Yep, HoMM2 is the first HoMM game I played  .
Ok, sorry for calling them fools. But you must admit it, WOG is way better than plain H3.

Ok, lets see...
My vote goes to homm3 coz thats the game which I found most addictive. It has the best storyline. (shame WoG dosen't work on my computer )

Heroes IV.
It is a great game, only they should have payed a bit more attention to specific details. But the ideas involved were really good.

HOMM 2 is the first one I bought and was hooked. I got 3 later and soon after I got Arm's Blade. I don't know what 3.5 (WOG) is I haven't been involved in a HOMM Community before although I've dropped in to check for some installation tips, etc. I just ordered HOMM 4 and I'll be checking it out very soon. I think as far as low-tech (visual) games go, HOMM 2 kills all. I have more fun playing it than 3, I have more fun playing AB than 3, the campaigns are better.
I haven't been able to play any HOMM at all since I upgraded to XP, by the way, has anyone else had this problem? I tried modifying the properties of the HOMM games to run as in Win98 but the games still freeze upon startup. This is why I ordered HOMM 4, even though I didn't really want to get it. I was kinda waiting to see if they make 5, which would obviously give them a chance to work out some of the negative points I've heard so much about in HOMM 4. That's all for now, my temporary vote is for 2.

Heroes 3 FOREVER !
Hey, people whose choice was "hmm2" because it was the first game they played night after night, - hmm3 tooks weeks after weeks and whole other time. Just take a look at multiplayer and balance. Perfect!.

Well, my best friend have it, and I bougth my computer, a spectacular celeron 330 mhz, 32 ram, , and I saturated this pc with demos of the magazine's cds ,(who don't do it that), but my friend lent me you heroes 2 cd, and when I install it, and the sword appear and cross the planet (maybe new world computing logo) I say: oh, maybe this game is good, and well I start the game and I don't understand nothing and I say, what the hell is this game ???? is so boringgggg, I call to my friend and he say, come on is a good game, just play it, and with his instructions I start to play, I select the wizard town, and I play a XL map, my first XL map, and when I go for the Titans(my friend say, if you have titans you can win ) and there is with his long thunder in his hand , and wow this guyy really hard to beat, I play that map for a long time (12 months heroes time, and 2 or 3 week human time) and when I go for the last town in the map, this is defended by 78 titans, 200 archmagies, 300 rocs, 400 golems, and 1200 halflings( I don't know how many are because I see (horde, throng,swarm,swarm,and legion) they crush me like a bug , but is too late, I falling in love with this game, I love that barbarian opera song, I love that Warlocks opera song, and I put the heroes 2 cd on my diskman and play all the songs, with this beautiful music ( I have all the tracks in Mp3, and I put it, in my winamp and enjoy...
I love that crusaders with his gold armour
I love that funny zombies with flys around his head
I love that that funny vampires like dracula
I hate that unbeatible black dragons because I play with knight town, and my last level creature(crusaders) have 60 HP (I don't really sure about) and the black dragons of the same level has 300 HP, and the population is 4 crusader for week, and 3 black dragons for week, What the hell can I do to beat this dragons ???

I can say the same about Heroes 3. When I played in beginning it was very hard to beat anyone, because I didn't know nothing about this game. I expecially remembered maps "Titans' winter" and "All For One" - do you remember them? And I had harder battles like: my 47 Titans, 120 Nagas and other units against 130 Black Dragons, 300 Manticores, and others was thousands. It was very fun, and when my skill grew I beated "Titans' winter" in 80 days. That's why Heroes 3 is more sports then others. You said about great advantage of Black Dragons in Hmm2 - yes its true and others may rest when anybody built them. Can you say that any unit of Heroes3 have no antagonist and counteraction or any town is invincible ? Or maybe collecting witch is so fun because it brings big disbalans in game.
So, I just wanted to say that strategy like Heroes have to be balanced and tremendous fascinating.
Heroes 3 have this kinds.
That's why it is the best.

I say that thing about the black dragons because you need a better strategic with some towns, like barbarian and night town, more strategie with less options... thats make this game very interesting

In my opinion, HOMM 4 + TGS + WOW is the best. I don't have WOG yet, but I soon will. I doubt it will be as good as 4, though.
