okies, first of all i would like to set one thing straight. When i agreed with motors it was the idea of his post i agreed with, not that every n00b here is a "friggin n00b"... but to me just the fact that some people thinks thats the way i see things scares me. But then, if thats all you want to see... well whats stopping you?
But to set the record straight: I dont have a problem at all with many of the n00bs here, i just think it takes up space with all these new threads...which is why i have made up solutions for this if people concerned ever botherd to listen (hmmm..is it just me or have i said that before?). And the n00bs here can as DonGio says introduce themselves in a first post they made, like i saw some Archangel dude do here. But as stated before, if you want me to help out with this i would be more than happy too. But then i would like to know that it will be used first and not looked away from with some "his only looking for trouble, lets ignore him" attitude.
Which is as far from the truth which is possible btw, i do want to improve this place... why do you think i keep coming up with ideas to improve it in my eyes if all i wanted was to bash it? doesnt make sense to me, thats for sure. But then as stated above, you only see what you want to see.
And contrary to what PH says i do reply to things being pointed out...yes i do use my "lalala" comment but that is an attempt to spread joy in the beginning of my post. Its not a way to ignore a point someone made...but once again, if you only want to see is me ignoring it with a "lalala" then i will be what you see.
Once again i can assure people that care that it isnt the case as usual.
Now please stop spreading lies about me here, just the fact that you only see what you want me to say here is bad enough. But please dont try and spread those lies to other people here too, that is really disrespectful if you ask me. I also dont like your aggressive sound here PH, please try and have a civilized discussion instead... it would do us both much better

How interesting... my, I'd never think that the sign displayed on the description of this forum saying "Have some ale, tell us your story" meant such a warm welcome by some people.
You know, I'm new. I have no idea you can't say hi here. If you're all so fussed up about it, why didn't you write it someplace in the top or made a Welcome forum for it? I wanted to say hello and meet the people that are here. I wanted to get aquainted if that stands for anything anymore. I wanted to have some fun with fellow players. Then I see this post *points upwards* and it just spoils my mood of trying to be nice.
Wonderful, thinks me. What a comprehensive, warm forum that loves new visitors! My, it's a must book-mark place!
And concerning my avatar... hmm.. I don't even know how to say this. I pick an avatar if I like it. If I find the picture meeting my needs (Resurrectra is an Ancient in Might and Magic 7, counterpart game of Heroes III), then I use it. I'm not planning to take a boring, everyday photo just because some person think that the one I want is too nice. I'm not a newbie to such kind of forums, but I am to this one.. and I heard a lot about this place, many links seen and many followed. I expected more.

Dont sweat it n00b's, I went psychotic because of this treatment along time ago this might not be godly, but to the newbies
Their's not much of a click now as there was back then.
The only one's you have to worry about now is andiangel slayer, and people who think to step on other's is to be tall.
Andi dose have a point, but only from his point of view.
It's hard for a newbie to just start posting like they know everyone, and everyone know's them. That's why a welcoming thread is so tempting for someone new to HC.
A n00b can infact post like they feel welcome *to andi's point of view* but it's rare.. Infact it's unheard of to me unless they are experienced with forum's.
Anyway's, welcome resurecta. This place is prety crazy sometime's, and we can alway's use another poster.

Hello, Resurrectra. And welcome to the Heroes Community. This post is for you, and all others in this thread.
Noobs will be noobs... Always. That's a fact. About half of all noobs who come here make a thread to reveal their presence and it will always be that way. Why, I hear you asking, well here's why I think that is.
A newbie who just discovered this site will be kinda excited by the many people posting here and obviously wants to take part in the activity. He/she immediately recognizes groups of people who are friends, generally post in the same threads and behave in similar ways. He/she will also notice people not getting along so well. At first sight, the newbie will choose some of these posters as his/her favorites and he/she will dislike some others (this can still change later of course). The newbie now wants to join in, wants to talk with the people he/she likes but can't really do that since he/she hasn't introduced him/herself yet. How to do that?
Well, an amount of new members will immediately start posting a strategy or RL thread, often a question too. In this post he/she will declare he/she's new here. A different way of starting is taking one of their favorite posters as example and making a similar thread to theirs. In most of the above cases, the amount of replies is low because nobody knows the new member yet. That's why a lot of newbies make a 'hello' thread when they first arrive here. And that's why I believe new members will always make these threads.
What do I think about all this?
I think new members are allowed to make threads like this. It can be considered spam, but they are new here and not accustomed to the rules yet. Besides, these threads can be removed after two weeks or so, so they're not really a waste of server space.
I think constructive criticism to 'hello' threads is allowed too (as long as the flames don't get personal, offer solutions and criticize the post - not the poster, and are not too harsh). This may sound weird out of the mouth of a moderator, but I believe it may have positive effects for the newbie. Allow me to explain. Criticizing posts automatically draws in members who start posting in the newbie's defense (which is good), discussion starts to heat up but at the same time people have a look at the new member's name and avatar. They will remember the newbie and will be more likely to reply to his/her posts in the future. Plus the newbie gets an idea of what the general points of view are here at the HC and may choose to adjust his/her behaviour accordingly (or not). So if the criticism is not too harsh, it will actually help the newbie to get to know more people quicker.
In short a little conclusion.
New member here? Let your voice be heard, you're as important to us as any veteran member. They were new here too once and without newbies, the HC will die. Get to know some people, settle in and enjoy your stay, feel at home. Don't worry about people criticizing you. Draw conclusions out of what they say, but don't let them scare you away.
Bashing hello thread member? Don't get frustrated over every noob thread, allow them to make this initial 'hello I'm me' post. If you get into it, please remain polite and don't go personal. If the post turns out to become a true spam thread it will be removed in time anyway. The noob will learn out of his/her experience and posting quality will improve.
EDIT: Bashing hello thread basher member? Good! Stand up for the newbie, defend him/her but don't go personal on the members bashing the thread topic if that's all they do. As long as their criticism stays not personal, there is no need to start attacking them personally. You can object about the criticism, start a discussion about it, but don't start fighting. If you do that, you're just as fed up with their posts as they are with the original thread topic and you're actually not doing the new member a favor.

Nice to have you in the community, Resurrectra! I would probably still be considered new here myself . I have posted my comments to a few threads but I am mostly an observer.If you are looking for information on Heroes, this place can be very helpful. There are some very indepth intelligent discussions here sometimes and some that are strictly for fun and entertainment. As far as threads go that I don't like I just don't read them. Call me weird, but I actually enjoy reading the newbie threads most of the time. I hope you stick around.
