Quicksand spell is gonna give me an aneurysm!
I absolutely love the quicksand spell, but it frustrates me to no end, because it's nearly impossible to get the exact quicksand coverage you want, and if you leave a hole, what's the point? Sometimes I can't manage to even cast it no matter how slowly or carefully I drag the mouse over only open areas.
Maybe there's something I'm missing here, can anyone suggest help for making this task easier? I've come here after 30 minutes of doing the same battle over and over, being killed because of the unpredictability of this spell every time. If I could just get the quicksand to appear where I want it, such battles would only take a couple minutes!

for example i made 500 troglotytes on baffled and bruised with 2 fairie dragons 20 elves and a level 4 nature magician

It's my all-time favourite spell. I just turned 40+ Champions into inconsequential nothings with a level 17 GM Nature hero, using QS when needed and Summon Waspwort when I could. And they told me I'd be squashed... pah

I have the same problem as the topic-starter. Anyways, I think that quicksand is just too powerful.
When you kill an army which is 100000 times powerful as you with poison and quicksand for example...

Ah ha! finally a reason for H4 crashing every hour or two on some computers! It's to stop strategies which mean you can use poison and quicksand to defeat thousands of enemies.................

you don't drag the mouse, you click every time you want to make a curve. It is like drawing a sequence of lines, the first click start the first line, the second click ends the first line and begins the second one, and so on. Even if you want a straight line you click several times to draw it.

At some point the cursor will revert back to normal. You just need to 'draw enough lines'. (until the bucket is empty  )

I never manage to cast quicksand! it goes not where i wanted it to be so i never cast it

Found it!!
Open spellbook
cast quicksand spell
click only ONCE on spot you want sand to start
then...dont click again,just drag the mouse in direction and in shape you want sand to take..till it stops

Quicksand? Great spell (one of the reasons why I like nature so much), but it works only in 50% of time for me. I think that a good rule to follow is not to hurry when casting it . But still, sometimes it draws the line exactly where I don't need it at all Why haven't those guys from 3DO describe this problem in the manual?
