beat that map yet?   I made it to inside the red gate and had 7 out of oracles found when I was elimated.  Apparently there is a time limit on top of everything else ..  Good Grief.

God's Teeth, am I the only one playing Gathering Storm? Please,I really need some help guys.  Agraynel (the Bard campaign) can't seem to get to Aiffe's Mandolin, no matter what strategy I use.  Its getting very frustrating!  Agraynel has five months to vist 8 oracles and find the mandolin.   The oracles are all behind huge stacks.  The enemy is very strong and very aggressive.  They attack on sight and don't attack the stacks.  Grrrrrrr.   So its me against the world LOL.   Anyone playing this campaign besides me?

That campaign has been my favorite out of all of them!  (I'm on my 4th GS campaign.)

You say "the enemy...attacks on site".  Well, I don't think you're using your best advantage.  You've had Grandmaster Stealth since the first scenario.  USE IT!  I don't think it's likely that any of the enemy heroes have Grandmaster Scouting, so as long as you don't have any other creatures in your army, you'll be nigh indetectable by the enemy.  ("Duh... my creature generator just changed allegiance.  How did that happen?")

=)

Anyway what I'm saying is that you can easily run around the whole map by yourself.  What's more is that you hardly have to worry about the enemy taking your towns.  When I played it, they weren't all that interested in them anyway (I think they had only taken one) but I certainly didn't worry about it, because I didn't need them anyway (once I got the powerups and such).

When it comes to beating up on some creatures to get to an oracle, it shouldn't be too hard.  Just stick Agraynel in the 6th slot (back row, farthest away), and conjure up some Water Elementals and a few select other creatures.  The advantage to water elementals against most creatures is there there is no retaliation against magic, which means they'll last longer.  =)  I've found that the AI doesn't normally attack Agraynel if there are summoned creatures around.  (Maybe they do at different difficulty levels.)  Also, Dragon Strength & First Strike & Cat Reflexes work well against Black Dragons...

Anyway, in general you just need a different paradigm of thought to play this one.  The object isn't conquest, but stealth.  That makes it cool and unique.

I hope this helps.  Good luck!

Thanks.. Agraynel just got her mandolin!  I forgot if I had creatures with me that my stealth wouldn't be active.  LOL.  I usually play order or life towns, so this is new to me.  Great hints!

Bard's campaign

Well, what Adanesly said is true, but it is even possible to defeat all the other players on the map.

My bard hero has beaten everything on the map alone: except for the big Bone Dragon stack guarding the last oracle at Northwest and the undead player's army for which I used some army help.

Hint: summon lots of water elementals and use quicksand.

I even bet 48 angels with the hero alone summoning water elementals (slow), then feary dragons (confusion every turn) and that kept on summoning water elementals and casting Ice Bolts with them. Mana Flare also helps.

There are sooo many ways to defeat this horrible AI :-)

Anyways, if you get stuck in any other map, feel free to ask, even in e-mail. I almost finished all the maps (champion level), except for "Might makes right".

Yeah, use GM Stealth (& Pathfinding, by the way) to your advantage! You can conquer all the Nature towns and see most of the Oracles by yourself (flaging mines & picking resources too), and by the time time you HAVE to fight the last Oracle "defenders" you should have amassed quite an army in your towns. Also, I'd used Black Dragons in my army (from captured Chaos cities @ map Dragon Cave) rather than my own lvl.4 Nature units (which I summoned during the battles).

I have some problems with the second scenario of the Dark priest campaign.
It is very hard. All my experience with heroes 4 only helped me not to lose my main hero.I never got to gather a significant force and the red and orange players are all over the place with very large staks and several heroes of above level 15.I have restarted several time and quickness helped me finish the red player in the first 8 days .Still the orange player is out of control and I can not be in 3 places at a time with the main hero and anyway some staks are close to impossible to beat...
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Well... I think You can find a walkthrough

http://www.mmportals.com/h4/campaign11map2.html

Hmmm.. Yes as I can remember it was a very hard Campaign, you start with Nature town, and the forces of Life and Might are everywhere. Well... What can I say, Play thet campaign from the beggining, focus to make your hero  very strong, you'll need that in final campaign...

Hi Lich_King, thanks a lot for the advice.
I will try to search for a walkthrough.
I want to ask something you though: for three days I tried to choose best strategies and I somehow managed to get ahead of the guys in that scenario but still there is a lot of work to do and any mistake means failure.I was a bit tempted to use cheatcodes but I did not yet.
Do you agree with useing such things when patience finishes and result is still bad?
Did you ever used such things (maybe whe u begun playing)?
Thanks

Cheats ? No... It is not interesting, since your rank at campaign score table will be "cheater". Sorry, I allready gave a link to a walkthrough, but I confused the letters in tabs...

ok, understood, thanks a lot It is nice that more experienced players help the others in getting the fun that this game can provide.
I will check out the walkthrough for sure and give up cheat codes idea as they would spoil my rank.
Thank you for advising

Im on that "A Matter of Life and Death" campaign and im stuck on the last mission "The Rescue."  I've killed their strongest guys but there castle (that i have to take to win) is behind a gate that only they can enter.  I noticed there is yellow teleporter behind the castle but i can't find another yellow one.

winning life and death

i know, had the same problem for a few turns. in the end it turned out the other yellow teleporter is in a quite stupid place.

south-west from the castle to be attacked is a wood mine you probably didnt even bother to take. but go nearer to that, and the tunnel goes a bit further, and in the very western border is the portal -- behind a quest guard requiring the hero to have both important artifacts. good luck!

Battle of Hexis

Ugh!  I played through all the five scenarios in GS - to get to the final battle with Hexis... only to find myself completely overwhelmed.

Okay, I'm handling the 80 Goblin Knights, and 30 evil sorceresses etc... but once I reach Hexis... the amounts of creatures he has are staggering and the level 40 AI is making a difficult battle seem impossible.  The only thing I can think to try is waiting and build up a few black and fairy dragons, but they seem like a waste of time and drop in the bucket compared to what I'm up against.  I fail to see how they will resolve the problem.

I have been searching and searching to find some sort of discussion or walkthrough about it, but all I can find are cheat lists, and that's not what I'm looking for.

Has anyone completed this?  Any tips, suggestions etc?

Thanks for any help!
