I'm not saying it was absolutely neccessery, but i didn't lose a single unit that fight! and casted berserk at least about 10 times, meaning they would have got my troops.

berserk is the best spell as long as you start with it or get it in your mage guild, but what if you cant get it anywhere on the map and you are completely dependent on it? what then?

Berserk is a good spell, but rampart is right. You can't count on berserk everytime you play. There is a good chance you can get it but you need to have another plan just in case. Plus how do you expect to win a campaign/scenario on one spell? There is an artifact (pendant of dispassion) that makes it useless.

heey, did anyone mention it was crucial for the game?!

I remember fighting about 6000. There was at least 5000, i guess i was wasting my time? Still was a fun battle though.

They were about 5000...but you have to fight them twice!!
First time to get access to the light blue tent, second time on the island nearly at the end of the scenario to get access to the teleporter which sends you on the island with the fairies...

I don't know what map u have played, but on Astrogonia u can't play and win without berseck or cheats. I played "a legion )" of maps, but none licke this one.here anything is posible.
try to beat A legion of rust Dargons with 500 vampire lords only with haste, prayer, and other spels licke this.
play this map and u will see that berseck is the best magic a hero could learn.

but what happens if there is only one stack of creatures? then how would berserk work then?

If there is none other creature in the range of that unit, it will take defense stand.

oh that's pretty cool, but isn't berserk a 4th lvl spell? Doesn't it use a lot of manna?

How could that be easyer? Those are allready three spells. You don't need to complicate things in that battle, when obviously bersek works better

Berserk is totally useless when fighting Necro undead army because all undeads are immune to this spell, Titans are also immune.
Although a very good spell against big army's or dendroids(slow and powerfull).
