wishes for monsters

I prefer to tell all my wishes for castles and creatures now, before it's too late (if it's not already too late), instead of crying when the news about them come out.
In this thread you can tell:
-All the creatures you would like to see back in the game,
-All the creatures you absolutely don't want to be left out in the game,
-all the creatures you don't want to see in the game,
-some castles you would like, listing or not the creatures you would want to be in,
-the special abilities you would like for a creature,
-the look,
-if you want a creature to be stronger or weaker
...
Me:
I would like to see back (in order):
-goblins or hobgoblins, maybe both,
-dendroids,
-wyverns,
-giants,
-boars (rided or no by orcs)
-dreadknights,
-liches,
-wraiths,
-rocks,

creatures I absolutely don't want to be left out:
Hmmm, I won't say all because it's alot, and it's for the most creatures taht can't, I think be left out.
The main are the creatures like elves, dwarves, trolls, ogres, halflings, sprites, orcs...
Some others, that I'm less sure they will be kept:
-gargoyls, (in death or order please, not in life),
-elementals,
-alot of humans, hmm, probably all,
...
I totally don't care for angels and devils, I also don't really care for cyclops.

Creatures that I don't want to see in the game:
-Waspworts
-venomspawns
-dragon golem (or maybe in another way),
and, I hesitate for troglodythes, I don't really like them.

For the special abilities, I don't like this of the minotaur, and I would like the life draining to be less powerfull. I spoke about some others in my last thread, but it's not really important.

For the look: I would like a come back to the orc of H3, I don't like the orc pig-version.

The creatures I would like to be stronger are:
-the dwarf,
-the orc,
-the wolf,
-the squire,
-why not the minotaur,

For the castles, I would like a come back to the whole undead necropolis, and a stronghold looking like this of H2 or H3.
I don't like much the asylum of H4, a big shufle of creatures that shouldn't go together.
Hmm, I've told my main wishes. I might be back for more.

Back in the game, I want to see:

- The boars from H2
- The manticore from H3
- The archer centaur from H2, no more stupid spears!
- Rocs from H2 and 3
- Redesign the Griffin to be more like in H2 or 3!

I don't want to see:

- Stupid pointless creatures that don't belong in a mythlogical game like Heroes. Leprechaun, Waspwort, Mantis..
- Venom Spawn
- Sea Monsters

I want the nature, death and might castles to stay for sure. The rest can change.

The look:

- 3D style is ok, but they should be more like in H2.
- As I said before, griffin look is horrible.
- Unicorns look like ****
- damn it, they all look like ****!

Paladin to be back.

Stronghold of H4 is ruined. No more greenskin there. So I want it to go back to the H2/3 way. Take out the Harpyes and the Nomads.

The Asylum should be reworked also. Bring back the Centaurs. Add Liontaur or bring back the Manticore. Put the Efreeti in demonic town. Put the Nightmare in Death town.

I want:

Return of the magnificent royal griffins! (not necessarily an upgrade, just the looks)

Bye bye leprechauns. In battle, it is a bit too much to see small green men with hats and fancy clothes. (I was trying to exclude from suspect list the gremlins from HOMM3 with this definition of leprechauns but failed... HOMM3 wasn't perfect either)

Make one eastern-looking and one western-looking dragon (like in HOMM3, the Dungeon had the western look and Rampart the eastern).

Don't make me choose between a minotaur and a superior creature I want minotaurs in my warlock/dungeon/assylum army. Make them look good.

The greenskins in stronghold should be making a return. They are the joy and fun of the castle, I find them more "barbaric" than giant birds and harpies.

Bring back the (power)liches. One of my favorite shooters. I really support new ideas, but venom spawn instead of lich, what were they thinking

Overall, make more effort with graphics. Make those consistent (same style for the whole game).

Leprechaun does belong to a mythology. It comes from Irland, or Britany. That he has a toof unny look is another thing. Personnaly, I've always liked small creatures, so I won't be angry if the leprechaun is always here.

why you want to get rid of leprechauns? Their fortune ability can be very potent if used correctly. it reduces damage on the monster by a pretty good amount.
ex:
10 white tigers vs 4 waspworts.
normally the waspworts would woop up on the tigers, but with fortune the tigers can kill them.
Summary:
Fortune decreases amount of damage taken by creature because of maximum luck, and therefore leprechauns should NOT be deleted.

It is not the usefulness of the leprechauns, it's their industrial-age hats and clothes that are the problem. The game lacks integrity. Just as dragon golems could have been presented as crystal dragons (HOMM3), the leprechaun can be fine with some medieval clothes on.

