Poll Question:
favorite Heroes version

What's your favorite Heroes version?  This seems like a obvious question, so tell me if it's already been asked or something.  Just curious.

Right now it's Heroes 4 because I love the order army and the campaigns.

Just wish they'd sorted the damn AI out.........

As for me, I like Heroes IV better than Heroes I - III. I don't know how to explain this... maybe the reason is that in the previous versions there was no strict connection between towns, creatures, spells, skills etc. Now everything is clear, if you understand what I mean. And the graphics are so beautiful... Anyway, I chose H4.

Response to the Poll

For some strange reason, I can't get logged in permanently, so I have to do it this way.  Every time I try to log in, it takes it, but then says "you're not logged in", so...

anyway, right now it's Heroes IV.

Yes, there are bugs in it, but then again Heroes III had it's fair share of bugs when it first came out.  It really wasn't until SOD that the game hit its stride.  At least IMODO.

The graphics are superb, I love the fact that you take your hero with you, and the mobile guards.

Yes, the AI is weak (to put it mildly), but give them time.  I'm sure this will be sorted out.

HOMMII without a doubt. It was my first HOMM game, and nothing will ever equal that. The graphics, the music, the atmosphere, the gameplay, the whole deal.

HOMMIII was a better game technically (except from the music), but for me, something was missing. It wasn't quite as captivating and allencompassing as II had been. Still, the HOMM game I've played the most.

HOMMIV - oh, how high my hopes were for this one, and how brutally they were shattered. Now I can't even force myself to play (I rather do the dishes or laundry instead - seriously)

So now I hope and pray that they will bring the magic back with an outstanding HOMMV

Where's Lord Woock when you need him, anyway?

Vote well

The feeling was best in HOMM2, because that is where I started. However, with all the combat options/hero specialties I played HOMM3 most.

I hope that the next installation manages to distract me from HOMM3. The current version failed to do that

Well I like Hmm 4 better, that hmm3, because of it's graphics (in world map, not in towns or Combat), New musics, The fighting heroes, Magic system, new class system and so on and so on...

I still like hmm3, but It looks little *beep*, when you play them both... But when I'm bored at hmm4, I allways return to hmm3.

For me it is Heroes III - it was brilliant in almost all respects except for town and hero balances (Conflux was way more powerful than Stronghold, and Elementalists were much better than any other hero) The graphics and hero portarits were better than in Heroes 4.

Next comes Heroes IV. This was a pretty good game (especially heroes being involved in the fight themselves) but the confusing map editor, lower quality graphics and the super hard "Fog Of War" pushed it back to 2nd. However, the towns were pretty much balanced.

Third goes to Heroes II. It wasn't as technically sophisticated as 3 or 4 but it was still enjoyable to play (especially Barbarian and Sorceress). But age claimed it.

Last is Heroes I. It is simply too old and primitive.

There.

You must be joking man. Conflux has the weakest creatures. When facing the AB the Pheonix defence is 5 and even if you get 4 per week still is not enough. And all the other creatures are weak( you can't compare a Thunderbird with an Earth Elemental or an Ogre Mage with a Fire Elemental). And their best hero is Monere( +3 attack +3 defence to Magic Elemental), can't compare with Craig Hack. Conflux doesn't stand a chance against Stronghold.
Anyway I think HOMM3 is the best.

H3 is the best.It had a lot of great new stuff that wasnt in H2 and kept those that where good.H4 sadly looks like a degrated version of H3.
Just one more thing-when you mesure it all, Conflux is the strongest town.

I like both HOMM2, 3 and 4. I learned to play the game with HOMM2 and really played it a lot. With every new release some things I liked disappeared but then again they were replaced with other interesting techniques/sound/graphics/...
That's what keeps this game so interesting (to my concern of course). It's that you are able to master every change in the game to your very own benefit and kick the AI or another players butt ;-)
