Couple of Questions
I am not new to Heroes but I've never played it extensively and was wondering if anyone can answer these questions.
I recently did a scenario where I had a hero with 43 Att and 31 Def skills. He attacked a hero with 17 Att and 17 Def skills. I attacked 69 green dragons with 69 black dragons and killed 54 of them! Is this normal? It seems too much as green dragons have 180 hit points or something.
Not only that but the green dragons had a fire shield cast on them and when my dragons attacked them it killed 6 of mine. I thought black dragons were immune to all spells. How did fire shield affect them then?

47-17=30
30*5=150 -> 250% damage
2.5*40-50=100-125 damage/BD
so you destroy with your first strike 69*100/180-69*125/180 green dragons
(approx 35-42)
Are you sure your hero did not have some kind of other bonus? (expert offense, for example)
Fire Shield should have no effect.

I think Fire Shield has effect even on Black Dragons...

Firesheild cannot be cast on a black dragon.. however when placed on another creature it can still effect a black dragon.. same way as a cloned army can attack a black dragon.
I would also suggest that your hero must have had an expert offense skill.. and maybe your opponent no armor.

The effect of the fire sheild is NOT A SPELL! period..
Its an effect..
lets use the example of Prayer..
If I cast Prayer on My ancient behemoth, do you figure the computer takes away the bonus att/defense when I strike the black dragon?
NOPE it doesn't.. the fire Damage from a fire sheild is not a spell.. and therefore can effect a black dragon like it would any other creature.
You might think this a ridiculous example.. but it isn't really.. a spell is a spell.. or an ability that duplicates a spell. such as Unicorns blind.. but not a dendroids binding. There fore spells such as.. bless, prayer, stoneskin, sheild, firesheild, bloodlust, clone, counterstrike, frenzy ect ect.. will have an effect on a black dragon, because the black dragon is not the target of the spell..
Next we will be told Heroes can't use DD, TP, or Visions with Black drags int he army since they are immune and get left behind on the map!

Black Dragons can also have the effect of another troop being cursed.