No, seriously? I really believed the fortune was just a spell to make monsters happy sothat they can smile?
It's not the usefulness of a monster that determine if you want to keep it or no. Every monsters can be usefull, (sometimes it's not the case, but how can you know until the game come?), it's his look, his origin...
If you just juge by usefulness, then you can make a supersonic jet, that flies, shoots, ignores lines of sight, and then everybody will want to keep it.

Some creatures I wish to have back in H5:

- Lich (the only undead shooter - necropolis should go back to the undead only format)
- Wyvern
- Dendroid
- Boar
- Crystal Dragon
- Black Knight
- Gnoll
- Lizardman
- Gorgons (I miss these!)
- the demon gargoyles from H1/H2 (I don't really like the animated versions much)
- Pegasus

Creatures that need a makeover in appearance:

- Nagas (butt ugly bald woman! I hope they re-add the long hair that was on the h3 one)
- Elves (they should look like the H3 sharpshooters)
- Griffins (put back the yippy ears and make them stand on two legs!)
- Phoenix (no more burning chicken!)
- Fairy Dragons (they should be a different colour and have butterfly wings like in H3)
- Mermaids (green hair is no excuse!!! Mermaids should have very long, smooth, flowing blond hair)

New Creatures I wish for in H5:

- Grim Reaper
- Lion
- Giant Serpent
- Will 'o' Wisp

But then what fun it will be? It won't become a fantasy game then - it will be a pretty boring history game! The reason for mythological creatures in the game is to make it a fantasy game. HOMM is and will always be based on fantasy, not on history.

No Myhtologic creatures => No fantasy game.

I want to get away from real life consideraions and real life things when playing. I don't want to be reminded of these things by having real and realistic creatures.

The more mythological creatures the better, I say.

I'm not completely against the disappearance of the humans that are out of the haven, but in this case, replace them by other elves dwarves, halflings, orcs... I like mythological creatures but I wouldn't like to have a game full of demons and lizards.
And if all humans were kept, I would be quite satisfied.
What I want is not a game full of humans, nor a totally realistic game, but just a game with nice creatures instead of ugly ones (I know it's quite obscur but you understand...), turned the most medieval as possible, and with no technology.

I would like the ominiscent Azure Dragon back...but maybe change the appearance, like making it a Azure Wyrm.  Lightning strike, magic resistance, and has a growth of 1 per 3 weeks and cost 15 gems.  Those in neutral army can be fun...

Other than that, i don't like too many dragons...they end up all the same.  So, a omniscent dragon (azure), an standard fighting dragon (black), a bone dragon, a magic dragon (faerie) is enough.  Robo dragon serve as the same purpose as bone dragon (mindless), so it can be left out.

Then, that mantis is fun...a bug can slice a behemoth.  Hope that stays.

Units to be stronger:

minotaur...they should be strong.  Like in war3, they are the strongest land units.

Dwarf's slayer only add 50%...to small to make any difference cuz of their weak nature.  Should be 100% bonus.

Angels should really be stronger...it doesn't make sense that monks and crusader have advantage over death, while the angels, which should be the higher of that don't.

Also the nagas.  They are now useless.  And fix their face too...they look like baked potatoes.

I would very much like some creatures from Robert Jordans Wheel of Time books, or maybe an add-on for HOMM3. But that's probably to much to ask.. It would be so great to see HOMM Aes Sedais of the Green Ajah kick some Trollock or Myrdraal ass... This would also enable me to finally finish the WoT scenario 'The Dragon Reborn' that I've been working on for a few years on the superb HOMM3 editor.

Anyway, in a game like Heroes, it has to be fantasy creatures, not real ones. If you want to play realistic turnbased strategy, go play some Civ3..

I can't quite remember what forum this was, so I'll just add a wish for HOMM5: Make the editor more like the one on HOMM3, with 'balloon help', easy quest progarmming, and better 'properties' set up!!

(I would just like to add a little about how sucky my Wot scenario are. Here I go: I had to use Demons for Trollocs, Pit Fiends for Myrdraal, Zealots for female Aes Sedai/channelers, Arch Mages for male, Dendroid soilders for Ogier, AND it wasn't enough player colors to add the Seanchan, which added a relatively large hole in my plot.)

Removing myself from the, to outsiders, boring-nerd-corner of my mind, I return to the world of the living, and with it, back to HOMM4, my daytime activity #1 (my nighttime #2; reading WoT is my favourite there) I would just like to add a little compliment to the NWC team.
The 'hero in battle' consept ruled, the harder lines between the allignments also, and some more I can't remember just now (very bad memory today, it's been 6 months since the last time I had a proper vacation..).

In the end I would like to repeat my wish for a Wheel of Time add-on for HOMM3!!
