the artifact that gives immunity to hypnotism.  lol.   if hypnotism got beefed up considerably, then the artifact would be nice.  however, hypnotism sucks.   thus the artifact sucks.

the eagle eye artifacts suck too lol.

500 gp / turn is great.  it adds up.    money is good.  it can be used to buy stuff.

angelic alliance is pretty good.  keep in mind you still get to keep the original bonuses on the artifact components.   the kicker is the expert prayer at the start of the round - faster combat speed, increased attack defense and morale translates into ass kicking.   if your opponent doesn't have expert dispel he is in for a world of hurt.   even if he does have expert dispel, he has to waste a turn casting the dispel, which gives you the initiative.   also the other special ability, the mixing of town types isn't SO bad.   because it applies globally to all your heros, not just the one with the alliance.  (correct me if im wrong)

shackles of war is also pretty good.  you just have to be sure to equip and unequip as needed.   when you are hunting down powerful heroes when you are almost guranteed victory, its invaluable since you wipe out their best hero, all his units, plus get all his artifacts.   you just have to be VERY careful when you are relying on a surrender or a retreat to return to town that you do not have it equipped.

But I think is NOT!! I don't care what you mean noobie stuff. but I NEVER use an artifact that makes my hero worse  than generally.

Everytime I get those two artifacts, I just put them in my backpack. Coz I don't want to negate my morale and luck in battle.

You really should listen to guys who have much more experience playing that game than u have. You wonīt find any low level artefact which is as much usefull as the Spirit of Opression.
Why? Let me explain a bit:

Letīs say u have the choice fighting either dendroid soldiers or diamond golems. Your army exists of shooters (lets say archers), pikemen and some griffins. Which would u prefer to fight and why? I can tell you, what most of the (experienced) players would do. They fight the golems...why?....because the golems will never get moral, so u can exactly fortell where they will walk on the battlefield and "arrange" them the way you want. This is much more difficult to do with the dendroids. If 2 stacks get moral, they could probably corner your archers / pikemen, and then the fight will be lost. If u have the Spirit of Opression equipped, these dendroids "turn into golems", coz they will never get moral. So u can win that fight much easier. The "disadvantage" for your troops, never getting a second move in a turn coz of good moral is nothing compared to the advantage of perfect prediction about the movement of the enemy units.
Just make a map in the editor and arrange a battle, where your hero has an ammocart, 20 archers, 30 pikemen and 3 griffins. Now fight against 150 dwarves on grass. One time with SoO equipped, the other time without. Then compare your losses.
Keep us informed about the results

OK! I'm still have to learn more.
I know what do you mean Neutralling morale. Of course it needs true strategy and predictable situation. (without enemy morale bonuses).

But the fact, I always fight with 'Leadershipped' hero and of course Great army. So For ME, It's not quite important.

Just a point on the Hourglass of Evil Hour and Spirit of Oppression, these two are very good for the Necro's...especially in any map where you will face Castle troops...Castle always seems to have moral oh and then luck time and again, but remove their bonuses and its a much easier fight...

God I sound like a n00b, I apologise its 5am...

I allways use these neurtalizing artifacts for the times when I have negative morale or luck that way you dont have to worry about your troops getting skipped for a turn.

These arftifacts have more uses than you'd think at first... lol.

Btw, a lot of people dont seem to like the morale or luck boosters and I don't see why. It can greatly reduce your losses in battle when you have a lucky strike or a morale boost.

The same hint for aswell: Read the description of these artefacts again!
The Spirit of Oppression negates all moral BONUS of the units on the battlefield. Bonus is always something positive. It is a false understanding if u think this artefact neutrals all kind of moral, even the negative one!

Example:
You have 1 Golddragon, 1 Warunicorn, 1 Vamplord, 1 Dreadknight, 1 Archangel and 1 Champion in your army. Your hero is expert leadership and has crest of valor, badge of courage and Spirit ot Oppression equipped. What's his moral value in battle?

Moral penalties:
1. Army of 3 different alignments: --> -1 Moral
2. Undead troops in your army: --> -1 Moral

Moral bonusses:
1. Expert leadership: --> +3 Moral
2. Archangel in army: --> +1 Moral
3. 2 moral artefatcs equipped: --> +2 Moral

So in summary, u have -2 moral penalties, and +6 moral bonusses, which would be +4 moral at the end.
But now u have to consider the influence of the Spirit of Oppression, which negates all moral bonusses on the battlefield. This means, only your penalties stay, the bonusses "disappear".

Conclusion: Your hero will have -2 moral on the battlefield!

I really thought that the spirit of opression said: that it negates all morale modifiers.

I didnt play the game for a while so I could be wrong

I'm not sure that you are correct. The Spirit of Oppression only considers a unit's total morale. If it is positive it is treated as 0 (i.e. neutral); if it is negative it will be left unchanged.
In other words: It just disables the "High morale enables the [creature name] to attack again." event (even for minotaurs).

I made a test with a similar lineup of units as in the quote. Their morale should be -3 (if the bonuses weren't counted). Not a single instance of bad morale for 20 rounds.

But as mentioned, if a unit's total morale is negative the spirit of oppression will not protect it against bad morale.

Talisman of Mana when you don't have a spell book !

and let's not forget the eagle eye skill ... which only archers use ...

Only archers use the eagle eye skill? Do you even know what it does? =P

But I agree that the eagle eye artifacts are the worst.

And as someone said, all artifacs MIGHT be good, for instance, if a seer wants it.
