The undead transformer is a useless structure IF you have only one city, none of your heroes have charm/diplomacy and if there isn't any non-death dwellings nearby.
But for it to be useless, all of these criterias must be fulfilled.
One thing thats Really been bugging me, is that on some saves I'm playing right now, the Undead transformer transforms 4th lev creatures into ghosts!!!

MAN i have to agree with all of those who say undead trnasformer is a good thing. Picture youself as a lvl 40 necromancer with GM in all Death magics (and necromancy) and also GM in Diplomacy. That means if you find some stupid magi , leprechauns and other crappy lvl 1 and 2s you can send them to you death town to become skeletons . You can then leave them in the garrison for defense!
Also if you got a death army and some how manage to charm 50 angels (somehow) , thay would be some serious kikass unit IF it didnt bring down morale of every other unit.
So u just convert it into vampires , the suck blood , kill lotsa thinigies and 50 vamps ressurect each other all the time(Special ability) . So as you can see UNDEAD TRANSFORMER ROCKS!!!

The more vampires you have when you play death, the more difficult becomes to kill them. So you must find as much sources of new vampires as you can - Necromancy, Buildings, and even transforming 4th level creatures into vampires in the Undead Transformer.

A Necro army is based on having a large number of skellies.
Especially in Heroes3 where most of the other creatures were weak.
The undead transformer is a great tool for producing more skellies out of dumb leprechauns and sprites....
BTW, charm is a very good skill for Necromancers...

I like the undead transformer
I hate Imps, i hate them alot. So when i was playing death in H4, i would use my undead transformer to get rid of them, into skeletons. this was useful, especially early, because u get lots of skellies, and since u get a fair amount of imps, it works out. Plus there is the thing that you have a spare spot in ur army, so u can use another creature from somewhere else for more variety. I like to then add another 4th level creature later on, and with two heros, its all good.
But other then that, i hardly ever use it. Later in the game, when u summon creatures like sprites and such, u shouldn't need to transform them, because u shouldn't need the 1 or 2 skeletons they would give you.
