Question re Dogwoggle in Gathering Storm

I completed the Gathering Storm campaigns, and I am currently trying to better my score.  I have a question about Dogwoggle, the barbarian figher.  In the first go around I chose life for his one magic area.  This time around I am debating about Chaos instead.  He faces many chaos towns along the way and has opportunities to get the spells.  Although Life makes him stronger and safer when fighting alone, the heroes come together in the last part of the campaign changing the strategy.  I am not sure life is the best choice because there is also a strong grandmaster life/death hero in the group.  Anyone have advice or an opinion about Dogwoggle?

Nature is the way to go, if you can get it. But advanced is enough, focus on your combat skills!

Well, my Dogwoggle was still called Barbarian at the third map(!). (So far I had not placed to points into ANY of other skills!).

I got 4785 points for the Dogwoggle campaign, not sure if it is good or not (I haven't got a clue on how it is calculated)

Not sure that option has ever been offered.  Is that taught at the life towns?  I can't remember.

Skills

Nevermind it. Just keep choosing combat skills vs, anything. You should improve as much and as fast in combat, as possible. Nothing more needed in this campaign.
Another note - play it at impossible level. The first map is really hard, but you can easily won eat using a simple strategy. I guess it is a bug anyways.

When you don't want to fight a neutral stack

Assume there is a town (path, mine, artifact), and there are some creatures guarding it (ie. placed before it). You can lead them away by putting any army (preferably one which survives until he gets his turn in battle) in sight of the creatures. When the turn ends, they will attack your army. Now, you get your turn, save the game, then reload the game (between combat) and lose the battle. The creatures will stay where they moved to (reason: the save game does not store the point where the creatures came from before the attack).
Note - it's not far from cheating.

Damn, I Wish I Had Known This Earlier

I could have really used this in one of the Bard campaigns.  Oh well.  I got through it anyway, just took a bit longer.  lol

LOL.. How Diabolically clever you are.  I would have never thought of something like that.  Seems like a lot of work though, but I will try it just to see how it works.

My Barbarian only levels up in combat skills.  The life skill was purchased.  After they are all up then I might raise the life skill up to expert if I ever get that high.  He only got to 35 in his part of the game.   So hopefully in end he can raise. I can't remember how much opportunity they have in the end game to level?

Once in April, when I was playing one of the first campaigns (maybe Emilia), I saved the game during a hard battle in a situation described above (end of the day, monsters attack). I've done something terribly wrong so I reloaded. After the reload, I came up with a good idea how to get things work (I found out I should not be fighting this battle at all). So I just lost the battle (knowing that I shall reload).
This is the story of this discovery. Nothing clever, just an accident.

Final Campaign

As I recall there are quite a few places there available for advancement (dragon arenas, trees of knowledge, etc.) as well as libraries, etc.

This gave me the opportunity to get Bohb all the way up on his demonology and finally give me the chance to summon devils.

This led me to discover a rather interesting devlopment.  The geometric growth of ice demons.

Summon devils (Let's say 8).  Now have the devils summon up ice demons.  Ok, so now you have 8 devils and 8 ice demons.  Next turn, summon up 8 more devils, have them summon up ice demons, and what do you know?  All the devils have full mp again, so now you have 16 devils and 24 ice demons.

One more time and you have 24 devils/48 ice demons.  This could get totally out of hand, and before you know it, you have a swarm of ice demons.

Bug, or "unexpected feature"?  :-)

Went back to the old end saved game and experimented with Alita as she was grandmaster nature/death.   Amazing Ice Demons everywhere..   Must be a bug?  I suppose it could be a feature but wow.  Its quite powerful.

I think it's a waste of time and mana to summon devils and make them summon Ice Demons.

About summoning

If you keep summoning creatures of the same type, their mana is set to max after each casting, but their ammo isn't!

Interesting to know.

For the Dogwoggle campaign on champion difficulty I just begin today the first map. It's the last campaign before I play the 6th with Hexis . I just slipt my troops to uncover the fog and take some goods. The skeleton had an elven chain mail (nice for Dogwoggle later I suppose). Near the zombies an arbalet and a sword +12. Could take from ressources and chests 2400 gold so I hired another barbarian but it was not necessary since Dogwoggle went for wood mine then captured a harpy nest owned by red on day 5 . Next day I went for Red's town and I think I was lucky because the 2 red heroes were without troops (some fight I suppose and they came to prevent me from reaching the town). I killed them but lost 4 centaurs from the 6 I had, but with 10 harpies I'm happy . Next some red troops with 1 nomad and the town wwith 2 nomads and Red eliminated on day 6 .

Guess it could have been much more difficult if Red had a caravan .
