Unfinished games ...

I have a question, as I know, a player HAS to continue a match once he started it, except if both players agree to restart !

I think some are taking advantage of clan wars and their deadlines to leave a match hanging if they foresee a bad outcome for it and, personally, i don't think that's fair !
I don't want to sound like a whiner (maybe i do sound like one,  i am well known for that, i even won 2nd prize in the whining contest, I was far from first, Jinxer got that one ), but something needs to be done ...

Can something be done to stop this "forefiting" and "passing" from going on ?

"If a clan fails to finish a clan war, and forefits the clan war, they can lose a land they control (becomes unowned land again).  The clan also loses 10 prestige. (Can go into negative prestige).  All 8 players must participate in a clan war to have a victory/loss.  If a clan member intentionally forefits or avoids playing a designated clan war, it could mean forefit for their whole clan, without forefit penalty to opposing clan.  "

this is from the rules ... and this has applied to some wars, I mean, they should be punished in some way for not completing the clan war ... if the other clan has proof of contacting them.

Oh well, this is enough, i think i made my point, can I have some feedback please ?

Valkyrica, Simply contacting your opponent does not automatically grant you immunity to a forfiet.  There are 2 HUGE Main Reasons for the firfiets going on.

1 - Time Zone Conflicts  -  For me personally I have noticed that every clan war I am matched with someone they are +8 hours ahead of me.  SO the times I can play they are sleeping.  My point is that any given week, for example, I have atleast 30 hours of playing time available to offer to my opponent. And outta that 30 hours, my opponent that is 8+ hours off of my time, can maybe only play 7 hours.   So again my point is this?  Whose fault is it that the game doesnt get finished?  A- You contacted your opponent  B- I showed that I had more than ample time to play. C- Niether of us could agree on time to meet

2 - Data Transfers - This one kinda ties in with #1.  Because of the slow transfers 3do left us with, most games take 10-15 hours to play I would guess.  Some longer... ( Unless you rush with Level 4's like Tc_Fear)  So the deadlines , even though they are 2 full weeks, usually are not long enough. They would be long enough if Both players could play 4 straight days in a row.  But while they try and juggle the time zone difference or work schedules or family life, etc maybe can meet twice a week.  Then if a 5th sitting is required to finish the game up, poof deadline is up and forfiets are given and then that is what brings us to a thread like this.

SO the bottom line in my opinion is this... The clan leaders need to pay alot more attention on matchups and trying to choose clan wars with teams that are closer in Tome zone.  And making deadlines 3 weeks instead of 2.

Ohh and one more important point. I know most people dont do this, however I have seen ALOT that do.  They dont send e-mail to there opponent to schedule clan game, they simply hang out in GS and wait to catch there opponent.  Then after 2 weeks of not seeing there opponent in GS they claim I couldnt get ahold of him I never seen him!!!  That is stupid. Not everyone goes to GS to hang out.  ALot of people only got ot GS when they have a clan game to play only.  So make sure you always send an E-mail soon as you see matchups.

Jinxer, i didn't point any fingers, but stop pulling them towards you ... my point was in general, something must be done, i always mail my schedule to my opponent, so they know where they stand , I would suggest everyone to do the same !

Valkyrica,  I know you werent pointing fingers!  LOL  I was just using myself as an example to make my point more understandable. Its easier sometimes to explain things in first person perspective.  But thanks for worry about my feelings, its nice to know you care =0)

punishment of Romanian Vampires II

They would be punished if their intention was to forefit and make an opponent waste their time; they had serious problems.

It is punishment enough that their clan now remains stagnant, and no one will bother playing their clan.  Once you develop a reputation of forefit, its hard to get a matchup.

ves, what about my first question, if a clan war game has started, and for some reason the "competitor" sees himself in a bad position and drags the game over the deadline, shouldn't he be supposed to continue it anyway ? not for clans but to finish it ...

leadership

thats the role of the clan leader.  I minimize my interference on any clan war.  In the earlier clan wars of earlier seasons I would dictate almost everything.  But now the leaders need to be more responsible.  I will simply update and forefit players when they do not meet their deadlines.  All the latest clan wars have a deadline of 3/10, thats more than enough time for members to play 1 game!

heey..

i want answer too!->

-> quest0n

says in clan rules:
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When a Clan holds several lands adjacent to each other in the same continent or island
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

..so,if a clan has 2 adjacent in main continent and 2 adjacent in an island..it counts as - 4 - adjacent?..so clan gets at lev2?
i guess it must be so,or no clan will ever go beyond lev2
just checking "

no foo

as in if an island has 2 or 3 or 4 lands, it is equivalent to level 1 or 2.   To move to level 3, the only way would be to amass 8 adjacent lands on the main continent.

The point was, nobody could get too powerful early, and the only way will be to swat out your opponents later on.

well there is about 8 lands in small islands
if they do not realate with big island coasts then we may say its 8 lands less in map!noone ll need them especialy in mane battles then all lands ll be taken.my opinion.

Warlords Shields

What's happenning when the shield holder passed the dealine without playing any game ? Cause, honestly ,I'm interested in one but I couldnt take any action, the current holder is keeping it far from our sight .

And one more question, I agree rules are rules, must be respected, but a little observation: the holder has too much power in decide who's gonna play with , just launching a classical excuse :  "I have a game in progress" or to set rules as he wishes, changing from time to time just to make you give up on challanging.
Ves, maybe it is better for us, to exclude any more disputes, you to decide ,at least, the difficulty setting ( to advanced or expert, no matter  , just to know from the start) ?

thank you again for any incoming elucidations.

P.S. I'm reffering to platinium shield, in the first  part of my message, the 2nd is easier to guess ...

Teacher, that is part of being the Shield OWNER...is the right to choose map etc.  Granted it doesnt say that the owner gets to choose all settings etc, BUT he also doesnt have to give just anyone a shot. So bottom line is if you want a shot at holding shield you MUST agree with shield holders settings.  If you refuse to agree then you dont want to play for it bad enough. The holder can just take the next guy in line.

Now I do agree that if the shield holder isnt playing anyone and the deadline passes then he must forfiet it..

I have to admit that is the only reason the Warlord Shields hold any interest for me trying for them...is the ability and right for me to force my opponents to play decent maps.  For example I am in a clan and we have yet another clan war on the map Circle for Life.  That map makes me want to puke! It is one of them sequence speed maps. Do this day 1  do this day 2 do this day 3, how boring reminds me of the memorization that went on in Heroes 3.

My point is no matter how much I despise playing stupid maps, if I want to play in the tourny I must do it.  So if you want warlord shield you must play stuff you dont normally like.

bah - im not a big online player or anything but that is obviously stupid... the shield holder will only play the sucky people who challenge him, and not the good ones.  How dumb.
