They've used the sleeping gas first, that's why there was almost no resistance. But this gas killed 67 people by now, and it seems like some others will die in hospitals.

Well, I'm not sure, that was a sleeping gas. Maybe something like paralysing gas, which has antidote or something, because many of the terrorists died without any wound caused by a gun. And that could explain why many people died in hospital and in that building, without being shooted.

EDIT: Uhhmm.. maybe you're right, othervise those zealots would blown everything apart...

Methinks more people would have been killed if they had used another method. This was the cleanest method

It apears, that the gas have no antidote. And people with poor health can have complications. People are dying in numbers now, and Russian infomation services are not allowed to talk about the victims... How democratic...

I agree about the medicine. But in general - think about it this way - Imagine that humans got wings and were able to fly - but since we don't - we have to walk. But we don't feel that we are missing something - since we never got wings? right?

Well I feel the same way about the medicine - more the modern medicine, and drugs. If we never knew them - then yes - most of us will die - but this on the other side is better for the world at all - We would be know not 5-6 billion but less. Also   only the strongest one will live. It's natural....

A friend of mine told me this (though I don't know if he's right - but he left me thinking) - Medicine can cure today's live diabetes, and other things. As people know if parent or grand-parent got diabetes - then children or grandchildren may have diabetes too (Actually that's probably the case with me). But the thing is - My friend told me - that centuries ago - such people died young - and they've never been able to make children - thus - natural selection it's way... I can't tell how true/wrong was my friend - I don't work in this field, or science - but it left me thinkins... This friend was my father actually - and I trust him a lot.

Even with modern medicine - I still think that there are lots of drugs, stuff without which we can leave better. But as we knew of them - there is no way of anyone stopping producing them - it's the case with the wings of the human.

Right...  tell you what Malkia, when you or somebody you love comes down with a serious illness, why don't you just let them die since we don't want to water down our gene pool with all those degenerates who say, have diabetes.

Malkia, the fact that you encourage natural selection seems unnecessarily cruel to me if you take into consideration that we can invent medicines to cure diseases. As you say yourself, maybe you have diabetes. Does that make you a worthless person who deserves to die and should not be allowed to have children? While at the same time there are medicines available to fight diabetes? Admittedly, overpopulation is a bad thing but saying that natural selection is the solution is just cruel. Instead we should focus on trying to limit the number of births and that's why we should shift attention to better education, more food and more medicines world wide.

And to come back to the original topic...why didn't the Russian government prepare the hospitals better for the huge number of victims? They don't even want to say what gas is used, so if there is an antidote (which is doubtful) is unknown. Also, civilians have to lay on the ground in hospitals! This seems rather careless to me!

I don't want to offend you or something, Wolfman, but this sounds scary. You probably don't mean it that way, but you suggest that terrorism and car accidents are actually a blessing. But imagine that a friend of yours died, how happy would you feel when I would say: 'Well, luckily we have some more space to live now'. A similar way of reasoning is: 'We shouldn't develop any new medicines anymore, because they are only making the viruses stronger'. These pronunciations come awfully close to nazism. Please think about this.

I don't know much about nazism.  It is a scary way of thinking but it is true.

i really wonder why he doent get a qp- for posting such a dump crap....oups i forgot the sucking supermod hexa doesnt judge the content of a post he is just looking for mean words like **** **** **** **** **** **** ****....but is this really as worse as someone who sais - "hey cool the terrorists are fighting against the mass population..." i really wonder what would be if wolfman would say to a mother who just lost his child to terrorists....

shame on ya

I didn't say it was cool, you guys put words in my mouth.  I pointed out the fact that no one wanted to, the world would have many more billion people in it without these things.  People die every day but no one cares unless they die young or in wars, terrorism, disasters.

The Moscow Tragedy...

- More than 100 people killed.

- All of the freed hostages taken to hospital after the Russian authorities used a chemical gas to put the kidnappers to sleep.

- Russian President Vladmir Putin putting out a lame apology at the Kremlin.

- Victims' friends and relatives not allowed to enter the hospital to talk to their loved ones.

- Russian guards using excessive force against the most vulnerable.

Jeez, how low can people go?

Ok, alternative scenario? Storm the building and watch everyone explode. I think this way only 1/5 of the people died of that that would have died.

Freeing hostages is always a gamble, you can never be completely certain of the consequences of any type of attempt. What was clear is the type of gas they SUSPECT the russians used is known in the west (therefore presumably russia as well) to be highly unpredictable and often dangerous when used in certain conditions. They had to do something, it's a shame though that what they did choose to do resulted in so many deaths that more careful planning may have avoided.

Unfortunately from what I have read the terrorists had begun shooting hostages prior to the assualt. Like princes gate in 1980 in England (SAS), mistakes are bound to be made in those situations as plans are rushed to make action prior to more killings. Fortunately in 1980 the situation was on a smaller scale, and the mistakes only lead to SAS and terrorist casualties. In this case it lead to hostage casualties.
