Well It Depends If your using sharp shooters with the effect of Gelu from AB then sharp shooters are the best in the game

uhm i think they are a little weak.....
They are maybe strong shooters but weak in attack and REALLY WEAK in defence!

Only after defeat of enchanters, power liches and zealots, can sharpshooters claim themselves "best"
(well, titans will not get involved in this "stupid" shooters game.They look for dragons 
And cyclop is already the champion of the "disabled" division )
Besides, I would like to see efreet sultan vs war unicorn
No special reason, just curious.
Mighty gorgon vs minotaur king will also be cool.

Sharpshooters are best among the archer (people that shoot with some kind of bow)
Obviously they're not going to be better than creatures of a significantly higher level.

about the sharpshooter issue...
... hmm, so about the sharpshooters - of course their a/d statistics are not great, their hp sucks, but this is how it´s supposed to be; they´d be pretty much invincible otherwise and thus ruin the balance - they are what you call *deadly*: with speed of nine they get to shoot early and hell! you always get a clean shot - i say guard them with everything you´ve got - amongst four best shooter units in the whole game for sure

Alright look since alot of people are veiwing and replying to this thread lets count down are top favorite creature battles we would like to see in any Homm3
1. Black Dragon vs Titan ( my all time favorite
2. Centaur vs. Pikeman ( Best of the Level 1 Creatures
3. Azure Dragon vs Arch Angel ( Arch Angel would have like 15 and Azure 5
4. Champion vs Dread Knight
5. Hydra vs Behemoth

Im a Titan Fan Black Dragon thats all I can say. I also think that Centaur would win if they use its speed to its advantage but pikeman are much stronger. Your right to Mighty Gorgons are the 7th level creature slayers lol. What about skeletons though

Hmmmm... Archangels vs. Azurdragons... if you allow the AA to split up in different stacks its pretty obvious who will win.
Champions vs. Dread Knight sounds more interesting, but is it possible to simulate?

Hey Melf,
I just changed my avatar because I wanted something that stood out more... besides, I like it!
Anyway, I had a new thought:
Town Battles
Castle vs. Inferno W: Castle
Dungeon vs. Tower W: Dungeon (if resources were even)
Rampat vs. Necropolis W: Rampart (if Necro didn't have time to 'recruit')
Fortress vs. Stronghold W: Depends on home turf, but I'd say Stronghold
Oh yeah, Titan was weaker than B. Dragon in HOMM2 (Trust me!) and Titan is stronger than B. Dragon in HOMM3. So, going with tradition, B. Dragon will kill Titans in HOMM4!
That is if there will be Titans in HOMM4! There are no upgrades and they already have Giants! See "No Titans?!!" in Alter of Wishes to see for yourselves!!!!

I've tested some battles with same heroes on neutral terain:
Scorpicore vs. Wyvern Monarchs -who strikes first wins
Tunderbirds vs. Minotaur Kings -Minotaurs are much better
